Donnelly Harriman says, "Then we will have closing arguments, and I will give instructions to the jury for their deliberations." Nadli Clu'sa nods. Donnelly Harriman asks, "So, we ended with the Crown calling Mr. Whiterose to the stand yesterday without cross-examination. Ms. Bailey, you have one more witness, I believe?" Portia Bailey stands back up. Portia Bailey says, "Thank you, Your Honor." Portia Bailey bows to Donnelly Harriman. Donnelly Harriman nods to Portia Bailey. Portia Bailey says, "The Crown calls Ananya Karinovna." Ananya Karinovna fidgets. Donnelly Harriman nods to Portia Bailey. Ananya Karinovna stands back up. Donnelly Harriman says, "Ms. Karinovna." Portia Bailey nods to Donnelly Harriman. Ananya Karinovna seems nervous. Portia Bailey asks, "Ms. Karinovna, you are acquainted with the defendant Chandler Ghent?" Ananya Karinovna nods to Portia Bailey. Ananya Karinovna says, "Da." Portia Bailey says, "Can you tell us what you know about the Defendant's expertise with explosives, please." Ananya Karinovna says, "Chandler Ghent is considered to be foremost in the field of demolitions." Portia Bailey asks, "Ms. Karinovna, how do you come to know this about the Defendant?" Ananya Karinovna takes a shaky breath. Portia Bailey says, "Take your time." Portia Bailey nods to Ananya Karinovna. Ananya Karinovna says, "When I was in Moscow, working for the Kremlin, his dossier was passed by my desk on numerous occassions." Ananya Karinovna says, "In reading over it, his expertise was listed in detail." Ananya Karinovna says, "Since that time, I have worked with mutual acquaintences, who also know him as such." Ananya Karinovna glances at Chandler Ghent. Gregory Townsend exclaims, "Objection!" Walt Zanderbilt blinks. Gregory Townsend says, "Hearsay." Donnelly Harriman nods to Gregory Townsend. Donnelly Harriman says, "I agree, Mr. Townsend. Please keep your comments to facts or your own opinions, please." Donnelly Harriman says, "Not those of others." Ananya Karinovna says, "It is my opinion, but it is also common knowledge in the circle we worked for." Ananya Karinovna asks, "Is that more accurate?" Donnelly Harriman nods to Ananya Karinovna. Donnelly Harriman says, "The jury will please disregard the previous comment." Portia Bailey nods to Ananya Karinovna. Nadli Clu'sa nods. Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you, your Honor." Walt Zanderbilt nods. Jewel Michaels nods. Ryan Sloan nods. Arielle Drummond nods. Ananya Karinovna shifts her weight. Portia Bailey asks, "So, Ms. Karinovna, the Intelligence gathering branch of one of the two superpowers in the world had rated the Defendant at the top of demolitions field?" Ananya Karinovna says, "Da." Ananya Karinovna nods to Portia Bailey. Portia Bailey nods. Portia Bailey asks, "And do you know the Defendant personally?" Ananya Karinovna says, "Da." Portia Bailey says, "Please tell us about the Defendant's personality, as you personally know it." Gregory Townsend exclaims, "Objection!" Gregory Townsend asks, "Relevance?" Portia Bailey says, "Goes to establishing motive, your Honor. Motive for the Defendant to commit the crime." Portia squints at Chandler. Gregory Townsend says, "Your Honor, motive is not a necessary element of the crime." Walt Zanderbilt blinks. Portia Bailey says, "Motive means and opportunity are the keystone of conviction, Your Honor." Donnelly Harriman says, "I'll allow it. You may continue as long as we are clear that this is Ms. Karinovna's opinion and not fact." Portia Bailey bows to Donnelly Harriman. Gregory Townsend nods. Portia Bailey says, "Thank you, Your Honor." Walt Zanderbilt nods. Donnelly Harriman glances at the jury. Donnelly Harriman says, "Please keep this in mind while listening." Jewel Michaels nods. Portia Bailey says, "Please tell us your opinion, Ms. Karinovna." Ryan Sloan nods. Ananya Karinovna says, "I consider Chandler Ghent to be very intelligent, and able to take the long view." Ananya Karinovna asks, "He is ... hmm, how do you say?" Ananya Karinovna gets a distant look on her face as she ponders. Ananya Karinovna says, "Deliberate." Ananya Karinovna says, "He views his way as best." Ananya Karinovna says, "And takes steps to ensure that his way is the way which goes forward." Ananya Karinovna says, "From past actions, I believe him to be amoral." Ananya Karinovna says, "That is, without morals." Portia Bailey says, "Please tell us about the Defendant's character, in your opinion." Nadli Clu'sa crosses her legs. Gregory Townsend says, "Objection, your Honor." Gregory Townsend says, "Asked and answered." Portia Bailey says, "Your Honor, I am simply refining the previous broad question." Gregory Townsend says, "Asked and answered, your Honor." Portia Bailey raises an eyebrow in Gregory Townsend's direction. Donnelly Harriman says, "If Ms. Karinovna has more to add to her answer, that's fine, but she has answered a similar question already." Portia Bailey asks, "Do you have more, Ms. Karinovna?" Ananya Karinovna says, "I would add that he is very good at saying what people wish to hear..." Ananya Karinovna says, "Or making them think that what he says is what they wish to hear." Ananya Karinovna asks, "Charismatic, da?" Chandler Ghent smiles slightly. Portia Bailey nods to Ananya Karinovna. Portia Bailey says, "Thank you, Ms. Karinovna. No more questions, Your Honor." Portia Bailey sits down. Donnelly Harriman nods to Portia Bailey. Donnelly Harriman says, "Mr. Townsend or Mr. Chapel, your witness." Gregory Townsend nods to Donnelly Harriman. Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you, your Honor." Gregory Townsend stands back up. Ananya Karinovna scrunches down in her seat a little. Winston Chapel nods to Gregory Townsend. Gregory Townsend asks, "Ms. Karinovna, it sounds as if you worked for Soviet Intelligence. Is that correct?" Ananya Karinovna says, "Da." Gregory Townsend says, "May the record show that the witness answered in the affirmative." Donnelly Harriman nods to Gregory Townsend. Gregory Townsend asks, "Are you an explosives expert?" Ananya Karinovna says, "It is of public record." Ananya Karinovna says, "Nyet, I am not." Gregory Townsend asks, "Would you say you have more or less knowledge of explosives and demolitions use than the average person?" Ananya Karinovna says, "I do not know what the average person knows about explosives." Gregory Townsend asks, "Do you have knowledge of explosives?" Ananya Karinovna says, "A little." Portia Bailey says, "Objection! Not covered on direct questioning and irrelevant." Gregory Townsend says, "Your Honor, the witness gave testimony based on job information." Gregory Townsend says, "I am trying to assess what type of job that was." Portia Bailey says, "The witness has reported her Intelligence work - not explosives." Gregory Townsend says, "Intelligence is a broad category." Gregory Townsend says, "And the witness included both herself and my client in a 'circle'." Portia Bailey says, "Her Desk Work." Gregory Townsend says, "Clarification of that 'circle' would be helpful." Donnelly Harriman says, "Then you may ask about her "circle" and ask a few questions about the nature of her work. I'll allow it." Gregory Townsend nods to Donnelly Harriman. Nadli Clu'sa takes a deep breath of air. Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you, your Honor." Gregory Townsend asks, "Ms. Karinovna, was explosives knowledge common to members of this circle?" Ananya Karinovna says, "Most of us had at least a rudimentary training. Enough to recognize what is what, if not how to use it." Ananya Karinovna furrows her brow. Gregory Townsend nods. Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you. Based on this rudimentary training, does it take an expert to put some C4 in a vase? Yes or no will be fine." Portia Bailey exclaims, "Objection!" Gregory Townsend glances at Portia Bailey. Portia Bailey says, "Your Honor, the Defense is going back to a line of questioning you previously ruled on." Portia Bailey stands back up. You see Ananya Karinovna. Gregory Townsend says, "Your Honor, I assume Ms. Bailey brought this witness here for a reason." Portia Bailey exclaims, "If they want to call a demolitions expert, let them!" Gregory Townsend says, "Though I honestly am not sure what good she's to do for the prosecution." Ananya Karinovna twists the ring on her finger. Donnelly Harriman says, "Please keep your questioning to questions about her job, not as an expert, Mr. Townsend." Gregory Townsend nods. Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you, your Honor." Gregory Townsend asks, "Did this rudimentary training involve use of explosives or demolitions?" Ananya Karinovna asks, "I can only speak for my own training. Will that suffice?" Gregory Townsend nods to Ananya Karinovna. Gregory Townsend says, "Yes." Ananya Karinovna says, "My training did not include use of explosives or demolitions." Gregory Townsend asks, "So it is fair to say that you only have the word of others, either heard or seen on Communist papers, that Mr. Ghent is an expert in this field?" Ananya Karinovna says, "Nyet, it is not fair." Gregory Townsend raises an eyebrow in Ananya Karinovna's direction. Gregory Townsend asks, "Do you have enough training in this field to ascertain whether or not Mr. Ghent is an expert in it?" Portia Bailey exclaims, "Objection!" Nadli Clu'sa leans forward. Walt Zanderbilt gets a distant look on his face as he ponders. Portia Bailey asks, "Asked and answered, Your Honor. Can we move on?" Gregory Townsend frowns. Arielle Drummond furrows her brow. Gregory Townsend says, "Your Honor, I have not asked this question." Portia Bailey says, "Training was already described by the witness." Gregory Townsend says, "I'm not asking about her training, I'm asking her whether she feels she has enough to identify experts." Donnelly Harriman nods to Gregory Townsend. Donnelly Harriman says, "I'll allow it." Portia Bailey nods to Donnelly Harriman. Portia Bailey sits down. Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you, your Honor." Gregory Townsend nods to Ananya Karinovna. Ananya Karinovna asks, "Could you repeat your question, pajalsta?" Nadli Clu'sa glances at Portia Bailey. Nadli Clu'sa glances at Donnelly Harriman. Gregory Townsend says, "Certainly." Gregory Townsend asks, "Do you feel you have enough training in the demolitions field to ascertain whether or not Mr. Ghent is an expert in the demolitions field?" Ananya Karinovna says, "I am not qualified to certify the different levels of compentency in demolitions." Gregory Townsend nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "So you arrived at your impression of Mr. Ghent's expertise in demolitions based on the word, either written or spoken, of others, correct?" Ryan Sloan glances at Ananya Karinovna. Walt Zanderbilt glances at Ananya Karinovna. Ananya Karinovna clears her throat. Ananya Karinovna says, "Da." Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you." Nadli Clu'sa breathes a sigh of relief. Walt Zanderbilt nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "Now, Ms. Karinovna, you described Mr. Ghent as thinking 'his way is best', is that correct?" Ananya Karinovna says, "Da." Gregory Townsend asks, "And in your experience, is it common for people who believe in their own ideas to take steps to ensure the success of their ideas?" Ananya Karinovna says, "It depends on what the ideal is and who the person is." Gregory Townsend asks, "In general, Ms. Karinovna, is that common?" Portia Bailey exclaims, "Objection!" Portia Bailey says, "Calls for speculation on the part of the witness, Your Honor." Donnelly Harriman nods to Portia Bailey. Gregory Townsend says, "The witness just speculated on my client's personality." Gregory Townsend asks, "Am I not allowed to ask her whether that's a common impression to her?" Portia Bailey looks over at Gregory Townsend and shakes her head. Portia Bailey stands back up. Donnelly Harriman says, "Then it needs to be asked in the context of her opinion, Counselor, as the other questions were." Gregory Townsend nods to Donnelly Harriman. Portia Bailey sits down. Gregory Townsend asks, "Ms. Karinovna, do you know more than one charismatic person?" Portia Bailey exclaims, "Objection!" Ananya Karinovna blinks at Gregory Townsend. Portia Bailey says, "Your Honor, not asked on direct. The Defense seems to be fishing here." Gregory Townsend says, "Withdrawn, your Honor. I have no more questions for this witness." Gregory Townsend sits down. Donnelly Harriman nods to Gregory Townsend. Portia Bailey stands back up. Donnelly Harriman says, "Thank you. Ms. Karinovna, you may be seated." Ananya Karinovna looks relieved. Ananya Karinovna stands back up. Ananya Karinovna moves to an empty seat. Portia Bailey says, "At this time, Your Honor, the Crown rests its case." Ananya Karinovna sits down. Donnelly Harriman nods to Portia Bailey. Donnelly Harriman says, "Thank you, Ms. Bailey." Portia Bailey sits down. Arielle Drummond shifts her weight. Donnelly Harriman says, "I did not give my usual speech about appropriate behavior in the courtroom, because generally it has been fine." Donnelly Harriman says, "I just want to caution the observers one more time." Nadli Clu'sa blinks. Sami Market fidgets. Walt Zanderbilt nods. Nadli Clu'sa glances at Sami Market. Julie Green shifts her weight. Donnelly Harriman says, "I know in a high profile case people are likely to take sides. Just understand the possible consequences of being out of order." Donnelly Harriman says, "It is the Defense's turn to present witnesses." Gregory Townsend nods. Gregory Townsend stands back up. Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you, Your Honor. The defense calls Mr. Chandler Ghent to the stand." Gregory Townsend says, "We also request that the defendant be allowed to testify without the handcuffs." Walt Zanderbilt lets a deep breath go out slowly, clearing his mind. Chandler Ghent stands back up. Donnelly Harriman says, "Before Mr. Ghent takes the stand, I would like to make a comment." Portia peers quizzically at Gregory. Chandler Ghent stands quietly with his hands behind his back at the defense table. Gregory Townsend whispers loudly to Portia, "He IS innocent until proven otherwise, Portia." Donnelly Harriman says, "A reminder to all involved that parties involved in this case such as the jurors are sworn to not discuss the trial in any fashion." Jewel Michaels nods. Walt Zanderbilt nods. Arielle Drummond nods. Sami Market nods. Ryan Sloan nods. Kyla RedCloud nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "This includes in and out of the courtroom, and could have the result of being dismissed from the jury." Donnelly Harriman says, "Please be sensitive to the jurors and their oath." Donnelly Harriman says, "And jury, please be reminded to keep all to yourselves. Deliberation will be a time to discuss the evidence you have seen and heard." Donnelly Harriman says, "Thank you." Walt Zanderbilt nods. Nadli Clu'sa nods. Jewel Michaels nods. Arielle Drummond nods. Sami Market nods. Ryan Sloan nods. Kyla RedCloud nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "Mr. Ghent. Please approach to be sworn in." Chandler Ghent nods. Chandler Ghent steps forward and approaches the