_________________________________________ / -Moradian Independence Day Parade- \ | -January 13, 2001- | | Recorded & Edited by Aubrey McMichaels | \___http://pages.prodigy.net/aubreymcm/___/ [University, Football Field] This field has certainly seen a lot of use. Large portions of grass are missing from the field, resulting in a patchwork of turf and dirt. Helmets have been tossed haphazardly into a pile near the chain link fencing that surrounds the ratty field. A group of players are bending and stretching on the field, talking and laughing loudly. Uncomfortable bleachers in desperate need of painting line both sides of the field. Although rickety in appearance, they are actually quite stable. You also see a tackle dummy, the coach's cart at the side of the field, a pile of helmets and an open gate. Obvious paths: none. Sierra Hudson mounts a spirited white Arabian stallion, decked out in a regal black leather saddle stamped with the crest of the Royal Stables and a braided leather bridle, accented with brilliant scarlet and gold tassles with small but lively bells, his mane and tail brushed and combed into fullness. Sierra Hudson calms the jittery stallion with a few strokes of his mane and a soft voice. Savannah Reynolds asks, "Grand Marshall, are you ready?" Sierra Hudson says, "Ready, Madame Guide." Sierra Hudson takes the reins in her right hand and carefully arranges the skirt of her gown over the left side of the horse. The scarlet of the gown's skirt shimmers against the horse's white coat. Savannah Reynolds says, "Whenever you're ready, Madam Marshall." Sierra Hudson guides the stallion in a slow circle, as she surveys the line of floats behind her to see that everyone is ready. The bells in the horse's scarlet and gold tassles jingle merrily, and Sierra gives a short sharp blow on a whistle to indicate the parade is about to start. The horse responds with a toss of his head. Sierra Hudson clucks her tongue quickly, and gives a quick little kick with her left foot. The horse responds immediately and begins a spirited high-stepping trot down the field. Sierra Hudson pulls back lightly on the reins as the stallion reaches the reviewing stand, and the horse slows to a stately walk. Another slight tug, and the stallion comes to a complete stop. Sierra leans forward, gathering the reins in both hands close to the horse's mane, and seems to whisper something into the stallion's ears. Immediately, the horse pushes up with his forelegs and rears back, holding the seemingly-impossible pose for several seconds while Sierra maintains her balance with her hands, her body leaning close into the horse's neck. Sierra Hudson gives another quick light kick of her left foot, and the stallion comes down out of his pose and bows his head quickly. Sierra beams and pats the horse's neck, and he resumes his spirited trot. Sierra Hudson exclaims, "Good boy, Omar!" Sierra Hudson pats the horse's neck and readjusts her seat as they trot to the end of the field. Kim Canella sits on the bank of the Guide float under a papier-mache Jacaranda tree. A brilliantly colored parrot formed of tropical flowers perches on the branch behind her. Kim Canella raises her fishing rod, and swings it back to cast it, the parrot wildly flaps its wings and squawks as Kim accidentally catches it with her hook. Kim Canella smiles and waves as petals from the parrot shower down over her head. Savannah Reynolds swings her fishing pole out over the crowd and ducks her head as the hook swings precariously close to the spectators. She smiles and waves while trying to control her bait. Savannah Reynolds squeaks in panic as her hook almost snags Kim! The two Guides lean away from each other, laughing a little nervously and nervously glancing about on the lookout for flying dangers. Savannah Reynolds waves back at Sam and then secures her fishing gear on the floor of the float. She points up at the bright blue sign that reads,"Fishing Tournament" Samson Spade nods to the crowd, smiling boastfully, while leaning on a paper-mache sword fish that is hanging from the stern of the plywood boat. One hand is holding a large surf-rod. He flips a casual thumb at a sign in back of him, Catch of the day! Samson Spade jumps, and looks shocked as his catch, the sword fish seems to spring to life and thrash about. a recorded sound of some warbled screeching issues from a hidden speaker on the mast of the plywood boat. Samson Spade smiles and waves to the crowd as the plywood boat rocks and bobs off the fie. Angel McNabb and Brenton Miller O'Malley rise up from under there platform in the center of the halo and move to the front of there float and wave to the people standing on the side with large smiles on there faces while there float comes into view. Brenton Miller-O'Malley grins. Brenton Miller-O'Malley beams at the crowd. Brenton