_________________________________________ / -Mysteries- \ | -January 22, 1999- | | Recorded & Edited by Aubrey McMichaels | \___http://pages.prodigy.net/aubreymcm/___/ [The Portmanteau Club, Sitting Room] The scent of gardenias lingers in this room, pushing away the odors of the street outside. A brace of wide, chintz covered couches face each other across the narrow bounds of a ring-marked coffee table, and armchairs gather around a many-branched reading lamp. You also see a dark green bean-bag, a swinging door, an ashcan, an archway and a large blackboard. Obvious exits: none. Raine Alekhin smiles, showing her dimple. Raine Alekhin asks, "Are we all ready?" Raine Alekhin calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down. Raine Alekhin says, "Hello everyone and welcome to the yearly installment of Investigations 101." Raine Alekhin says, "I'm going to cover several topics - and I'm going to cover them as though you all just recently stepped off the boat. It's going to be quick and basic coverage, and then at the conclusion of each topic, I will open the floor for questions. After the final topic, the floor will be open for general discussion." Raine Alekhin says, "As I'm sure you've discovered, our mysteries fall into two general categories: whodunit/revolvers and mysterious happenings. This forum is going to be a little more concerned with the whodunits/revolvers, but it is germane to mysterious happenings also." Raine Alekhin recites: "The topics I will cover are: Mysteries on Modus Mystery Etiquette Gathering Information from NPCs and GMPCs Crime Scene Techniques Crime Scene Technology Mystery Conclusions" Raine Alekhin says, "The first MAJOR thing to remember is that Modus is a genre developed specifically so that Y'ALL are the ones who solve the mysteries. The police department is ineffective intentionally. Why, you may ask... Well, if the CMPD actually investigated...if they actually did their jobs YOU would have nothing to do except watch." Raine Alekhin says, "Of course, in a real crime scene you would never be allowed to poke around a crime scene and you would be charged with harassment if you tried to question witnesses or suspects." Raine Alekhin exclaims, "Soooo....A worthless police force is a given here...and the impetus for mystery solutions is on you!" Raine Alekhin says, "Now, for the most part, mysteries are based on one main tenet: Motive, Means, and Opportunity." Raine Alekhin recites: "Who wanted the result? Who had the means to bring about the result? Who had the opportunity to bring about the result?" Raine Alekhin says, "In our mysteries and mystery events, if you can answer those questions in a LOGICAL and LINEAR manner, you'll be well on your way to solving...we don't make mysteries intentionally unsolvable. They may be tough and seemingly unsolvable, but never completely unsolvable." Raine Alekhin says, "Oh...linear meaning following conclusions to their natural end, rather than jumping to conclusions, tackling them to the ground and rubbing them into the turf." Raine Alekhin smiles, showing her dimple. Raine Alekhin says, "Now....Mystery Etiquette..." Raine Alekhin says, "Mystery Etiquette is a difficult topic. While we certainly want to encourage RP and mystery involvement, there is a very thin line between what is acceptable and what is not." Raine Alekhin says, "First, Tampering with evidence..." Raine Alekhin says, "Tampering with, hoarding or stealing unique evidence is not acceptable in any way, shape or form. I think you'll find that there is very little compassion for someone who intentionally tampers with evidence, ruining the mystery experience for others." Raine Alekhin says, "Now...Mystery Policies..." Raine Alekhin says, "The mystery policies concerning revolving mysteries can be found by typing News 2. These policies have been in effect for close to a year. Read them. Know them. Follow them. Ignorance of policy is not an excuse to break the rules." REVOLVING MYSTERY NEWS! If you find ANY technical problems with the mysteries, they need to be directed to either Raine or Ceit. We can be e-mailed at MO-RAINE@play.net or MO-CEIT@play.net. PLEASE read these revolving mystery "rules of the road": -The MO staff will never give you clues or hints to help you solve the mysteries. These are for you to solve on your own. -It is against MO policy for a player to provide clues, hints or solutions to another player for revolving mysteries. Don't give away the secret! Remember that providing information or clues or solutions for the mystery is not helping the person that you're providing with information. This will not help them to improve their sleuthing skills, but will instead allow them