Sustainable Forestry for Private Owners
The Concept of Forest Maintenance:
Common Beliefs/TENETS: - All forests are vital CO2 storage organs that are at risk.
- Forests are then both a means to ameliorate some of the pollution problems from our current life style and a risk factor if this life style continues unabated.
- All forests are a thing of beauty.
- All managed forest must be recognized as an important part of the economy and be given protection.
- All managed forests must have a competent management program in place at all times.
Purpose of Forest Maintenance Education by Green Diamond Systems:
To put our beliefs into practical action by forming interest-oriented groups of concerned citizens who will: - Participate as a member or advisor in the overall management team for private and public landowning groups..
- Be pro-active in all communications.
- Be sensitive to the educational and training needs of owners and others
- Share the results of their efforts, economically and informatively, with others on equitable terms.
- Openly endorse and defend progressive policies, methods, and procedures
- Aggressively formulate and disseminate the needed viewpoints of their interest group.
Our Methods include but are not limited to:
- Eventually extending a Limited Liability umbrella of a parent LLC to all related groups
- Systematically integrating the various existing stages of forest maintenance beyond the traditional landowner based activities so that all phases of forest product use are connected with good information and benefit from the enhanced production of the managed land base. This will be done with all the technical skills that can assist such a complicated endeavor.
- Conducting and supporting R&D in sustainable systems
- Selecting the most competent participants, be they individuals or firms, as owners and practitioners
- Promulgating the highest standards of performance consistent with our beliefs
- Creating financing alternatives where possible at all stages of activity
- Concentrating on small local/regional facilities and markets in all activities
Expected Results:
- Better educated "publics,"
- Added value (profit) to all managed forest lands, and
- Increased returns to each activity which contributes value to the production of wood based products
- Enabling competent (or at least not inhibitory) legislative actions/regulations
- Essential research and development directed toward sustainable systems, particularly those using forests and forest products for the improvement of value added return to local communities.
- Better short and long term financing for sustainable activities Higher standards of individual and organizational performance