bench. Donnelly Harriman asks, "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about the matters involved in this trial?" Chandler Ghent says, "I do so swear, your Honor." Donnelly Harriman nods to Chandler Ghent. Donnelly Harriman says, "Thank you. You may be seated." Chandler Ghent sits down. Donnelly Harriman says, "Mr. Townsend and Mr. Chapel, your witness." Gregory Townsend says, "Good evening, Mr. Ghent." Chandler Ghent says, "Good evening, Mr. Townsend." Chandler Ghent smiles. Portia Bailey turns and whispers to Chavez. Gregory Townsend says, "I suppose I shall start by asking if you consider yourself an expert on the subject of explosives." Gregory Townsend smiles at Chandler Ghent. Chandler Ghent smiles. Chandler Ghent says, "Well, I have some knowledge of them. I am not, however, accredited or certified in any fashion in their use." Gregory Townsend chuckles. Gregory Townsend asks, "How many years of experience with explosives do you have?" Chandler Ghent gets a distant look on his face as he ponders. Terrisa Chavez looks like she's considering something but finally shakes her head back to Portia Bailey. Portia Bailey nods to Terrisa Chavez. Chandler Ghent says, "Approximately six to seven years." Portia Bailey turns to look sharply at Ghent. Gregory Townsend nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "Now, Mr. Ghent, where were you at the time of the bombing of Town Hall on September 28th?" Chandler Ghent says, "I was just outside of the room in which the explosion occured, within a gathering of people awaiting the meeting." Gregory Townsend asks, "Was this a large gathering of people?" Chandler Ghent says, "I'd say it was a rather good turnout." Chandler Ghent nods. Chandler Ghent says, "However.." Chandler Ghent says, "Not as much as one would hope for. I did see quite a few interested in the community affair, so to speak." Gregory Townsend asks, "Approximately how long before the meeting did you arrive?" Terrisa Chavez leans forward. Chandler Ghent says, "I don't recall exactly. I would guess somewhere near fifteen to twenty minutes." Gregory Townsend nods. Chandler Ghent says, "Again, a "guesstimate"." Gregory Townsend asks, "And during the wait, how did you fill the time?" Chandler Ghent says, "By talking with other people in the room." Walt Zanderbilt gets a distant look on his face as he ponders. Chandler Ghent says, "And impatiently fiddling with my watch." Chandler Ghent chuckles. Arielle Drummond frowns. Walt Zanderbilt blinks. Gregory Townsend asks, "Were you hurt in the explosion?" Nadli Clu'sa gets a distant look on her face as she ponders. Chandler Ghent says, "Other than the typical ringing in the ears and startle, no, I was not." Portia Bailey shakes her head. Gregory Townsend nods. Portia Bailey sighs. Gregory Townsend asks, "Lucky. Were you wearing anything to protect yourself?" Chandler Ghent says, "No, I was not wearing protective wear." Gregory Townsend asks, "To your knowledge, were any of the other people waiting outside the Governors' room hurt?" Chandler Ghent says, "Yes, there were some injuries and an unfortunate single casualty." Gregory Townsend asks, "These occured in the same area that you were standing?" Chandler Ghent says, "That's correct." Chandler Ghent nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "What did you do after the explosion?" Chandler Ghent asks, "After pinching myself to see if I was still alive?" Chandler Ghent smiles. Gregory Townsend smiles. Gregory Townsend says, "Yes, after that." Chandler Ghent says, "I glanced toward a young woman who had been standing aside me and started to offer help. I realize she was literally shred by the blast and quite dead. I recovered my senses and proceeded into the board meeting room with several of the others nearby." Gregory Townsend asks, "What did you find upon entering the room?" Chandler Ghent says, "A complete disaster scene. Bodies lying among what was left of the furniture and fixtures, and many reasonably hysterical people." Gregory Townsend frowns. Walt Zanderbilt shivers. Gregory Townsend asks, "Do you know if these hysterical people were in the room at the time of explosion?" Nadli Clu'sa shudders. Chandler Ghent says, "Yes, most if not all were." Chandler Ghent nods. Chandler Ghent says, "Er.. pardon." Chandler Ghent asks, "In the board room itself?" Chandler Ghent asks, "Or in the room I had been in at the time of the blast?" Gregory Townsend asks, "Yes, sir, that is what I meant. Do you know if the hysterical people in the board room after the explosion, had been in the board room at the time of the explosion?" Chandler Ghent says, "Ah, only one. Governor Gomez was there, alive but badly hurt and delirious." Chandler Ghent says, "The others had entered the room after the blast." Gregory Townsend asks, "Did you observe how those people entered the board room?" Chandler Ghent nods. Chandler Ghent says, "By way of the doorway, or what remained of it." Gregory Townsend nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "What did you do after entering the board room?" Chandler Ghent says, "I scanned area for survivors, finding only one. Several people were talking to him and lending him assistance. I had believed the authorities would help the injured man, so I looked around the area for anything that may have indicated the nature of the explosion." Gregory Townsend asks, "And did you find anything?" Chandler Ghent says, "No, I didn't. My examination was brief. I did not move anything, as it would disturb the crime scene." Gregory Townsend nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "What did you do after finishing your examination of the room?" Chandler Ghent says, "I was a bit shaken by it. I was accosted by a number of persons who immediately felt I had a part in the act. I assured them I did not.. not wanting to get into an argument at such an unfitting time and place, I excused myself to my office. " Gregory Townsend asks, "How did you travel to your office?" Chandler Ghent says, "By foot." Gregory Townsend says, "Please state the address of your office for the record." Chandler Ghent says, "The office is located at 43B Jacaranda Way." Gregory Townsend asks, "Approximately how long had this office been open?" Gregory Townsend says, "I'm sorry, I'll rephrase." Chandler Ghent nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "Approximately when did you acquire an office at this location?" Chandler Ghent says, "I don't recall specifically. I will wager around one month before the date of the bombing." Nadli Clu'sa takes a deep breath of air. Walt Zanderbilt gets a distant look on his face as he ponders. Gregory Townsend asks, "Was this office kept private?" Chandler Ghent says, "It was not." Gregory Townsend asks, "Was this office open to the public?" Chandler Ghent says, "At all times." Chandler Ghent nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "Even in the middle of the night?" Chandler Ghent says, "Yes, even then." Gregory Townsend asks, "Did you ever lock this office?" Chandler Ghent says, "I have never locked the office, it's open to the public any time of the day or night." Gregory Townsend asks, "Was the office building always occupied by at least one person?" Chandler Ghent says, "Yes, though I cannot vouch that they were awak." Chandler Ghent says, "er, awake." Chandler Ghent winks. Chandler Ghent says, "I hire, I pay, I trust." Chandler Ghent chuckles. Gregory Townsend asks, "Did you perform, or have another perform, security sweeps of the office in the month that is was wide open to the public?" Chandler Ghent says, "No, I did not." Gregory Townsend