to take the "easy" route. It is unfair to the staff, who put an enormous amount of time into the design and development of a mystery, as well as to the players who DO spend the time and energy to solve it using their own brainpower. Raine Alekhin says, "Now this is a sticky topic...RPing around an event." Raine Alekhin says, "If you decide, and I'm neither encouraging nor discouraging this - it is your decision... If you decide that your character is going to be "based" for lack of a better word, on a current or past mystery event, please be very careful that you do not give or present conflicting information to other players." Raine Alekhin says, "We certainly don't want to inhibit your RP in any way, but mystery events are precisely planned, and the tiniest glitch can throw things very off." Raine Alekhin says, "So, ff you chose to RP your character in reference to an event, be very certain that you contact us...let us know what your plan is and we can let you know whether it will conflict with the event or not." Raine Alekhin asks, "Are there any questions?" Joy Nalewi stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Joy." Joy Nalewi says, "I have quite a few, actually..." Joy Nalewi blushes a nice shade of off-pink. Joy Nalewi waves to Raine Alekhin. Joy Nalewi grins. Joy Nalewi asks, "I've always considered means and opportunity to be part of the same... is there really a distinction?" Joy Nalewi furrows her brow. Raine Alekhin nods to Joy Nalewi. Joy Nalewi gets a distant look on her face as she ponders. Raine Alekhin says, "Means refers to 'how' something is accomplished." Raine Alekhin says, "Opportunity refers to the proper set of circumstances surrounding an event so that it can happen." Joy Nalewi says, "Ahhh..." Joy Nalewi nods. Raine Alekhin says, "At least in a criminal or mystery context." Joy Nalewi says, "Okay, about the CMPD..." Raine Alekhin nods. Joy Nalewi asks, "Are they always just for appearances, meaning they'll never be there for backup, or does it depend?" Joy Nalewi asks, "Information, protection, anything?" Raine Alekhin says, "That is going to depend on the specific mystery, Joy. As a general rule, I'd keep in the back of my mind that you don't have support or protection from this group of Keystone Cop wannabes." Joy Nalewi nods to Raine Alekhin. Joy Nalewi says, "No comment" Joy Nalewi ducks her head. Joy Nalewi grins. Raine Alekhin grins. Joy Nalewi asks, "Is it actually possible to tamper with evidence?" Joy Nalewi furrows her brow. Raine Alekhin nods to Joy Nalewi. Raine Alekhin says, "An example..." Joy Nalewi nods. Raine Alekhin says, "A certain mystery that is running now has a single unique item that is required for solving." Raine Alekhin says, "Individuals who had already solved the mystery were taking that item, putting it in their inventory and holding on to it for reasons of their own." Joy Nalewi says, "Ah, I was thinking of it in terms of changing the evidence in some way." Joy Nalewi nods. Joy Nalewi says, "I think that's about it, thanks." Joy Nalewi smiles at Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin smiles, showing her dimple. Having finished addressing the assembly Joy Nalewi sits back down. Gary Booth stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Gary." Gary Booth smiles. Gary Booth says, "Hi" Gary Booth says, "Well, I just have a comment" Gary Booth says, "On the subject of mysteries, I just wanted to say you did a faboulous job on the muesum mystery, and being new to the island, it was a very good first impression" Gary Booth smiles at Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin says, "I was not personally responsible for that, Gary, but I can assure that those who were are happy to hear you enjoyed it." Gary Booth nods to Raine Alekhin. Gary Booth says, "Thanks for your time" Raine Alekhin smiles, showing her dimple. Having finished addressing the assembly Gary Booth sits back down. Talia Fletcher stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Talia." Talia Fletcher says, "hello" Talia Fletcher says, "i am tring to do a certain mystery at the moment" Talia Fletcher says, "and often keep pieces on me" Talia Fletcher says, "is that tampering..as i am just waiting for it to reastart or ley me back in" Raine Alekhin says, "No, Talia, that isn't tampering because in the mystery you are referencing, the items are not unique." Talia Fletcher nods. Raine Alekhin smiles at Talia Fletcher. Talia Fletcher says, "thats good then.one less arrest" Talia Fletcher smiles. Raine Alekhin grins. Having finished addressing the assembly Talia Fletcher sits back down. Kim Canella stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Kim." Kim