Dr. Camelia Anne Bishop, a licensed Psychologist, has used her American Eskimo Dogs as 'co-therapists' during 20 years of working with clients. Frosti was spotlighted as an example of the American Eskimo Dog's natural capability as a therapy dog in the "American Eskimo Dog Champions: 1995-2001" book published by Camino E.E. & Book Co./Jan Linzy, 2002.
Dr. Bishop is an Educational Psychologist specializing in the area of behavioral health and behavior analysis. She completed Dr. C. W. Meisterfeld's program of dog psychology. She has recently retired from active practice and now offers her expertise in canine behavioral health.
Dr. Bishop bought her first American Eskimo Dog in 1992 and attended her first dog show in October 1994. At that UKC show, Chrissy (Sterling's dam) placed Best Miniature Female (Judge Jeri Singleton) and Dr. Bishop was 'bitten by the show bug.' Since then, Dr. Bishop and La Estancia have become known for having TOP QUALITY American Eskimo Dogs who WIN CONSISTENTLY in the conformation ring.
La Estancia has recently re-located to La Grange, Texas (about halfway between Austin and Houston on Hwy. 71). The new facility is located on 5 beautiful park-like acres and is still in the construction process.
Dr. Bishop breeds AKC/UKC registered toy, miniature and standard American Eskimo Dogs for EXCELLENT temperament, OUTSTANDING type and AWESOME movement. Parents of puppies are OFA (hips and patellae) , CERF and DNA.
We believe healthy puppies are happy puppies. The health of our puppies and adults is enhanced by feeding bones and raw food (the BARF diet) to all of our dogs, and we use homeopathic, naturopathic, herbal and other alternative health treatments (both preventative and restorative).
