I enjoy live performances best, and my interest is in collecting and circulating high quality recordings of these live performances. This is a hobby and all shows are for trade only, I never sell anything from this list. I believe that these public performances are a part of history, and that this music should be heard by as many people as possible.
I am interested in collecting good-sounding recordings that have high-quality sound and have been nicely mastered to CD, then copied without error. I am not interested in trading for recordings from MP3 or high-gen tapes. I'm so busy right now that I am only trading for things I most want. I'm especially interested in good sounding private recordings that haven't been commercially released as RoIOs.
This is how I trade and I ask you to do the same in return. The point of it is that we both end up happy with the trade. I'm pretty flexible, so let me know if any of this is a problem, or if there are other specifics you need on your end. If you are into details, see my TECH PAGE. Otherwise, I'll figure you don't get hung up on details, and only the following stuff is essential for me:
1. I only want very good-sounding shows. If your list does not have sound quality info, then I expect you will warn me if my picks are not good sounding and error-free shows. I try to rate sound quality and note any known flaws in my listings.
2. Rip and burn error free: rip onto hard-drive as image file, then burn DAO and error-free on durable, quality media: Fuji, Memorex, Sony, TDK, Kodak, T.Yuden, Mitsui, or ask me - No Maxell, Pengo, Un-branded Generics (They must be thicker and have 'writeable' surface). No writing on the discs for me.
3. Burn errors will be replaced. When I am busy it can take me several months to carefully play each of the discs you sent, so I expect you will honor this even if it has been a while, and I will do the same.
4. My discs will probably ship within 2 weeks of confirming the trade, sometimes less. I ship first class (airmail overseas), wrapped and padded but never with jewel cases. Please don't use Media Mail, the packages get crushed to death. It is still almost impossible for me to get to the post office on weekdays (damn postdoc), so I'm mostly mailing on Saturdays.
5. Contacting me? I'm so busy that I'm not able to go through all the tradelists I have been sent. You are more likely to get an answer if you help my tired frontal lobes out by putting a note in about things you have that you think I'd be into (i.e. any private tapes from bands I'm collecting that I don't have?). Please let me know what country you live in, and if you send files they should be .txt or pasted into the body of your email. Put "cdr trade" in the subject line to navigate past my SPAM-filter. Please tell me how you burn and on what equipment (burner, software, disc brand). If you are a new trader, please review the more detailed guidelines on my TECH PAGE - I don't do 2:1's, but will consider trading for other things besides live shows (see techpage, I never sell shows).
6. I like to trade art, but it isn't necessary. I can only provide scans right now. Setlists are much appreciated (mine are online in my list). See my LINKS for online art/info sources. My list of official CDs is also online HERE - I also trade for out of print official releases.
That's about it for the essential stuff. I also have a page of TECH DETAILS that is all the boring details and explanations that you might want to read through, especially if you are very detailed or you wonder what all those abbreviations mean. It explains sound ratings and other details. It would be an especially good idea to check this out if you have a small list or are just starting out. I am more likely to trade with you if your list has some info about source (title of original RoIO) and sound quality - I am certain to want this info on discs I'm interested in to be sure I want them and don't have them already.
Here is my collection of live recordings
In a Hurry? I now have a FAST-LOADING VERSION of the live list: without all the setlists/reviews, for faster reading, or if you are using a slower modem.

News flash from Captain Bringdown: Backup your silver RoIOs onto high-quality CDRs. Many were made cheaply a long time ago. Cracks or porosity allow air to corrode the silver substrate, leading to nasty diginoise and eventual coaster-status (they often start to turn grey or discolour. Also remember that, same as for CD-Rs, the printed non-reading side is most fragile because it is a thinner layer of plastic protecting the substrate.
I heartily recommend the Tape Trader Network, where I am listed as Allan L. (all as a last name). They ask that I put a specific link back to their site. My HTML skills don't include buttons or banners, so click here to be taken back to the TTN homepage: http://www.tapetradernetwork.com/