Canella says, "Hello" Kim Canella says, "This may not be a question you are free to answer...." Kim Canella says, "The new kits are great..." Kim Canella says, "But I am stumped about about what a forensics kit can test these days" Raine Alekhin grins at Kim Canella. Kim Canella blushes a nice shade of off-pink. Kim Canella blushes a nice shade of off-pink. Kim Canella asks, "Antiquated kit?" Raine Alekhin says, "That's a good question, but can we hold it until we get to Crime Scene Technology? I'll answer kit questions at that time." Kim Canella nods. Raine Alekhin says, "Thanks." Having finished addressing the assembly Kim Canella sits back down. Zaria Media stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Zaria." Zaria Media says, "hii" Zaria Media says, "my question is" Zaria Media says, "say me and a friend are solving a mystery together and neither of us have prior information on it" Zaria Media says, "its that okay or against the rules" Raine Alekhin says, "That's one of those gray areas, Zaria. If you are truly WORKING together rather than sponging off of someone else or giving someone else answers, then it's okay." Zaria Media nods to Raine Alekhin. Zaria Media says, "okay thanks" Raine Alekhin smiles, showing her dimple. Zaria Media sits down. Having finished addressing the assembly Zaria Media sits back down. Raine Alekhin asks, "Any more questions on policy or etiquette?" Raine Alekhin says, "Okay..." Raine Alekhin says, "Now...on to Gathering Information from NPCs and GMPCs." Raine Alekhin says, "First, gathering information from NPCs...In reference to mysteries, NPCs are very particular about answering questions, as many of you have discovered." Raine Alekhin says, "However, if you carefully phrase your questions, keeping in mind the mystery and normal phrasing of speech, you'll get responses to your questions and discover a wealth of information." Raine Alekhin says, "Example..." Raine Alekhin says, "Oh! A big hint, many mysteries are not going to start with a PBR message, so check out the message boards...keep your eyes open. But for the sake of example:" Raine Alekhin says, "A mystery starts with a PBR message saying to read a posted notice. Go read the notice! At the most, it will take you an additional few minutes, but it will most likely give you a great start. So, read the notice and then go the starting NPC." Raine Alekhin says, "Do what the notice said to do...a good starting question may be, "I read your notice, do you need help?" " Raine Alekhin says, "Now, you can move along with the questioning. Let's say Nick needs help finding a stolen box of cocktail napkins. The question would be, "Describe the missing/stolen box of napkins?" or "Where/When did you last see the box of napkins?" and then continue on in that manner, based on Nick's answers." Raine Alekhin says, "Just remember that NPC answers are based on questions asking "who, what, when, where, why, how" and they are based on events surrounding the mystery and the previous NPC responses. They won't reference items not mentioned somewhere in the mystery." Raine Alekhin says, "Now...gathering information from GMPCs." Raine Alekhin exclaims, "I will say it a couple of times...shoot, I'll probably say it a bajillion times - INTERVIEW, DON'T INTERROGATE!" Raine Alekhin exclaims, "Interrogations are reserved for NYPD Blue, the movies and in very rare RL police situations. We're not tv, the movies, or RL. So...Interview, do not interrogate!" Raine Alekhin says, "A homicide detective I interned with once said, "If you columbize 'em, they'll love you for life and never figure out how you got 'em. Criminals are inherently stupid or vain. Take your pick." " Raine Alekhin says, "This is great advice. The less confrontational you are, in general, the more rapport you'll build with an individual or the more secure the individual will become. And from that, the more information you'll gather." Raine Alekhin says, "This, please remember, is a general -not absolute- rule." Raine Alekhin says, "There will always be those GMPCs whose characterization is mean, nasty and uncooperative. So, work around it." Raine Alekhin says, "But ALWAYS remember that in our genre, RP is very important...so work around it in character." Raine Alekhin says, "So, while in character, interview -- do not interrogate -- GMPC characters. If you play your cards right, you'll get the information you're looking for. Or maybe information you're not looking for." Raine Alekhin asks, "Any questions?" Yael Zee stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Yael." Yael Zee says, "lo. nice place. " Yael Zee asks, "question - what's a gmpc?" Raine Alekhin smiles, showing her dimple. Raine