Course 121 CHEMISTRY H

Prerequisite:     Algebra 1H

The Chemistry H course is a quantative approach to the study of the basic conecpts of chemistry.  The topics of study include, but are not limited to, the atomic theory of matter, the dynamics of chemical reactions, the mole theory, chemical composition, stoichiometry, and electrochemistry.  Laboratory experiences use both semi-micro and microchemical techniques.  The major thrust of Honors Chemistry is toward critical thinking and conclusions based on student-gathered and/or teacher-presented data.  Provlem solving activities are an integral part os the course.

Grading

Your grade in this course will be derived from the following:

          Tests/projects/quizzes                         75 - 100 points each                           65%
          Labs                                                  50 - 75 points each                             25%
          Homework*                                      5 - 15 points each                               10%

The point ranges for the various assignments are approximate.  An individual assignment may not fall within these specific point ranges.  There is no extra credit.  Missed work will be made up according to school and dirtrict policy.  *Homework will be both spot checked and collected; any assignment not done recives a zero and will not be accepted late.

For additional details, see the student handbook.
