[The Portmanteau Club, Sitting Room]
The scent of gardenias lingers in this room, pushing away the odors of the
 street outside.  A brace of wide, chintz covered couches face each other
 across the narrow bounds of a ring-marked coffee table, and armchairs gather
 around a many-branched reading lamp.  You also see a large blackboard, an
 archway, an ashcan and a swinging door.
Obvious exits: none.

Trevor Rage wanders out of a nearby crowd.
Trevor Rage gasps.  He looks rather startled.
Trevor Rage exclaims, "What a crowd!"
Trevor Rage chuckles.
Trevor Rage calls the assembly to order.  After a moment the crowd quiets down.
Trevor Rage exclaims, "Alright!"
Trevor Rage smiles.
Trevor Rage says, "Now, I'll say a few things before start about recent
 changes and such."
Trevor Rage says, "There's been a lot of moves, there'll be a lot more.."
Trevor Rage says, "And some of them will seem fun and the masses will love
 them."
Trevor Rage says, "Others.. well, they're balance changes."
Trevor Rage grins.
Trevor Rage says, "I'm sure everyone would love to stuff a crossbow with a
 dozen arrows, but one was more realistic."
Trevor Rage smiles.
Trevor Rage says, "The number one issue I have had feedback on is groups in
 hunting."
Trevor Rage says, "Before I get a slew of questions on it, I wanted to
 mention something.."
Trevor Rage says, "I have changed notoriety gains to reflect how hard it is
 to kill the bugger.  This includes groups."
Trevor Rage says, "While I'd love to see mobs hunting for fun, a mob against
 a lone perp or two isn't fun."
Trevor Rage chuckles.
Trevor Rage says, "It's not hard either, and way too easy a way to get that
 notoriety."
Trevor Rage says, "So, I'm trying to balance that issue as best as I can.  So
 there are two possibilities.."
Trevor Rage says, "More perps, so you have more like 5 on 5 or 10 on 10.. or
 I cater to small groups/single hunters."
Trevor Rage says, "Right now, you'll see packets of perps, certainly more
 than one.. but often there is only one.  I can't see it as realistic to give
 a bunch of notoriety to a ten man group who zaps 1 perp with ease."
Trevor Rage grins.
Trevor Rage says, "I have a big announcement AFTER the forum, as well.  I'll
 make you all wait."
Trevor Rage smirks.
Trevor Rage says, "I'll take questions now, so let's start up."

 like when I acquise somebody I don't want someboy coming along and stealing

Trevor Rage says, "Well that falls into two solutions."
Trevor Rage asks, "1. What can we as GM's do to help, without spending all of
 our time policing hunt areas?"
Trevor Rage says, "2. What can you as a player do, to help prevent/deter such
 things."
Travis Millers says, "hmm"
Trevor Rage says, "As staf, there is little we can do without spending all of
 our time doing it.  However.."
Trevor Rage says, "I am willing to add some code to the system so that when
 you kill something, someone else can't search it for a period of time."
Travis Millers says, "ok sounds good"
Trevor Rage says, "As far as others killing your perps, it's a matter of
 courtesy.  You WILL have players who don't care about the other hunters at
 all.  They tend to have way too few friends when they need them, though."
Trevor Rage says, "We're examing ways to make all the different professions
 useful to each other, for example."
Trevor Rage says, "If you're a "perp hog" and kill everything you can,
 including someone else's prey, you're going to find yourself out of favor."
Trevor Rage smiles.
Trevor Rage asks, "That help?"

Joy Nalewi asks, "I do honestly have a question, but can I comment on
 Travis's first?"

Joy Nalewi says, "Okay, to go along with what you were saying..."
Joy Nalewi says, "Almost anyone knows that poaching on the accused perps is
 intolerable"
Joy Nalewi says, "I think a lot of the problems come from not knowing where
 the boundaries here are..."
Trevor Rage nods.
Joy Nalewi says, "I think it would help a lot if we as a populace could
 define some of those"
Joy Nalewi says, "For example, a lot of groups have policies such as the
 killer searches, etc"
Trevor Rage says, "You've all handled these situations before.  It's the same
 situation with just a little bit of a different twist."
Joy Nalewi says, "Maybe after the Forum, we could meet and come up with some
 guidlines..."
Joy Nalewi shrugs.

Joy Nalewi says, "Anyhow, for my question."

Trevor Rage says, "Well, let me mention something there.."

Trevor Rage says, "I spent a lot of time in many Simu products.  All of them,
 matter of fact."