Alekhin says, "Sorry...I guess I should have been a little more specific." Yael Zee grins. Raine Alekhin says, "GMPCs are GameMaster Player Characters." Yael Zee says, "i'm kinda new." Yael Zee says, "thanks. that's all i wanted to know." Yael Zee sits down. Raine Alekhin says, "You're welcome." Having finished addressing the assembly Yael Zee sits back down. Joy Nalewi stands up to address the assembly. Joy Nalewi says, "Sorry, I'm full of 'em tonight..." Joy Nalewi grins. Raine Alekhin says, "Hola again, Joy." Raine Alekhin grins. Joy Nalewi asks, "What if a character has reason to be angry with one of the mystery characters...? Is it still beyond bounds to interrogate?" Joy Nalewi gets a distant look on her face as she ponders. Raine Alekhin says, "That's going to be up to you in your RP of your character." Joy Nalewi nods. Raine Alekhin says, "One piece of advice I can give you is that anger tends to make the brain move slower. I don't think I've ever seen a good detective who is an angry detective." Joy Nalewi says, "Okay, I got the impression that it was a bad idea no matter what" Joy Nalewi chuckles. Joy Nalewi nods to Raine Alekhin. Brian Indiana came through an archway. Joy Nalewi says, "Okay, thanks." Joy Nalewi smiles at Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin says, "I'm talking theory here. You're of course welcome to throw what I say out the window...it's totally up to you." Raine Alekhin grins. Joy Nalewi laughs! Raine Alekhin says, "Let me clarify that...do NOT throw what I said about Policy and Etiquette out the window..." Joy Nalewi nods to Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin asks, "Anything else for now?" Joy Nalewi shakes her head. Joy Nalewi grins. Raine Alekhin grins at Joy Nalewi. Having finished addressing the assembly Joy Nalewi sits back down. Raine Alekhin asks, "Any other questions about NPCs or GMPCs?" Raine Alekhin says, "Okay...then on to crime scene techniques..." Raine Alekhin says, "Well, basically, everyone has his or her own style. That's certainly a given. However, if you follow a few basic rules, you'll probably manage to catch all the evidence there is to find...notwithstanding checks for skill and profession." Raine Alekhin grins. Raine Alekhin says, "First, LOOK at every single thing that could possibly be looked at in a room description. Then look ON, IN, BEHIND, and UNDER everything you find. Develop an idea of what may have happened. Just develop this idea, don't latch onto it for dear life. One of the biggest problems I've witnessed is inflexibility to accept an alternative possibility of what happened." Raine Alekhin says, "Secondly, SEARCH. And then SEARCH items. And SEARCH again. Further develop or change your idea of what happened." Raine Alekhin says, "Thirdly, attempt to utilize your other senses. SMELL is a good one. PEER is another. ANALYZE is another." Raine Alekhin says, "Fourth, sample specific evidence if necessary." Raine Alekhin says, "Which leads us to Crime Scene Technology..." Raine Alekhin says, "New, changed and improved kits. You can read all about them in the catalogue at Gizmogoria. You'll want to make sure that you read the descriptions carefully and you train accordingly if you're interested in getting better results from sampling." Raine Alekhin says, "There are now 8 rather than 6 levels of sampling ability ranging from minimal ability to expert ability. There is no hard and fast rule for how high your sample ability will be in relation to your skills. The relationship is proportional AFTER a random throw of the dice has been added in." Raine Alekhin says, "And now for that all-important part of mysteries...The Conclusions." Raine Alekhin says, "In revolvers, the conclusion is set out...deliver these papers and come back and tell me...bring me back my ring..." Raine Alekhin says, "If you pay close attention, you'll see the hints as to what to do." Raine Alekhin says, "In mystery events, the conclusions will be different. You may have to present something to a GMPC...you may have to do a 'CLUE' accounting of events..." Raine Alekhin says, "It may not be OBVIOUS what you are to do...that's part of it being a mystery, but it will become more clear as the event goes on." Raine Alekhin asks, "Are there any questions?" Benton Fraser stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Benton." Benton Fraser asks, "Yes, I'm still confused on a GMPC. Is that like Phil Sather?" Benton Fraser smiles at Raine Alekhin. Benton Fraser asks, "Oh, and what did you mean about rolling dice?" Benton Fraser grins at Brian Indiana. Raine Alekhin says, "No, Constable Sather is an NPC." Raine Alekhin says, "GMPCs are regular characters played by