Miller-O'Malley runs over to the large tartan patterened halo that is in the middle of there float being supported with a large wooden beam on the edge of it and climbs up to the top and stands on the halo while yelling, "I"M KING OF THE WORLD!!!" Brenton Miller-O'Malley and Angel McNabb's second platform come into view with 3 flags, The Majestic Moradian, the British Flag, and The USA"s flag! Angel McNabb leans on the float. Brenton Miller-O'Malley hops down of the halo and onto the second float. Angel McNabb moves to the very second float and beams with pride as he leans against the Majestic Moradian flag. The flag's image is of a palm tree with a map of the whole island in the background with two little dots marking "the pub" and "the cricket" Brenton Miller-O'Malley waves estatically as the float moves out of view and grins ear to ear at the crowd and yells, "GOOD NIGHT!!" and sweeps Angel up into a crazy sort of dance. Tessa Lant takes her place with Teka Smith on their float. Tessa Lant watches Gabriel Strange sneer as he supervises a chain gang of henchmen, dressed in orange jumpsuits. He barks out orders to them as they maneuver a huge float into its place in the parade. Tessa Lant glances upward, and following her gaze you see Teka Smith standing on what appears to be the deck of the Abandoned Luxury Yacht "Atlantis". Teka Smith renders a snappy salute to Gabe as he boards the ship after locking up his prisoners in the brig. She watches him give the order to raise and secure the gangplank. Tessa Lant pulls a lever on the mast of the ship, and a loud horn blast startles you. You hear a bellow of "All aboard!" and the yacht begins to move slowly along the parade route. Teka Smith smiles and waves to the crowds. She is wearing her finest boating outfit. She chuckles as Gabe tosses out boson's whistles to the kids below. Tessa Lant waves. Tessa Lant ducks to avoid being hit by a flying whistle. Behind her you can see the Captain of the yacht peering out from a porthole. Teka Smith turns a crank and a banner is unfurled across the stern of the boat. "Look to the future, but remember the past" is emblazoned on the banner in glittery gold letters. Teka Smith taps her foot in rhythm with a Carib March being played by a band following the float. Tessa Lant waves. Tessa Lant grins. Tessa Lant smiles radiantly from atop the magnificent boat, doing a princess wave as the float disappears from view. Tessa Lant gets a happy grin on her face as she tosses a handful of rainbow-colored confetti into the air! Brandi Carson and Britney Carson walk across the field with smiles on their faces, their float not far behind. As the float strolls into view, you begin to see popcorn kernels shooting out of the top and flying to your feet. Brandi Carson and Britney Carson turn to face the crowd and wave ecstatically. As you look to examine the float, you see a giant cup of popcorn. You notice that 15 people are standing on the float, dressed up exactly like the giant kernels, refilling the enormous machine. Britney Carson britney Carson pushes a button on a tiny controller resting in her hand. The red and white stripes on the popcorn cup suddenly light up the area, and huge kernels come flying out of it, almost never reaching the ground! Brandi Carson then pushes a button on her controller and huge arms extract from the popcorn cup. The arms are loaded with bags of popcorn, and it tosses them into the crowd. Britney Carson jumps onto the float and pushes a button attached to the popcorn cup. Suddenly, a voice emanating from the float yells out "Happy Independence Day!" Immediately after following the shout, the popcorn machine explodes one last time, signalling the end of the stunning performance! Britney fills the small kettle with a small amount of kernels from one of the bottom drawers and turns on the switch on the side of the machine. The popcorn machine begins whirring and shaking violently, and you see the kernels inside the glass explode into fluffy white popcorn. A red and white striped paper bag drops onto a small shelf as steaming popcorn fills the bag to the top. Reaching out from within the machine, a small mechanical arm grabs the bag and extends out, shoving it into Britney's hand before retracting quickly back into the machine. Savannah Reynolds recites: "Thank you all for your floats! And your creativity!" Kim Canella exclaims, "Happy Independence Day!" Sierra Hudson hands Omar's reins to the jauntily-dressed gentleman in the blazer with the crest of the Royal Stables on his breast pocket. She carefully dismounts, making sure to kick the skirt of her gown away from her as she lands lightly on her feet. Sierra Hudson waves as the man leads Omar off the field. Savannah Reynolds recites: "We have prizes for each competitor, and a big Thank You for our Grand Marshall Sierra Hudson!"