Trevor Rage says, "And I can tell you right now, there are hunting rules of
 etiquette is say, GS3, that have transcended time, and no GM had to make
 'em."
Trevor Rage grins.
Joy Nalewi says, "Maybe I wasn't being clear"

Joy Nalewi says, "By we I wasn't impling the staff... more the hunters"
Trevor Rage says, "We all knew what was right, what was wrong.  You fall on
 the wrong side, you make enemies.  So yes, you're all welcome to make some
 rules for yourselves."
Joy Nalewi says, "I know I was indoctrinated into French by the players rules
 for sure"

 chapter of rules and regs. in their hunting guides."

 we all can live with"

Trevor Rage says, "Because there was a change at all."
Joy Nalewi says, "The other night I was hunting in a group of 4, and got 30
 noto..."
Joy Nalewi says, "By myself, I got 500"
Trevor Rage says, "Before if 60 people logged in and decided to go perp
 hunting, it was fine."
Trevor Rage says, "Well right now you can't get 500 notoriety.  If you did,
 it was a bug, but I'm confident that's not a possibility now."
Trevor Rage grins.
Joy Nalewi grins.
Trevor Rage says, "Let me explain how notoriety currently works.."
Joy Nalewi nods.
Trevor Rage says, "This is for the "open" perps only."
Trevor Rage says, "That is, non accusable."
Joy Nalewi nods.
Trevor Rage says, "You kill a perp, you get a certain amount of notoriety for
 it, based on how hard it was to hit."
Trevor Rage says, "If it was too easy to hit, you get none.  But, I assure
 you I've been more than gracious in that spread."
Trevor Rage smiles.
Joy Nalewi grins at Trevor Rage.
Trevor Rage says, "Notoriety you get is NOT added directly to the number you
 see when you type NOTORIETY."
Trevor Rage says, "It goes in a holding pool, where it is slowly trickled
 into your notoriety you see when you type NOTORIETY."
Joy Nalewi says, "Ahhh..."
Joy Nalewi nods.
Joy Nalewi says, "That makes more sense, then."
Trevor Rage says, "This means you could effectively hunt your hide off, go
 back and rest, chit chat, RP, get healed, whatever, and gain notoriety all
 along."
Trevor Rage says, "The pool does have a limit, so don't think you can save up
 a week of noto."
Trevor Rage chuckles.
Joy Nalewi says, "It also throws off my calculations of how long it takes to
 level..."
Joy Nalewi grins.
Joy Nalewi ducks her head.
Trevor Rage chuckles.
Trevor Rage says, "That's another thing.."
Trevor Rage says, "To be quite blunt, everyone has been leveling -way- to
 easily, with enough hunting."
Trevor Rage says, "Now, it's on pretty balanced system.  If you work on your
 notoriety, you WILL gain.  If you used to gain little, you may gain more
 now.  If you gained a lot, you'll probably see a decrease."
Joy Nalewi winces expressively.
Joy Nalewi nods.
Trevor Rage says, "Several thousand notoriety an hour isn't realistic or
 feasible."
Trevor Rage grins.
Joy Nalewi snaps her fingers.
Joy Nalewi asks, "Can you give a range of what is?"
Trevor Rage says, "Not unless we want the most common level to be in the
 hundreds, and you're all headed that way."
Joy Nalewi says, "I'll sit down and shut up soon, sorry guys..."
Joy Nalewi grins.
Trevor Rage says, "A full 8 hour day of hunting will get you 10K of notoriety
 or so.  That 8 hours includes some breaks here and there."
Trevor Rage grins.
Joy Nalewi blinks.
Joy Nalewi says, "Okay, thanks"

Joy Nalewi says, "Oh, one more thing"

 monotonous..."

Trevor Rage says, "Or if any of you feel it's long and want to mail it, I
 read EVERY mail I get.  Many of the recent changes are related/because of
 mails I've gotten."
Trevor Rage nods to Joy Nalewi.

 perps."

 search your perp for a certain amount of time..."

Trevor Rage says, "That's an idea.  I may take votes on my web page or
 something on it, if it's controversial."
Jon Garfield says, "That's a good idea, or an alternative might be to be able
 to automatically search it as soon as you kill it."
Trevor Rage nods.
Trevor Rage says, "I'll consider both.  Of course, if you search it
 automatically, that leaves you in a good 6 second roundtime waiting to
 actually pick up any items it had, aside from cash."
Trevor Rage grins.
Jon Garfield nods.
Jon Garfield says, "The cash is probably what most are worried about anyway."
Jon Garfield chuckles.