GMs specifically for event, mystery or color purposes." Benton Fraser scratches his head, looking a bit confused. Benton Fraser asks, "But GM's play him sometimes, don't they?" Benton Fraser says, "Noelle CAnova then" Benton Fraser nods to Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin says, "And the phrase 'roll of the dice' refers to a number generated at random...as in 'random roll of the dice'." Benton Fraser says, "Oh" Benton Fraser asks, "How is it generated?" Raine Alekhin says, "Randomly." Benton Fraser says, "O-K" Benton Fraser says, "Thanks" Raine Alekhin smiles, showing her dimple. Benton Fraser smiles at Raine Alekhin. Having finished addressing the assembly Benton Fraser sits back down. Yael Zee stands up to address the assembly. Yael Zee says, "sorry... i'm a little mal-co-ordinated... i just wanted to raise my EYEBROWS. ended up with my hand waving around..." Yael Zee shrugs. Yael Zee blushes a nice shade of off-pink. Yael Zee laughs! Raine Alekhin grins. Yael Zee sits down. Raine Alekhin says, "No problem." Having finished addressing the assembly Yael Zee sits back down. Luca Brazzi stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Luca." Luca Brazzi bows to Raine Alekhin. Luca Brazzi says, "good evening" Luca Brazzi says, "I apologise if this has been covered already, I got here halfway into this....." Luca Brazzi leans on Liz Larson. Luca Brazzi asks, "but what about the noto rewards for the different mysteries?" Luca Brazzi says, "I mean...." Luca Brazzi asks, "is solving the mysteries a supplement to hunting or could one thrive here on the mysteries alone?" Luca rocks back and forth on his heels. Luca Brazzi hums a tune softly to himself. Luca Brazzi pets Liz Larson in a patronizing manner. Raine Alekhin says, "Well, solving, in and of itself isn't enough to subsist on. I'd say, don't quit your day job. Other than that, it is a very good supplement to other forms of gathering noto and moolah. Rewards in notoriety and cash are determined by mystery authors. We try to base them on how difficult a mystery is and how much work it would take someone to solve it." Luca Brazzi chuckles. Raine Alekhin says, "So...some will get you 5k in noto while others will only get you $330.00" Luca Brazzi nods. Luca Brazzi nods. Luca Brazzi says, "Oh, and Raine? One more thing....." Luca Brazzi asks, "did anyone ever tell you that you have the cutest little dimple?" Luca Brazzi winks at Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin blushes a nice shade of off-pink. Luca Brazzi just tickled Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin says, "Uh, gracias yo creo." Having finished addressing the assembly Luca Brazzi sits back down. Gary Booth stands up to address the assembly. Gary Booth dusts himself off. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi again, Gary." Gary Booth says, "Yea, hey" Gary Booth smiles at Raine Alekhin. Gary Booth says, "Anyway..." Gary Booth grins at Yael Zee. Gary Booth says, "I was jus wondering if there are some new mysteries to go along with the nice new kits" Gary Booth smiles. Raine Alekhin grins. Raine Alekhin says, "Curiosity killed the cat, Gary." Gary Booth cowers away from Raine Alekhin! Gary Booth says, "Eekk" Raine Alekhin says, "There are ALWAYS new mysteries in the works. I have a stack of possible ideas a mile high on my desk." Gary Booth cackles gleefully. Gary Booth nods to Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin says, "But, there's always room for more...." Gary Booth nods. Gary Booth agrees with Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin says, "This is going to be where I plug Player Mysteries." Raine Alekhin says, "Y'all can design your own mysteries and then, if approved, run them." Gary Booth sits down on the nice bean-bag, his turn over. Gary Booth bows to Raine Alekhin. Having finished addressing the assembly Gary Booth sits back down. Benton Fraser stands up to address the assembly. Benton Fraser asks, "Hi again! I was wondering if you could reopen your investigations training area in the Hidden Cove again for a while?" Raine Alekhin gets a distant look on her face as she ponders. Benton Fraser says, "A lot of us never got to work in there much" Raine Alekhin says, "I think that was all destroyed during Mitch or some hurricane of that nature." Benton Fraser snaps his fingers. Raine Alekhin says, "Sorry." Benton Fraser asks, "Did you ever post the solutions?" Raine Alekhin nods to Benton Fraser. Raine Alekhin smiles at Benton Fraser. Raine Alekhin says, "And please don't ask where...I'll never remember right off hand. Write me and I'll see what I can dig up." Raine Alekhin asks, "Anything else, Benton?" Benton Fraser