asks, "It was not common practice to examine all corners your office?" Chandler Ghent says, "No it wasn't. The only security that would be seen as almost necessary would be that of my telephone lines and perhaps computer systems, however, even they did not undergo sweeps or checks." Gregory Townsend asks, "Was this because of the very short duration of time the office had been open?" Terrisa Chavez raises an eyebrow. Chandler Ghent says, "In part it was. The area handles very little sensitive information and contains no property of value save a couple of computers, chairs and so on." Walt Zanderbilt gets a distant look on his face as he ponders. Gregory Townsend asks, "Is it possible that someone could have entered your office without your knowledge while you personally were not in it?" Chandler Ghent says, "Yes, sadly, it is very possible." Walt Zanderbilt leans forward. Gregory Townsend asks, "And is it possible that someone, having snuck in, could have left an object or objects in your office without you becoming aware of it?" Chandler Ghent says, "Yes, it's possible." Gregory Townsend asks, "Mr. Ghent, did you routinely check the contents of your desk?" Chandler Ghent says, "I did not. I didn't even routinely organize it." Chandler Ghent grins. Gregory Townsend asks, "When was the last time you took inventory of your desk contents?" Chandler Ghent says, "I imagine right after it was placed in the room, which would be immediately after I started using the office." Nadli Clu'sa leans forward. Arielle Drummond crosses her legs. Gregory Townsend asks, "Did you ever check the contents of your desk after that point in time?" Chandler Ghent says, "Perhaps once or twice, I'm not sure. Certainly not for security purposes, however." Gregory Townsend asks, "Alright, Mr. Ghent, let us return back to the evening of September 28th. You have just returned to your office after the explosion. Did you lock the door beyond you?" Chandler Ghent says, "I don't believe so." Gregory Townsend asks, "What did you do then?" Chandler Ghent says, "I sat there for a brief moment or two, before a few people came by to talk to me." Gregory Townsend asks, "Did these people just walk right in?" Chandler Ghent nods. Chandler Ghent says, "Yes, they did." Gregory Townsend asks, "At any time that evening, did a police officer come to see you?" Chandler Ghent says, "At one point, D.S. Chavez entered the room, said nothing and left. I took it as a statement best left unsaid but duly noted, on her part." Gregory Townsend asks, "Was Detective Chavez the only police officer to pay you a visit?" Chandler Ghent says, "No, Detective Kirkpatrick came to inquire about my watch, examine it and take it for lab testing. I relinquished it willingly, asking that it be kept in working order if possible." Gregory Townsend asks, "And did Detective Kirkpatrick take your watch?" Chandler Ghent says, "Yes, he did." Gregory Townsend asks, "Was that watch ever returned to you?" Chandler Ghent says, "I received a receipt for return once testing was completed, but no, it has not yet been returned." Walt Zanderbilt gets a distant look on his face as he ponders. Gregory Townsend asks, "Now, Mr. Ghent, I turn my attention to September 30th. Were you again visited by a police officer on this day?" Chandler Ghent says, "Yes, I was visited by D.S. Chavez, who had a bit more to say this time." Terrisa squints. Gregory Townsend asks, "Before we get into that... How well do you know Detective Chavez?" Chandler Ghent says, "I know her only in her role with the CMPD. We have not spoken to any significant point outside of that role." Nadli Clu'sa leans back. Gregory Townsend asks, "Were you surprised to see her?" Chandler Ghent says, "Partially. As there were a number of people who felt the need to blame me for the crime without proof, I thought it likely D.S. Chavez would follow suit as soon as she had a sliver of suspicion to go on." Gregory Townsend asks, "You felt that she would jump to conclusions about you?" Portia Bailey exclaims, "Objection!" Portia Bailey stands back up. Gregory Townsend says, "Withdrawn, your Honor." Portia Bailey sits down. Donnelly Harriman nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "Between the time of the bombing and September 30th, were you at any time visited by police officers other than those times you've mentioned?" Chandler Ghent says, "No, I was not." Gregory Townsend asks, "And during that same period, did you ever hand over anything other than your watch to the police?" Chandler Ghent says, "No, I did not." Gregory Townsend asks, "What was the announced purpose of Detective Chavez's visit to you on September 30th?" Chandler Ghent says, "To search the premises, to possibly follow with my arrest." Gregory Townsend asks, "And were you arrested subsequent to that search?" Chandler Ghent says, "Yes, I was." Chandler Ghent nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "What was your reaction to the results of that police search?" Chandler Ghent says, "I was shocked. Why I don't know.. certainly there was due cause and potential to place items in my office. However, I was nonetheless shocked. Once I set that aside, my mood was passive and I complied with the arrest without struggle." Gregory Townsend asks, "Did you have any knowledge of those items location in your office prior to the police search?" Chandler Ghent says, "None whatsoever." Gregory Townsend nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "Now, Mr. Ghent, we have heard a witness testify about your public statements regarding the local government. Were these statements accurately represented?" Chandler Ghent says, "Not completely." Gregory Townsend asks, "Is there anything you'd like to clarify?" Chandler Ghent nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "What is your opinion of the local government?" Chandler Ghent says, "I feel that they have handled a number of affairs poorly, and that lack of action on some matters has placed undue strain on the people who live here." Gregory Townsend asks, "What course of action do you hope for?" Chandler Ghent says, "I would hope that the government and bodies thereof would be able to handle the affairs of their citizens and administration more delicately, so that the people of this island -- the most vulnerable sect of them, the common resident and tourist, specifically, are not subjected to such high rates of crime and other harmful activities." Gregory Townsend asks, "And who do you think needs to be the one to fix these problems?" Ryan Sloan shifts his position slightly. Chandler Ghent says, "Anyone, and yes, I do say anyone, King Matthew or otherwise.. who has the desire and care to do so." Gregory Townsend asks, "Chandler, did you have any prior knowledge of the Town Hall bombing?" Chandler Ghent says, "None in the least." Gregory Townsend asks, "Did you at any time conspire with Tony Malone to blow up Town Hall?" Chandler Ghent says, "Absolutely not." Gregory Townsend asks, "Did you supply the bomber with the explosive material used in the bombing?" Chandler Ghent says, "I did not." Gregory Townsend asks, "Did you supply Mr. Malone with ANY explosive material?" Chandler Ghent says, "I supplied Mr. Malone with a fancy-looking pin made of nothing but simple metal, a meal and a few glasses of tea. That catalogues everything I've ever given him." Gregory Townsend nods. Gregory Townsend asks, "Did you have any part, no matter how small, in the murder of 5 members of the Board and Governors?" Chandler Ghent says, "Maybe a beer, if anything else." Gregory Townsend coughs. Chandler Ghent chuckles. Gregory Townsend says, "Board of Governors." Walt Zanderbilt leans forward. Chandler Ghent says, "I had no part, even in the smallest degree, in the planning or act of bombing the Board of Governors." Gregory Townsend asks, "Did you have any part, no matter how small, in the murder of the woman standing next to you at the time of the bombing?" Chandler Ghent says, "I did not, and find her death to be completely tragic." Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you, Mr. Ghent. No more questions for this witness." Gregory Townsend sits down. Chandler Ghent nods. Portia Bailey stands back up. Arielle Drummond coughs. Donnelly Harriman nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "Ms. Bailey, I assume you have questions for this witness." Nadli Clu'sa glances at Portia Bailey. Portia Bailey says, "Yes, thank you, Your Honor." Portia Bailey asks, "Mr. Ghent, did you know Maria DiAngelo?" Chandler Ghent says, "Not personally. I met her for the first time the day of the bombing." Portia Bailey asks, "Did you know any of the people standing with you outside those thick wooden doors upstairs?" Chandler Ghent says, "I knew none of them personally." Portia Bailey asks, "So, it was completely by chance that Maria DiAngelo was the human shield between you and that bomb blast?" Walt Zanderbilt blinks. Chandler Ghent says, "She was next to me, not in front of me." Sami Market furrows her brow. Portia Bailey says, "No more questions, Your Honor." Portia Bailey sits down. Walt Zanderbilt blinks. Donnelly Harriman nods to Portia Bailey. Gregory Townsend stands back up. Ryan Sloan glances at Chandler Ghent. Gregory Townsend says, "The defense rests, pending closing statements." Gregory Townsend sits down. Donnelly Harriman nods to Gregory Townsend. Jewel Michaels leans back. Winston Chapel nods. Nadli Clu'sa blinks. Donnelly Harriman says, "A few words." Nadli Clu'sa breathes a sigh of relief. Donnelly Harriman nods. Nadli Clu'sa glances at Donnelly Harriman. Donnelly Harriman says, "Mr. Ghent, you may return to your seat now. Thank you." Chandler Ghent says, "Thank you, your Honor." Chandler Ghent stands back up. Chandler Ghent takes a seat at the defense table. Chandler Ghent sits down. Gregory Townsend speaks quietly to Chandler Ghent. Donnelly Harriman says, "As with opening statements, closing arguments are not a part of the evidence. They are efforts by the lawyers in the case to assist you in understanding the evidence and also in understanding what the issues are for you to decide as created by the evidence." Donnelly Harriman glances over to the jury. Ryan Sloan nods. Walt Zanderbilt nods. Sami Market nods. Jewel Michaels nods. Arielle Drummond nods. Kyla RedCloud nods. Nadli Clu'sa nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "A reminder, during deliberations you must rely upon your own recollections of the testimony heard by you. What the lawyers say in their opening statements, in their closing arguments, in their objections, or in their questions is not evidence. " Donnelly Harriman says, "And with that, we begin." Nadli Clu'sa nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "Ms. Bailey, the Crown's closing arguments." Donnelly Harriman asks, "Forgive me, Mr. Townsend will begin. Or will it be Mr. Chapel?" Gregory Townsend stands back up. Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you, your Honor." Gregory Townsend says, "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you have been charged with the most serious of duties - to decide where truth lies; indeed to assess guilt or innocence in a grave crime. Chandler Ghent has been charged with 6 counts of murder, and it is to this accusation that I wish to speak." Gregory Townsend says, "Detective Chavez acted swiftly in the investigation of the bombing of this building on September 28th. But it was not until the bomber himself came forward that she had any reason to suspect my client of this particular crime. " Gregory Townsend says, "Yes, that's correct - we have all heard who is directly responsible for the deaths of 6 people - Tony Malone. Tony Malone admitted to all of us here that it was he who put the explosive C4 in the vase, and that it was he who triggered the explosion. Oddly, it is NOT Tony Malone who is charged with these deaths. He was in fact given full immunity for his part in these crimes." Gregory Townsend says, "Did Malone act alone? He says not. We have heard of an accomplice, Judd Samuels, who has not been seen nor heard from since the explosion. " Gregory Townsend says, "So we have only, and only Tony Malone's words that turn suspicious eyes to my client, Chandler Ghent. Acting on Malone's vague description of the bomber's plans, Detective Chavez obtained a search warrant for Mr. Ghent's office, conveniently located just next to the police department. Mr. Ghent's new office, open to the public at all times, was where DCI Chavez located all of the physical evidence found outside of the Town Hall grounds, save for the components that Mr. Malone turned in when he confessed." Gregory Townsend says, "The prosecution's theory of events is that Mr. Malone had an accomplice who somehow got the tainted vase into one of the most secure rooms in this city. Detective Chavez testified that a security sweep did not turn up any signs of the explosives, nor did she report that security found anything amiss with the room. The meeting room was kept locked, and the door shut. " Gregory Townsend asks, "Again, Mr. Malone testified that it was Judd who "planted" the bomb in the Board of Governors' room. It seems these two had a fairly easy time committing this crime all on their own. So where does Mr. Ghent come in...?" Gregory Townsend says, "According to Mr. Malone, it was my client who furnished him with the needed supplies to carry out this heinous act. The crucial question is: do we have evidence to support this story? The prosecution seems to think so. Two types of very common wire were found in Mr. Ghent's office. Also found hidden under his desk was a small transistor. Some C4 was located in the locked desk, and of course, those famous pens were found in the office too. " Gregory Townsend says, "Looks like pretty hard evidence on the surface, doesn't it? But there are several problems with this evidence. First, Mr. Ghent's office was open to the public at all times. Detective Chavez did not even have to knock when she came to arrest him." Gregory Townsend asks, "Secondly, the only person who has admitted to having these supplies in his possession is Mr. Malone. And Mr. Malone was able to place a bomb in one of the most secure areas of this country. Could a simple locked desk in an area open at all hours really be a deterrent to a career criminal?" Gregory Townsend says, "Yes, this evidence could be planted. And there is NO evidence to say that it wasn't. Mr. Ghent's fingerprints were not found on ANY of the evidence collected." Gregory Townsend says, "No one has accused Chandler Ghent of participating in the bombing in any role beyond that of a supplier. So it is to this evidence that we must look closely. No fingerprints. No corroborating witnesses to Mr. Malone's story. An easy, public location to hide the planted goods. An eager police department with a well-known dislike for Mr. Ghent. And no money exchange between the two men to even hint at an alliance. " Gregory Townsend says, "Now let us turn our attention to the crime of treason. The magistrate has informed you that Mr. Ghent has been accused of treason BY killing members of the government. You cannot convict on treason unless you're sure, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Mr. Malone