Jon Garfield says, "Another thing..."
Jon Garfield says, "You keep mentioning how "easy" it is to get noto in huge
 groups, but it's not. Since you only get noto if you actually hit, it's
 already harder, because you generally get one hit rather than all of them,
 usually upwards of 5 hits. It's not like the whole group gets a chunk of
 noto if the leader blows the perp away in one hit. If THAT was the case
 before, I could see your point easier."
Jon Garfield says, "But there were MANY times in a large group that I got 0
 noto because I couldn't get a hit in"
Trevor Rage says, "Right, but the perp itself is easier to kill for the
 group.  So the GROUP gets more noto.  Because face it, a good stun can be
 the death of anyone."
Jon Garfield says, "The group would get the same total noto, just divided
 amongst the members, since it's still on a per-hit basis"
Trevor Rage says, "Right, but that "total noto" figure would go up."
Trevor Rage grins at Jon Garfield.
Jon Garfield says, "The only real difference is you have fewer chances at
 getting hit since there are more targets for the perp"
Jon Garfield chuckles.
Trevor Rage asks, "If 5 people go hunting together, they'll kill many more
 perps than 2 would kill, yes?"
Jon Garfield asks, "How would it go up?"
Jon Garfield says, "There's still the same number of perps overall, for all
 hunters"
Trevor Rage says, "You stop hunting because (a) you're bored, (b) you're dead
 or (c) you're almost dead. It's usually b or c."
Trevor Rage grins.
Trevor Rage says, "And I'm working toward lessening (a) more and more."
Trevor Rage grins.
Jon Garfield says, "The total of the two in one group and 3 in another would
 be the same as the 5 in one big group"
Trevor Rage says, "The perps are based on how many people are in the hunting
 area."
Jon Garfield says, "But that's what I'm saying, they're all still in the
 area, just not in one big group, so there's still the same number of perps"
Jon Garfield chuckles.
Trevor Rage says, "Right, but 2 fighting one perp and 3 fighting a second
 perp isn't as hard on the perp than say, oh, 5 take on the 1 perp in one
 room, and 5 take on the next perp in the next room."
Trevor Rage chuckles.
Trevor Rage says, "And frankly, the reduction for overhunting isn't severe."
Jon Garfield says, "Well that's too bad for the perp, they shouldn't be
 commiting criminal acts in the first place."
Jon Garfield grins.
Trevor Rage says, "It's 10% per hunter over the amount of perps."
Jon Garfield nods.
Trevor Rage says, "So, 5 on 1, that's a 40% penalty.  You still get 60% and
 live a lot longer."
Jon Garfield chuckles.
Jon Garfield says, "Anyway, my main question that I came in here with..."
Trevor Rage nods.
Jon Garfield asks, "Can you tell us what skills are involved in evading the
 sleeper holds, the extra kick after you evade, and in appraising things,
 particularly the defensive abilities of clothes?"
Trevor Rage says, "All of those attacks are based on different skills.  It's
 pretty much common sense.  Sometimes unarmed, maybe evasion, maybe even
 acrobatics, heck maybe sports."
Trevor Rage grins.
Trevor Rage says, "Anything athletic or combatitive is fair game."
Trevor Rage says, "Appraisal is based on all the combat skills, firearms, and
 I threw a bonus in for fashion."
Trevor Rage says, "On armor."
Jon Garfield asks, "So there are various types of sleeper hold, and each is
 thwarted with a different skill?"
Trevor Rage says, "No, it's one skillset, I'm just not going to give out the
 formula"
Trevor Rage chuckles.
Trevor Rage says, "The sleeper is one that uses about 3 or 4 skills to
 calculate."
Jon Garfield says, "Because people like Jimbob and Ferd were always falling
 asleep, and they're way higher in stuff like evasion than I am."
Jon Garfield says, "And I kick them about half the time or more"

Trevor Rage says, "Then evasion isn't too important for it."

Jon Garfield says, "Well, we checked several skills, and they were higher in
 all"

 unarmed skill is a big part."

Trevor Rage says, "Maybe.  It's still in debate as to yes or no, and if so,
 how.  That's not really something we're getting into tonight."

Sean Explorer asks, "ok other thing is, 8 hours and only 10k in noto?"
Trevor Rage nods.
Sean Explorer says, "that'z kinda nutz man"
Trevor Rage says, "Siri decided that figure and I agree with it whole-heartedly."
Sean Explorer says, "nobodies gunna sit there and kill billions of perps and
 only get 10k for all that effort"
Sean Explorer asks, "but how are ya gunna make 50 quick?"
Trevor Rage says, "That lets you make your first several levels in a day, and
 the later levels may take up to a couple weeks.  Which is, I believe, pretty
 on par with many other games."
Sean Explorer exclaims, "weeks!"
Sean Explorer moans and complains bitterly and generally manages to act like
 the world was created specifically to inconvenience him.
Trevor Rage smiles.