says, "OK, maybe I'll check back there then" Benton Fraser asks, "Oh, and what did you mean, "approved"?" Benton Fraser asks, "If we can do a mystery on our own without help, does it still need to be "approved"?" Benton Fraser smiles. Raine Alekhin nods to Benton Fraser. Benton Fraser gets a distant look on his face as he ponders. Benton Fraser says, "Thank you, kindly" Having finished addressing the assembly Benton Fraser sits back down. Aimee Velvett stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Aimee." Aimee Velvett smiles. Aimee Velvett says, "ello" Aimee Velvett asks, "Can ye elaborate on the player mysteries a wee bit more.. I am confused.. do ye design them and then send them in fer approval?" Aimee Velvett smiles. Raine Alekhin says, "Sure, Aimee." Aimee Velvett says, "Thank ye " Aimee Velvett smiles. Raine Alekhin says, "Players can design, create, invent...your choice of words...their own mysteries. It does however require a few things." Raine Alekhin says, "First, you'll need to have a plot. A SOLID plot. Not a well, maybe we'll do this, plot." Aimee Velvett nods. Raine Alekhin says, "And you'll need to have eventualities. A plan for what you'll do if players react in this way or that way." Raine Alekhin asks, "And you'll need to plan EVERYTHING out exactly. Are you going to need evidence? Where is that going to come from?" Raine Alekhin says, "What involvement are you going to want from GMs." Aimee Velvett asks, "Can ye make design objects that the powers that be will make fer ye?" Raine Alekhin says, "That will be up to GM approval. You can certainly ask for them." Aimee Velvett nods. Aimee Velvett says, "Thank ye fer answerin' me questions, lass " Aimee Velvett smiles. Raine Alekhin says, "You're welcome." Aimee Velvett sits down. Having finished addressing the assembly Aimee Velvett sits back down. Zaria Media stands up to address the assembly. Zaria Media says, "hii again" Raine Alekhin smiles at Zaria Media. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, again." Zaria Media says, "one quick ques" Zaria Media says, "k when we make write a mystery do we have to use npc already here or can we make new onens and stuff like dat" Raine Alekhin says, "Player mysteries should be based on role play. It is very unlikely that you'd be able to use an NPC...and it's even more unlikely that an NPC would be created specifically for you." Zaria Media nods to Raine Alekhin. Having finished addressing the assembly Zaria Media sits back down. Snake Silvertongue stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Snake." Snake Silvertongue smiles. Raine Alekhin smiles, showing her dimple. Snake Silvertongue exclaims, "Howdy, Raine!" Snake Silvertongue says, "I just wanted to mention that a copy of player-run mystery guidelines by Siri are listed at my website" Snake Silvertongue coughs. Raine Alekhin grins. Snake Silvertongue says, "Hope you don't mind the plug, and I think Aubrey and Dave have them listed as well" Raine Alekhin asks, "And your site is?" Snake Silvertongue says, "http//members.aol.com/bokonon009/index.htm" Snake Silvertongue says, "And you can find links there to Dave and Aubrey's sites, too" Raine Alekhin smiles, showing her dimple. Raine Alekhin says, "Thanks, Snake." Having finished addressing the assembly Snake Silvertongue sits back down. Raine Alekhin asks, "Are there any other questions?" Aimee Velvett raises her hand. Aimee Velvett stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin smiles at Aimee Velvett. Aimee Velvett smiles. Aimee Velvett says, "One more quick question" Aimee Velvett asks, "Can people work together on writin' a mystery?" Raine Alekhin nods to Aimee Velvett. Aimee Velvett says, "ok.. thanks " Aimee Velvett smiles. Raine Alekhin says, "You're welcome." Having finished addressing the assembly Aimee Velvett sits back down. Raine Alekhin asks, "Any other questions?" Zaria Media raises her hand. Zaria Media stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin smiles at Zaria Media. Zaria Media says, "do we get something for writhing a mystery or is it just for the sake that we did" Raine Alekhin says, "I guess it'd be for the sake of doing it, Zaria. There's nothing in place to let players 'get something' for creating mysteries, other than seeing their creations take shape." Zaria Media nods to Raine Alekhin. Zaria Media says, "just checking" Zaria Media exclaims, "thanks!!" Raine Alekhin smiles at Zaria Media. Zaria Media giggles. Having finished addressing the assembly Zaria Media sits back down. Snake Silvertongue stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin smiles at Snake Silvertongue. Snake Silvertongue asks, "Sorry, but I did have one last