My view on the Con-Monality Convention June 18-20, 1999 Novotel Airport Hotel.
DAY ONE
I can say this was my first bigtrip without my parents. At 7:40 the morning of the 18th, I got on my flight to Toronto from my airport in Pennsylvania. The flight was no problem, I even got breakfast! I got into the Pearson Airport about 9:30 that morning. Customs was no problem for me. After circling the baggage claim about twice, trying to figure out where in the world the hotel van was, I called them and the hotel came and got me. I get to the hotel having no idea how to find anybody and getting hungry. After about an hour of sitting in the lobby, I finally hooked up with two fellow con-goers, Stella and Inessa. Cool! At this point, its lunch time and no one else was there yet. Stella and Inessa wanted to see the sights, so Stella decided to rent a car (the airport was 30 min. from downtown Toronto). And we were off. We saw Casa Loma and came back to the hotel just in time to meet everybody.
After that, I believe there were a few panels (and for the life of me I cant remember what they were) and then the ice breaker. Well, none of use was in the mood for chips. It was decided that we wanted to go to the resistance headquarters-Augurs place-St. James Cathedral. Since one of us knew were it was we were off. That was a trip and a half. I cant believe that many people fit into a car (you had to be there)! Well, we got there, took some pictures, and got a couple from a restaurant across the street to take a group picture of all of us.
After that a group of us wanted to party more. We ended up at some club (Pulse if I'm correct) and didnt stay very long. As we were going back to the hotel (at its sometime after 12:00 a.m.) Stella (who was driving) took a wrong turn. As we were going down the "wrong street" we saw some white trucks (white trucks in Toronto using seem to mean some type of filming is going on ). One of us, Cleya I believe, leaned out the car window and as someone walking by what was filming. The man said EFC. So you can imagine how fast everyone got out of the car.*BTW, they were filming at the morgue that night.* So that was neat! We got to meet Robert's stunt double, the stunt cord., the "medical ex.", and two people playing lab assistants. Some of us got a few pictures (never leave your camera in the truck of the car!) Then Carrie ask Anne Marie (assistant. producer or some one) something and... Well, you can read about that in Day Four. Finally we got back to the hotel and I went to bed about 2:00 a.m. that morning.
