To: All Interested in Sustainable Systems

Green Diamond Systems is an entity that promotes local capability to care for, use and regenerate renewable energy and materials where ever forests grow, is planning a series of workshops and brainstorming sessions to explore the linkages between the financial community and the integration of sustainable systems.

The major block to implementation of sustainable alternatives is the relentless competition by those combinations of systems and resources that generate lower cost solutions than the locally sustainable alternative. Unless significant modification of the corporate charter and other facets of corporate influence occur, most of the change in the name of environmental alignment are window dressing.

We believe a new financial instrument, related to the TOTAL productivity of forests, will be needed to significantly change the incentives for holders of retail property to engage in sound forest management.

At the same time we feel that the trend toward consolidation of management under one entity must be resisted to keep the use of the resource as local as possible. We propose to explore through submitted discussions, face to face brainstorming, and subsequent Delphi style analysis the entry points within the financial community for supporting truly sustainable projects.

Once this analysis is complete the results will be posted at our web site and will be used to build examples of such alternatives in appropriate settings. We seek individuals and entities who are interested and able to provide insightful discussions of this problem and / or who would be interested in helping support this project.

We propose to begin by accepting papers with various points of view that we will post on this Green Diamond Systems website.. There are several such items currently available there for review. The decision to post contributed ideas will be based on the extent to which the dialogue is broadened or the analysis is deepened by the paper. Depending on support, brainstorming sessions will be set up to see what kind of new ideas come from this process. The entire minutes of any such sessions will be posted to the web site for review by all. Analysis will be accepted, and actions taken if warranted. We plan to complete the first round of this project within the next three months. If you care to help in any way please reply to: Green Diamond Systems

Sincerely yours,
