Siri Macallan steps out of the shadows.
Siri Macallan calls the assembly to order.  After a moment the crowd quiets down.
Siri Macallan says, "Welcome to the Third Degree!  Tonight we're going to
 discuss a topic that I know is near and dear to most of your hearts..."
Siri Macallan says, "What we affectionately call 50th level housing."
Siri Macallan smiles.
Siri Macallan says, "Before I start taking questions, comments,
 vilifications and semi-harrassments..."
Siri Macallan whistles a cheerful tune.
Siri Macallan says, "I want to just go over a couple of points regarding
 player abodes."
Siri Macallan says, "First and foremost, this is not an exact science... nor
 is it "old technology"."
Siri Macallan says, "The GMs don't have a rule book saying what absolutely
 can or can't be built.  We are coming up with guidelines to make it fair
 for everyone -- GM and player alike, but that's about as far as it's gone."
Siri Macallan says, "So, fair warning, the "guidelines" may change during
 the next few months as we settle into this process."
Siri Macallan says, "We'll do our best to work with each individual owner,
 and make their place as close to what they want it to be as possible."
Siri Macallan says, "But there are things we won't be able to give you, no
 matter how much money you throw at us."
Siri Macallan smiles.
Siri Macallan says, "So just please realize that there are some
 restrictions."
Siri Macallan says, "We are trying to codify each type of addition to a shop
 or abode so that everyone pays the aproximate same amount of money for
 "like" items."
Siri Macallan says, "That's the only way we could figure out that it would
 be fair to everyone.  Which is why we keep fiddling with costs and numbers. 
 It's not to be a royal pain... it's so we can ultimately be fair to
 everyone."
Siri Macallan says, "So... with those caveats in mind... let's see what
 questions and comments you all have."
Siri Macallan smiles.
Benton Fraser raises his hand.

Benton Fraser says, "Review of building plans, etc."
Siri Macallan asks, "Not to ben dense, but why would you all feel you had
 the right to decide what other people should or shouldn't have in/on their
 property?"
Siri Macallan smiles.
Benton Fraser says, "Most cities have something like that where the public
 can comment."
Siri Macallan says, "But remember, this isn't a normal city, and the owners
 have to go through an approval process anyway before the structure is even
 built."
Benton Fraser asks, "What do you mean?"
Benton Fraser smiles.
Siri Macallan says, "All building/property plans are reviewed by the GMs --
 usually myself and the GMs who build the said property."
Benton Fraser asks, "So no public review at this time then?"
Siri Macallan says, "Which means we've already figured out what we can or
 can't do, or what will or will not fit into the city."
Benton Fraser says, "Oh, OK."
Benton Fraser says, "Thank you."
Siri Macallan says, "Well, not at this time... unless you can give me an
 overwhelming reason why the public should be part of the process."
Siri Macallan smiles.
Xenia Wilson raises her hand.
Benton Fraser says, "I'll think of one."
Siri Macallan says, "I'm not against it... but I need a really good reason."

 furnishings are a little "boring," or are they too busy for that?"

Siri Macallan says, "The GMs who are building would probably be glad to help
 out a little, if you want.  Just ask them.  If you want them to design the
 entire structure, then an additional fee may be levied, but helping with
 decor is usually something we like to fiddle with."

 it."
