I try and set a good example for the kids, and keep them on a pretty straight track, regardless of Arlo’s influence!! HA!! Actually, raising the kids has been a wonderful experience. I am really convinced that all the hours we spent in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, all types of sports, swimming lessons, etc, have paid off.
The Old Man’s Cave area is a series of natural gorges formed in the limestone by the rushing waters of the receding glacier 10,000 years ago. On March 30th, we made one of our many trips there, did some hiking, and and had a cookout. CLICK HERE to see the pictorial adventure....

READING!!!! I am a voracious reader!!! Even when we go to the beach, I read at the ocean side...it’s so relaxing!!!

I also love to swim, and have passed that on to both kids who are great swimmers. Arlo was a NON SWIMMER when we first met, but took a class after we got married to learn!!

Along with my Mom, I have been reading the Mitford series of books by Jan Karon.

I walk at the track, sing in the church choir, and play the piano.

TECH CHIC

Also, I am learning to improve my computer skills. Arlo obtained a Windows PC for me to practice on, and for Christmas I got a Kodak digital camera and photo printer!! I recently took pictures of each of my students, printed them out on photo paper, and attached them to autobiographies that they made. AWESOME!!

I play the piano and sing in the church choir, and have encouraged Katie over the years to play the paino also. Nick plays guitar, and Arlo sings (but doesn’t play anything yet) The family voted and decided that if Arlo learns to play an instrument, it has to be the accordian, like Wierd Al Yankovick!!!!!

I have always wanted to teach, ever since I was a little girl. Although I taught full time at Vinton County when we were first married, Arlo got a job in Toledo and we moved. Full time teaching jobs were pretty rare on Toledo at the time (they had just shut down 20 schools!) so I taught Kindergarten in various day care centers while we were there. We spent one year in Lancaster, Ohio, where I subbed, and got pregnant with Katie. After many years of moving around, we settled here in Belpre, and after having Katie, I started subbing in order to get my “face out there”. Eastern Local Schools offered me a full time teaching job 4 years ago, and I have been there ever since! I love working with kids, and really like teaching at Eastern....they have a great staff and a group of very dedicated teachers!!!!