is to be believed, that the evidence is untainted despite its shortcomings, and that my client is guilty of this act of murder, despite the true killer's confession. " Gregory Townsend says, "This case was rushed to trial. The CMPD was of course desperate to solve this crime, to find out who did it and why. And when the bomber walked through her door, confessing and pointing his finger at Mr. Ghent, Detective Chavez jumped on this sensational information. " Gregory Townsend says, "Unfortunately, she didn't spend enough time verifying it." Nadli Clu'sa takes a deep breath of air. Gregory Townsend says, "As jurors, you must exercise extreme caution when you go back to that room to begin your deliberations. " Gregory Townsend says, "As Benjamin Franklin said, "That it is better 100 guilty persons should escape than one innocent person should suffer, is a maxim that has been long and generally approved."" Gregory Townsend says, "When we allow innocent men to be abused by justice, we make all of us vulnerable. Take care to avoid witch hunts, lest it be you who suffers as its next victim." Gregory Townsend says, "When you look closely at all the testimony and at all the evidence, I believe you will be able to find the truth. Mr. Ghent was not involved in the bombing of Town Hall. He did not conspire with Tony Malone to kill members of this government. And since free speech is still legal in this country, he is in NO WAY guilty of treason." Gregory Townsend turns first to the magistrate, then to the jury. Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you, your Honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury for your considerable time and attention." Nadli Clu'sa smiles at Sami Market. Gregory Townsend sits down. Winston Chapel nods. Ryan Sloan nods. Nadli Clu'sa nods. Donnelly Harriman nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "Thank you, Mr. Townsend." Terrisa Chavez looks a little green. Walt Zanderbilt nods. Donnelly Harriman asks, "Ms. Bailey, the Crown's closing arguments?" Nadli Clu'sa glances at Terrisa Chavez. Portia Bailey stands back up. Portia Bailey bows to Donnelly Harriman. Portia Bailey recites: "Your Honor, Ladies and Gentleman of the Jury, this is a murder trial. Tonight we are considering Character." Portia Bailey recites: "Character. What we know is right and what we do are sometimes different, aren't they?" Portia Bailey recites: "Think about it. We've all known what was right and been unable to do it, haven't we? Maybe you've found an item on the ground and when no one came by to claim it, you kept it without advertising it on the comm? " Gregory Townsend pats Chandler on the back. Portia Bailey recites: "Some people wouldn't do that, because their sense of character is greater than their need for some trinket or some cash." Chandler Ghent smiles at Gregory Townsend. Portia Bailey recites: "You may only have been a litterbug, but we all have little lapses of character, don't we? We're human and we try to live in a cooperative society, with as much tolerance as we can muster." Chandler Ghent and Gregory Townsend shake hands. Chandler Ghent and Winston Chapel shake hands. Portia Bailey recites: "Let's consider the character of Detective Chavez. She investigated this case and she brought the Police Department evidence to the Prosecutors' office. She diligently followed every lead, she listened and asked questions and she placed in protective custody a man most of us would say has very few morals. " Portia Bailey recites: "I tell you that she is human, that she is like you and me. I will tell you that she is an honest cop. There is no one who knows Terrisa Chavez who would say she is less than a straight arrow." Portia Bailey recites: "She has testified to finding the very specialized ingredients to make a bomb like the one that killed the Board of Governors in the office of the defendant. The bomb that killed 6 people. Working with laboratory experts, she has found that those ingredients are a match with those in the bomb." Portia Bailey recites: "And what of those 6 dead bodies? Who were they? What were their characters?" Portia Bailey recites: "Consider that 5 of those 6 were politicians. Officials elected under democratic rules, by the people of this island." Portia Bailey recites: "I'd say, on the balance, they were human beings, like most of us. We may have disagreed, or even disapproved of their actions and opinions at times, but I know all of us believe that these 5 had a right to keep on breathing." Silvana StoneSkye seems dizzy. Walt Zanderbilt blinks. Portia Bailey recites: "Then there is the 6th victim. A working stiff like most of us. A waitress. Not a glamorous job, is it? Not a job where you find a cure for cancer, or bring enlightenment to your fellow man. Just a job that entails an aching back, sore feet, plenty of sweat and a job that brings you into contact with all kinds of people. " Portia Bailey recites: "The character of Maria DiAngelo may not have been any better than yours or mine, but she was a hard-working woman. Those who I have interviewed have said that she was friendly enough and even cheerful." Portia Bailey recites: "Why is she dead?" Portia Bailey recites: "She's dead because she stood between the defendant and the bomb, Ladies and Gentleman." Portia Bailey recites: "'She was there to serve drinks and clean up afterwards. She was standing in front of that door by chance. " Portia Bailey recites: "Any one of the spectators at the Board of Governors' meeting could have been the human shield that protected Chandler Ghent from his own bomb." Chandler Ghent coughs. Portia Bailey recites: "Sure he was knocked down, sure he was covered with dust and unholy debris from a mass murder. But he wasn't permanently injured, was he?" Portia Bailey recites: "He's not lying in Intensive Care like Roberto Gomez. He's not lying in the basement of the Medical Association like Maria DiAngelo. " Portia Bailey recites: "But he is lying." Portia Bailey recites: "We have the testimony of his accomplice that Chandler Ghent is lying." Portia Bailey recites: "And now we come to the character of Tony Malone." Portia Bailey recites: "A small-time crook. A nickel and dime hustler. A not-so-bright, not-so-lovable guy who hangs around the fringes of crime, maybe bragging about his exploits in a society that admires criminals." Portia Bailey recites: "We'd all like to forget that there are people like Tony Malone on this island. Maybe you've thought to yourself, At least I'll never sink THAT low. And you know, in your heart, that you and he are not the same." Portia Bailey recites: "And when push comes to shove, few of us would even contemplate the actions he has admitted to in Court during this case. Who among us would agree to plant the explosive C4 in the midst of a group of people, just for cash?" Portia Bailey recites: "Ah, but Tony wasn't just in it for the cash. He's told us he was in it because he knew the reputation of Chandler Ghent. He knew Ghent was the big-time. A crook with real power and real money and real plans. " Portia Bailey recites: "And let's not forget Ghent's charisma. Some of us may see his ways and sneer. But to a guy like Tony, a weak-minded, weak-willed wanna be, Ghent was a dream Tony could never achieve." Portia Bailey recites: "And Ghent had a plan. A Big Plan. To overthrow the people that may have looked down on Tony and who lived their lives for something bigger than themselves. Authority in the shape of elected officials, and anyone else who got in the way of Chandler Ghent's bomb." Walt Zanderbilt blinks, looking lost. Portia Bailey