question. Will you tell us what skills are used with the new kits like in the last Forum?" Snake Silvertongue asks, "Or is that a mystery, too?" Raine Alekhin gets a distant look on her face as she ponders. Raine Alekhin says, "Hmmm....wellll...." Raine Alekhin asks, "Are you specifically wondering about the new kits? Or all kits?" Snake Silvertongue says, "Oh, the new kits, I believe you already told us about the previous ones" Raine Alekhin nods to Snake Silvertongue. Raine Alekhin says, "Okay...new kits." Raine Alekhin says, "There's Ballistics. Deals with firearms, based on firearms." Snake Silvertongue says, "I mean, most are pretty obvious, but for example the Electronics stuff for Paras caught me from left field last time" Snake Silvertongue nods to Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin says, "Well, Snake, there are changes to other kits as well. New and Improved." Snake Silvertongue says, "Paranormal kits, I mean" Raine Alekhin says, "Okay...so, anyway...then we have profiling. It is a kit which is based on psychological skills." Snake Silvertongue asks, "So, the kits give better results? Or wider results?" Raine Alekhin says, "The kit which samples soil and dirt is based on agronomy." Snake Silvertongue nods to Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin says, "Kit results will be based, still, on player skill. The player skill may just have to be a little different." Raine Alekhin says, "The kit which samples animal traces is based on zoology." Raine Alekhin says, "And the Patterning Kit is based on forensics." Raine Alekhin says, "Now...the improvements..." Raine Alekhin says, "Paranormal kits are based on paranormal metaphysics. Electronics may have worked for the Ghost Busters, but we found it wasn't working here." Snake Silvertongue nods to Raine Alekhin. Raine Alekhin says, "Fluid sampling--serological sampling, formerly known as blood sampling, is based on forensics." Raine Alekhin asks, "Any other kits you have questions about?" Snake Silvertongue says, "Oh, okay, that para stuff kinda caught me off guard at the last Forum, anyways" Raine Alekhin nods to Snake Silvertongue. Snake Silvertongue says, "Nope" Raine Alekhin says, "I think it caught most people off guard." Snake Silvertongue smiles at Raine Alekhin. Snake Silvertongue says, "Not that I a Para or know nay or anything" Snake Silvertongue coughs. Raine Alekhin grins at Snake Silvertongue. Raine Alekhin says, "I understand." Snake Silvertongue says, "Um, that last phrase was, uh, scramble for security reasons" Raine Alekhin says, "Of course." Having finished addressing the assembly Snake Silvertongue sits back down. Kim Canella stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Kim." Raine Alekhin smiles, showing her dimple. Kim Canella asks, "With the new more distinctive testing abilities for the new kits....what is a forensics kit useful for these days?" Raine Alekhin says, "The forensics kit is useful for all those icky dead bodies lying around." Kim Canella shudders. Raine Alekhin grins. Kim Canella asks, "All right,,still useful, hmm?" Raine Alekhin says, "Corpses still fall under the umbrella of the forensics kit." Raine Alekhin nods to Kim Canella. Kim Canella says, "Thank you" Raine Alekhin says, "You're welcome." Having finished addressing the assembly Kim Canella sits back down. Raine Alekhin asks, "Are there any other questions?" Jon Garfield raises his hand. Jon Garfield stands up to address the assembly. Raine Alekhin says, "Hi, Jon." Jon Garfield asks, "I was wondering how the psychology kit would work in practice. I understand what you mean about profiling, but would you sample a GMPC/NPC with it to find info about them or something?" Raine Alekhin says, "The profiling kit is designed as a series of questions to be filled out at a scene. It's use is for crime scene analysis only." Raine Alekhin says, "So...in practice, you might 'sample scene' with it." Jon Garfield asks, "Ah, so it will work a bit differently than the standard kits? Or do you sample the room and take it to the lab?" Jon Garfield nods. Jon Garfield catches on quick, sometimes. Jon Garfield grins. Raine Alekhin says, "You still take it to the lab...they will analyze your results and compile them for you." Jon Garfield says, "Thanks, I'd been wondering how those would work." Jon Garfield nods. Having finished addressing the assembly Jon Garfield sits back down. Raine Alekhin asks, "Are there any other questions?" Raine Alekhin asks, "On any mystery subject at all?" Raine Alekhin asks, "Or any area of investigations?" Raine Alekhin says, "Well, then, I thank you all for your time." Raine Alekhin opens the floor back up for general discussion.
