Owner of a medical-nursing consulting service for attorneys, insurance companies, and healthcare organizations involved in (1) medical related cases of medical or nursing malpractice; (2) redesign and restructure of quality/utilization/case/risk management programs.

 

1995-2000                    Director of Patient Care - Home Medical of America, Inc., Jacksonville, Florida

 Served as the risk manager and reviewed all incident reports.  Assisted with the development and implementation of the Performance Improvement Plan for the company, nation wide.  Chaired the committee to review/revise all policy/procedures during the merger of four different home health agencies.  Responsible for staff recruitment - retention competency reviews.  Developed and implemented three-disease management programs for patients with Congestive Heart Failure, Asthma, and High Risk Pregnancy.

 

1989-1995                    Director of Quality Management, University Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida

Integrated four key components, (1) quality review, (2) utilization review, (3) clinical & environmental risk review, and (4) medical staff credentialing review and reappointment into one quality management process.  Established a mechanism for communicating outcomes of the review activities of the hospital and medical staff to the governing body. The results of these activities would form the basis for developing patient care policies/procedures, and clinical pathways.  Reviewed/revised and presented to the medical staff executive committee for approval the medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations.  Coordinated key players to review incidents in order to report findings to the Agency for Healthcare Administration (Code 15).   Coordinated the review and revision of hospital policies/procedures.  Coordinated the compliance with state and federal regulations, and the Joint Commission Accreditation process.

 

1989-1990    Director of Renal Dialysis, University Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida

Responsible for clinical and fiscal management of 30+-station hemodialysis unit, a peritoneal dialysis inpatient/outpatient home training program, and an outpatient renal clinic.

 

1987-1989                    Director, Quality/Utilization Management, Tulsa Regional Medical Center

Developed and implemented a hospital-wide quality management plan.  Developed and implemented a unit based medical record department, focusing on discharge planning, and completion and coding of the medical record.