recites: "See him sitting there so calmly. So elegantly dressed with his elegant attorneys. Yet he and Tony are cut from the same piece of cloth. Tony and Ghent both want what THEY want, when they want it. They're both more concerned with their own desires than with the world we all live in and the society we share." Portia Bailey recites: "And isn't it ironic that the same character that has brought Chandler Ghent so high in his world, would lead him to disaster here in this trial?" Portia Bailey recites: "Because he failed to reckon with the cowardice of Tony Malone. It takes one kind of coward to sit behind closed doors and build a bomb to destroy innocent lives. " Portia Bailey recites: "That kind of coward can even arrange for someone else to convey the bomb to it's destination. Can even stay far away from the detonator, paying a stooge to push the button. And that kind of coward can cold-bloodedly watch an innocent woman stand between him and the bomb, knowing she will die and he will walk away unscathed. " Portia Bailey recites: "That kind of coward is Chandler Ghent." Portia Bailey recites: "But he forgot that Tony Malone and his associate, Judd, could never be so brave. They would hide in darkened alleys, down sewers, in the gutters of our world, in the gutters of morality, and would not have the guts to walk around calmly after they killed and maimed. " Chandler Ghent glances at Portia Bailey. Portia Bailey recites: "They don't have the stomach that Ghent has for willful destruction." Portia Bailey recites: "They got scared. " Portia Bailey recites: "In the classic underworld pattern, Tony turned stool pigeon. He ratted out his boss, in return for a plea bargain. He snuck through the streets, afraid of the light of day and even more terrified of the shadows where his fellow thugs lurk. " Portia Bailey recites: "He sought out Chavez and whined his way through a recital of blame and shame, and gradually admitted the whole scope of Ghent's deeds. I've heard the tape of that confession, and he's even more repulsive on it than he was here in court." Portia Bailey recites: "We may not want to dwell on how many Tony Malones there are in the world, but we know they exist. And you can bet that he will be back in this court someday. Held accountable for his crimes, he will get the justice he deserves." Portia Bailey recites: "The Crown granted him immunity, as do prosecutors the world over, because we know he would never have the brains or the skill to pull off a horrific murder like this one." Portia Bailey recites: "The simple truth of working for the Crown, and for the people of this island, is that I must sometimes let the little fish go to catch the shark." Portia Bailey shakes her head. Portia Bailey recites: "It wears you down, sometimes, I can admit. We battle against the big and small, but sometimes we have the chance to go after a kingpin." Portia Bailey recites: "Sometimes we can bring to trial more than a hood, sometimes we bring to trial a man who hires hoods to do his dirty work while he picks out a silk tie to wear to the bombing." Portia Bailey recites: "Chandler Ghent is a hood, and a cold-blooded cowardly murderer who hired Tony and Judd to bomb the Board of Governors." Portia Bailey recites: "Ghent had the means, all that physical evidence of the bomb-making apparatus. He had the expertise to make that bomb. He had the money to pay a couple of goons to plant it and detonate it, while he established his alibi by hiding behind a woman who died because she stood between him and that bomb." Portia Bailey recites: "And he had the motive. He dreams of controlling this island. For all we know, his dreams are bigger than the island of Morada, bigger than our part of the world. For all we know, he won't stop till he has stretched his tentacles to every land we hold dear in our hearts. For all we know, he has begun that work already." Portia Bailey recites: "What we DO know, here tonight, is that HIS is the will and the plan behind this tragedy. He is the soulmate of those who would blow an airplane out of the sky, blow up the federal building in the United States, bomb the World Trade Center, blow a hole in a ship at anchor in peacetime, bomb a Marine barracks, blow up Harrods in the heart of London, even bomb embassies in Africa." Portia Bailey recites: "We may not want to admit that there are rats like Tony Malone in our world." Portia Bailey recites: "But with your verdict tonight, you will be announcing that we know there are BAD people in this world like Chandler Ghent." Portia Bailey recites: "And we, the people, will not allow them to destroy our world, our society, our political system and our friends and neighbors." Portia Bailey recites: "Thank you." Portia Bailey sits down. Ryan Sloan adjust his silk tie. Silvana StoneSkye looks as if someone made her watch all of Titanic in 10 minutes. Nadli Clu'sa breathes a sigh of relief. Walt Zanderbilt breathes a sigh of relief. Donnelly Harriman nods to Portia Bailey. Nadli Clu'sa glances at Silvana StoneSkye. Donnelly Harriman says, "Thank you." Donnelly Harriman says, "I will now give instructions to the jury." Nadli Clu'sa glances at Miranda Myles. Donnelly Harriman says, "You have been chosen and sworn as jurors in this case to try the issues of fact presented to you without bias or prejudice as to anyone. You are expected to impartially consider all of the evidence, and reach a just verdict. " Julie Green bites her nails. Donnelly Harriman says, "You must completely disregard anything which you have read, seen or heard outside of this courtroom relating to the issues in this trial. It would be unfair to consider anything not in evidence because the lawyers have no opportunity to challenge or comment about it. " Donnelly Harriman says, "Public opinion must not play any role in your deliberations. In short, you would violate your oaths as jurors if you permitted yourselves to be influenced in any manner by anything said or written by those who do not have any responsibility for a fair trial of these charges." Donnelly Harriman glances at the jury. Walt Zanderbilt nods. Ryan Sloan nods. Ami Stuart nods. Arielle Drummond nods. Rain Beringer nods. Ariana Bowman nods. Kyla RedCloud nods. Nadli Clu'sa nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "Now that you have heard the evidence and the arguments, I will instruct you as to the law governing you in this case. The basic principle of our law is that the defendant, Chandler Ghent, is presumed to be innocent of each and every charge brought against him in this court." Donnelly Harriman says, "So the presumption of innocence means that Chandler Ghent must be given the benefit of any reasonable doubt of his guilt that may remain in the minds of the jurors after they have given careful and impartial consideration to all of the evidence in the case." Nadli Clu'sa nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "A reasonable doubt is a doubt based on reason and common sense, the kind of doubt that would make a reasonable person hesitate to act. A defendant is not to be convicted on mere suspicion or conjecture." Donnelly Harriman says, "A reasonable doubt may arise not only from the evidence produced but also from lack of evidence. A defendant has the right to rely upon failure of the prosecution to establish such proof." Donnelly Harriman says, "To establish guilt on the counts of murder, the Crown must prove three essential elements beyond a reasonable doubt. One, that the defendant without lawful justification killed or aided and abetted the killing of another human being." Donnelly Harriman says, "Two, that