Merril Love says, "I agree about the 8 hours being a long time to gain only
 10K noto. Cause usually in a 3 hour perion I can gain 8 or 9K. Most people I
 know don't really play for 8 hours straight"

Trevor Rage says, "Many players do."

Merril Love says, "hmmm..."
Merril Love says, "okay here's a long one."
Merril Love asks, "If two or three people of lower training are hunting in a
 group it Wouldn't necessarily be easier or harder to find perps, cause i
 know when I lead any amount of people I'm lucky to find 3 perps in a 30
 minute period, it just kinda depends who you hunt with. So how is a small
 group suppose to compete with the larger groups with higher training, If
 there are going to mass amounts of perps wiping us lower class groups/people
 away?"
Trevor Rage says, "Simply put, every level should be worked for.  It should
 be something you're proud to achieve, not just a notch in your belt as you
 run through your climb to level 50."
Trevor Rage smiles.
Merril Love says, "hmmm."
Merril Love asks, "okay well what kind of new perps are there going to be?"
Merril Love takes a sip of her glass of white wine.

Trevor Rage says, "There will be perps for every level group."
Merril Love asks, "when will they appear?"
Trevor Rage says, "So, you'll have something ner your skill to hunt."
Trevor Rage says, "As we build areas and perps to put in them."

Merril Love says, "okay.... Well.... I thin kthats about it..."
Merril Love gets a distant look on her face as she ponders.

Trevor Rage says, "Right now my priority project is perp areas."

Amanda Jackson asks, "One is should we expect to see the value of the
 Thug/Stalker/Henchman weapons raise in the future?"
Trevor Rage says, "I'm not sure how they will be affected by combat changes,
 when those come around.  For now they are below standard, but free,
 weapons."
Trevor Rage smiles.
Amanda Jackson nods.
Trevor Rage says, "To be honest, the weapons in the armory are top of the
 line stuff, though many of you think of them as "standard"."
Trevor Rage smiles.
Amanda Jackson asks, "And can we expect to be able to search the OWF perps
 like the Jungle perps and get cash off them too?"
Trevor Rage asks, "You mean the accusable perps?"
Amanda Jackson says, "I mean the perps not stalkers thugs etc."

Trevor Rage says, "We're debating on what to do with the accuse perps.  So I
 don't know at this time."
Trevor Rage smiles.
Amanda Jackson says, "well I think thats all"

 scale, but Downtown and FQ will remain non violent."

 leisurely jungle hunts at times"

 badparts and some good, but i do agree with everyone who has talked about
 the changes being fair but on the poaching side i think we have to deal with
 it in our own groups"

Danny Gallagher says, "i disagree with  PvP everywhere maybe there could be a
 sperate place for it i dont want to be attacked in town"
Trevor Rage says, "If PvP is put in place, it will not be a "free for all"
 PvP system. It would be in designated areas and such."
Danny Gallagher says, "and Trevor has some news ways of "torture" so be

 have the same mix of weapons they do now?"

 their own breed of weapons (hooligans)."
Trevor Rage says, "The master list of "weapons perps get" will be larger when
 I get time to do it."

Ichiko Daiumi says, "Abilities being more or less equal, a perp in the new
 areas could still probably do a single hunter with a pistol or shotgun, with
 one lucky hit"

Ichiko Daiumi says, "That is the advantage to the groups we have now, that
 someone can be treated while fighting. Single hunters would lose that"
Trevor Rage says, "A lot of that is the combat system in general.  I've
 stabilized it quite a bit without major changes, though.  Guns are not
 nearly as imbalancing."
Ichiko Daiumi nods.
Trevor Rage says, "When I test to see how hard something is, for how hard I
 want it to be, I pick a level.  I set myself to an Academian of that level,
 than a Secret Agent of that level, with all the trimmings as they should
 have."
Trevor Rage says, "I base the perps skills on the average and test with
 each."
Trevor Rage says, "And yes, I test with other professions too."

 to use a strong skill, which doesnt give much noto"

 eventuallyh get beat up and if you do manage to win"
Kristen Fagina says, "you still get very minimal noto for a long time which
 you use to be able to get alot more, at least this is true personally and a
 few others ive talked to"

 good, stance down and finish it off, it you want best noto.  Or, you just go
 full force.  If you get little notoriety, you probably need the next step
 up."

 'result' is like 300, and the defender's result is 150, that's a 150
 difference."

Kristen Fagina says, "and also ive seen stalkers reside in jungle , thugs in
 spanish and henchman in french, however, there is alway a strong thug in
 french at the rue de les bains cross street, why is he all by him self"

 like him? barred from spanish maybee?"

 same."

 range."

 stalkers are one general range, all henchman, etc."
