Disabling Universal Plug and Play:

In Windows XP

1. Click Start > Control Panel >Administrative Tools > Services
2. Click Universal Plug and Play Device Host > General > Startup Type
3. Click Disable and Ok

In Windows ME

1. Click Start >Control Panel > Settings >Add/Remove Programs
2. Click Windows Setup > Components Field > Communications
3. Uncheck the box labeled "Universal Plug and Play" and Ok

In Win 98 and Win 98 SE

There is no built-in UPnP except in the case of computers on which the Win XP Internet Connection Sharing client has been installed.