the defendant committed or aided and abetted the killing with malice aforethought. "Malice aforethought" means that the defendant must have acted willfully and deliberately, intending to kill another person." Donnelly Harriman says, "Three, that the defendant committed or aided and abetted the killing in a premeditated and deliberate manner. Premeditation requires that the defendant formed a specific intent to kill after planning and deliberation. " Donnelly Harriman says, "To establish guilt on the count of treason, the Crown must prove that the Defendant was guilty of a criminal offense involving the attempt, by overt acts, to overthrow the Crown to which the offender owes allegiance, or to betray the state to a foreign power. For this charge, you must just have a reasonable doubt as to his guilt to find him not guilty, not beyond a reasonable doubt as for the murder charge." Donnelly Harriman says, "You are here to determine whether the Crown has proven the guilt of the defendant Chandler Ghent for the crimes charged. You are not called upon to return a verdict as to any other person." Donnelly Harriman says, "So if the evidence in the case convinces you beyond a reasonable doubt of the guilt of Chandler Ghent, you should so find, even though you may believe that one or more other persons may also be guilty. But if any reasonable doubt remains in your minds after impartial consideration of all evidence, it is your duty to find Chandler Ghent not guilty." Gregory Townsend nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "Your verdict must be the decision of a majority. At least half of you must be in agreement. Until that point, you have not reached a verdict." Donnelly Harriman says, "You must inform me before you return with your verdict, or if you have any difficulties reaching this verdict. If any questions arise during deliberations you must also inform me." Nadli Clu'sa nods. Ryan Sloan nods. Ami Stuart nods. Arielle Drummond nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "Do not communicate with anyone other than your fellow jury members until after the verdict is read. Doing so would violate your oath." Walt Zanderbilt nods. Ryan Sloan nods. Kyla RedCloud nods. Nadli Clu'sa nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "I will escort the jury to the jury deliberation room, and make certain they choose a foreman and are settled." Donnelly Harriman says, "Everyone else is excused until the verdict has been reached." Ariana Bowman nods. Donnelly Harriman stands back up. Ami Stuart stands back up. Rain Beringer stands back up. Walt Zanderbilt nods. Portia Bailey stands back up. Terrisa Chavez stands back up. Chandler Ghent stands back up. Chandler Ghent stretches. Kara McLoud stands back up. Gregory Townsend stands back up. Burton Kirkpatrick stands back up. Kara McLoud winces expressively. Kara McLoud comforts Kyla RedCloud. Burton Kirkpatrick quietly leaves the room. Jewel Michaels stands back up. Terrisa Chavez gets a pair of police handcuffs from inside her leather briefcase. Jewel Michaels asks, "where am I to go?" Terrisa Chavez glances at the cuffs, then over to Ghent. Chandler Ghent says, "I'm ready." Chandler Ghent nods to Terrisa Chavez. Jewel Michaels joins Kyla RedCloud's group. Ariana Bowman stands back up. Sami Market stands back up. Gregory Townsend nods to Chandler Ghent. Nadli Clu'sa stands back up. Donnelly Harriman says, "Please follow me if you are on the jury." Walt Zanderbilt stands back up. Ariana Bowman smiles at Donnelly Harriman. Chandler Ghent says, "Thank you Gregory, Winston." Ami Stuart asks, "do you even the alternates go to?" Chandler Ghent says, "You did a fine job." Chandler Ghent smiles. Terrisa Chavez sets the cuffs around Chandler Ghent's wrists. Julie Green stands back up. Gregory Townsend says, "Thank you, sir. We'll see you shortly." Kara McLoud nods to Donnelly Harriman. Ami peers quizzically at Donnelly. Chandler Ghent nods. Donnelly Harriman says, "Alternates will stay here, please, in case you are needed if something arises." Terrisa Chavez's group went through a double door. Ariana Bowman says, "Well, I don't believe the full jury is here, and since I'm the first alternate I figured I could join up." Silvana StoneSkye nods. Ariana Bowman nods to Donnelly Harriman. Donnelly Harriman says, "As of now, alternates are not required." Sami Market sits down. Donnelly Harriman says, "Let me check my jury list." Nadli Clu'sa glances at Sami Market. Julie Green sits down. Ryan Sloan nods to Donnelly Harriman. Portia Bailey says, "Ariana was going to be an alternate - she's actually the odd member." Silvana StoneSkye sits down. Donnelly Harriman says, "Here, everyone who is a jury member or alternate please follow me" Donnelly Harriman says, "We'll discuss this in the deliberation room." Silvana StoneSkye stands back up. Ryan Sloan stands back up. Nadli Clu'sa smiles at Donnelly Harriman. Sami Market stands back up. Julie Green stands back up. Donnelly Harriman's group went through a double door. Gregory Townsend says, "Winston, I'm going to get us some coffee. Page me if something comes up." Winston Chapel nods. Winston Chapel smiles at Gregory Townsend. Gregory Townsend just went through a double door. Portia Bailey sits down. Winston Chapel says, "Thankfully, there is no death penalty here on Morada." Michael McHugh says, "Thanks for reminding me, Mr. Chapel." Portia peers quizzically at Silvana. Silvana StoneSkye says, "Your closing statement, you spoke rather quickly." Portia Bailey sighs. Portia Bailey says, "I was very nervous, actually." Portia Bailey smiles at Silvana StoneSkye. Silvana StoneSkye nods. Michael McHugh says, "For your sake, I hope the jury could hear you clearly." Silvana StoneSkye says, "That's understandable." Silvana StoneSkye smiles at Portia Bailey. Portia Bailey nods. Portia Bailey smiles. Michael McHugh says, "I have to say that I wouldn't be able to convict him on the evidence given, no offense Ms. Bailey." Michael McHugh says, "But, then, of course, I missed a section of the trial." Michael McHugh says, "Okay. That way, we won't have to go through another trial." Gregory Townsend just arrived. Gregory Townsend offers some French-roast coffee to Winston Chapel. Gregory Townsend sits down. Sami Market came through a double door. Winston Chapel glances at his expensive watch. Julie Green's group came through a double door. Arielle Drummond came through a double door. Julie Green sits down. Arielle Drummond sits down. Winston Chapel accepts some French-roast coffee from Gregory Townsend. Winston Chapel nods to Gregory Townsend. Gregory Townsend takes a sip of his French-roast coffee. Winston Chapel smiles. Michael McHugh says, "Wow. I guess it's good that just a simple majority is needed. Imagine how long it would take to get a unanimous decision." Terrisa Chavez's group came through a double door. Arielle Drummond sighs. Terrisa Chavez unlocks the handcuffs and removes them from Chandler Ghent's wrists. Terrisa Chavez puts her handcuffs in her leather briefcase. Chandler Ghent says, "Thank you, D.S. Chavez." Chandler Ghent smiles. Terrisa Chavez indicates his chair. Terrisa Chavez says, "Certainly." Terrisa Chavez nods to Chandler Ghent. Terrisa Chavez sits down. Arielle Drummond says, "Every trial is different." Portia Bailey nods to Terrisa Chavez. Donnelly Harriman's group came through a double door. Portia Bailey stands back up. Kara McLoud glances around. Donnelly Harriman disbands his group. Walt Zanderbilt sits down. Gregory Townsend stands back up. Gregory Townsend nods to Portia Bailey. Arielle Drummond stands back up.
