(15) By MO-TREVOR@PLAY.NET (GameMaster Trevor Rage) On Jul 14, 1999 at 22:47 I screwed up on a comment during the reallocation forum. This is why it's good to be on topic in forums The current plan is that players will NOT be able to change their age when they go through the character manager again. I had stated they would be able to. My apologies for the misinformation! -- Rage ***************************************************** [The Portmanteau Club, Sitting Room] The light scent of gardenias lingers in this room, pushing away the more mundane odors of the street outside. A brace of wide, chintz covered couches face each other across the narrow bounds of a ring-marked coffee table, each showing signs of having recently been occupied. A group of armchairs gather around a many -branched reading lamp, and offer a small haven of well-worn comfort for those inclined to sit with a good book or the daily newspaper. You also see a Rio's Best, a casino brochure, a large blackboard, an archway, an ashcan and a swinging door. Also in the room: People Obvious exits: none. Announcement: Join Trevor Rage NOW for the Reallocation Forum! The forum is being held in the Portmanteau Club as usual. Trevor Rage just arrived. Trevor Rage waves. Trevor Rage calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down. Trevor Rage whistles a cheerful tune. Trevor Rage exclaims, "Alllright. Thanks to all for coming!" Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage says, "I've got to be honest here. Unless you have a lot of questions, this will be fairly quick compared to other forums." Trevor Rage says, "I want to first point out some things about reallocation in general." Trevor Rage says, "First of all, regardless of how we do it, the basic math is the same." Trevor Rage says, "That is, any skills we don't have in the future will not be wasted. Those skill points will go somewhere." Trevor Rage says, "Where exactly they go will be somewhat up to you all, in terms of what method of reallocation we as a mass pick." Trevor Rage says, "Some things I'm taking in account.." Trevor Rage says, "Teaching. I don't know how many points you've gotten from teaching individually." Trevor Rage says, "Therefore, I plan on giving you all a certain amount of skill points, period." Trevor Rage says, "Probably 50 points. That's pretty liberal. I doubt any of you have gone over 50 lessons." Trevor Rage says, "There has also been some concern about how your profession effects how many points you get and how things will be messed up if we go with a full reallocation. This is not a concern. Full or partial, I'll ensure everyone has as many skill points as before reallocation.. actually more after than before." Trevor Rage says, "Now, there are two types reallocation to consider." Trevor Rage says, "One is partial. This means We convert your skill points straight over. If you have 200 in evasion before, you'll have 200 in evasion after." Trevor Rage says, "If you have 200 in printing and engraving, it will be put somewhere. Not sure where yet, but somewhere. Since printing and engraving is not in the new skill list, it will have to be designated." Trevor Rage says, "The second type of reallocation is full reallocation." Trevor Rage says, "This is where we give you a chunk of points. These points are based on your level etc. You can spend these any way you like, like a skills shopping spree." Trevor Rage says, "This however, does mean your character may be totally different than what he/she was before.. but that's your choice." Trevor Rage says, "Let me clarify on the teaching points I mentioned. This is not 50 points in teaching skill." Trevor Rage says, "I mean that you will be given 50 points to spend on skills as you like, if we go with full reallocation. 50 free points, to make sure you get the benefit of classes you were taught." Trevor Rage says, "After we're done here tonight, I'll work on putting up a survey to decide the most popular method of reallocation. After some reasonable time, I'll publish the results." Trevor Rage says, "Ok, I covered the basics. I'll start taking questions now." Teona Cole stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage asks, "Teona?" Teona Cole says, "Hi all. WEll I have more comments..." Trevor Rage nods. Teona Cole says, "Than questtions" Trevor Rage says, "Alright." Trevor Rage smiles. Teona Cole says, "Icly my character wanted to learn how to paint and do pbhotgorpth witch I know has nothing to do with my profseion. I think with full reallocation I would keep what I'v learen sicne I'm about to go to my train station" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "That will be up to each person, if we use full reallocation. There's absolutely no reason why you can't train exactly the same as you did before. It's your choice totally." Trevor Rage smiles. Teona Cole says, "And as far as my fighting skills they arn't very good. and if we where given more points I qwould live longer" Teona Cole says, "ok" Teona Cole says, "I'm done" Teona Cole sits down. Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage says, "Thanks." Having finished addressing the assembly Teona Cole sits back down. Joy Nalewi stands up to address the assembly. Joy Nalewi waves. Joy Nalewi turns off her communicator. Trevor Rage says, "`Lo Joy." Trevor Rage smiles. Joy Nalewi says, "I have two questions, actually." Joy Nalewi grins. Trevor Rage nods. Joy Nalewi asks, "First, would our skill change affect our actual level at all?" Joy Nalewi says, "I mean, it is called notoriety" Joy Nalewi grins. Trevor Rage says, "Nope, your level won't change. Neither will your notoriety points." Trevor Rage smiles. Joy Nalewi nods. Joy Nalewi asks, "Okay, also, would there be a time limit to how long we could wait to spend our chunk of points?" Joy Nalewi says, "I might want to wait and see how things worked out before deciding" Trevor Rage says, "Well, the reallocation is like a phone booth. You step in, do the reallocation, step out." Joy Nalewi asks, "But we'd have to do it right away?" Trevor Rage says, "You might be able to save some as soft skill points, but I'd have to discuss that with the staff." Joy Nalewi nods. Trevor Rage says, "For hard skills, definitely yes at this time. For soft skills, probably at this time." Joy Nalewi says, "It'd just be nice to see how things actually worked, and maked an educated choice" Joy Nalewi nods. Joy Nalewi says, "Okay." Joy Nalewi says, "I'm done, then" Joy Nalewi grins. Trevor Rage nods. Joy Nalewi says, "Thanks" Trevor Rage says, "If possible, I'll make it so you can wait around and not reallocate right away. You won't have squat for skills, but you won't have to do it right away. This if we go full method." Trevor Rage smiles. Joy Nalewi nods. Joy Nalewi says, "That'd be great" Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage asks, "Anything else?" Joy Nalewi shakes her head. Joy Nalewi says, "Nope, thankls" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage grins. Having finished addressing the assembly Joy Nalewi sits back down. John Edmiston stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage says, "`Lo, John." John Edmiston jumps into the air and gives Trevor Rage a triumphant high five. John Edmiston says, "Hey" Trevor Rage grins. John Edmiston asks, "Trevor, about teaching, since you will gain points by doing, my skills as a combat teacher won't be much good, because they could make that point hunting for 45 mins and gain money and noto, is there something that will make lessons more wanted?" Trevor Rage says, "Well, to a point. If someone doesn't want to go through the mundane hunting over and over, or wishes to improve skill in a weapon they don't normally use, yes." John Edmiston says, "k" John Edmiston asks, "'And I thought we were going to take the points we had, and convert those, say if I have 1057 points, I relocate 1057 points, is this not whats going to happen?" Trevor Rage says, "When it comes down to it, DOING things will be more popular overall. Just the way it works." Trevor Rage grins. John Edmiston grins. Trevor Rage says, "Well, not exactly." Trevor Rage says, "If we go partial realloc, yes, 1057=1057." Trevor Rage says, "Ah, I just remembered something important.." Trevor Rage says, "On FULL reallocation, I'm not basing the points you get on profession or age. Only level." Trevor Rage says, "The max points anyone gets per level to spend right now is .. I think 132? Something like that. That's the number I'll work with." John Edmiston asks, "so there is a possibility I could come out with less points than I had before with the full?" John Edmiston says, "i mean, technically" Trevor Rage says, "132 or whatever it is, times your number of levels. However, because not all of our skills have cost 1 point per skill point, I'll probably divide that by 2." John Edmiston asks, "what about the skills I started with as a newbie, will those be taken into account?" Trevor Rage says, "So, something like 66 per level maybe. This is NOT the formula. Just a guess." John Edmiston cringes. Trevor Rage says, "Those skill points will be taken into account, yes." John Edmiston says, "k" John Edmiston says, "And last, a suggestion, why not leave both relocation methods open, one for the lazy people, and one for people that want to change themselves." Trevor Rage says, "Basically you're looking at: (X points per level) + (X points from 'newbie skills') + (50 points from the teaching bonus)." John Edmiston grins. John Edmiston says, "k" Trevor Rage says, "It would be unbalanced. Full is likely to give everyone more skill overall." John Edmiston shrugs. John Edmiston says, "ok" John Edmiston says, "oh, and off-topic, we need monkeys in the jungle" Trevor Rage says, "Unfortunately, people can't change their mind later. If they find out they made a mistake in type, the can't go back." John Edmiston just tickled Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage grins. John Edmiston says, "Im done" Trevor Rage says, "Thanks, John." John Edmiston says, "sure" Trevor Rage smiles. Having finished addressing the assembly Joy Nalewi sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly John Edmiston sits back down. Allan Bullest stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage asks, "Allan?" Trevor Rage smiles. Allan Bullest coughs. Allan Bullest nods. Allan Bullest says, "Alright I have a comment and some questions, I think.." Trevor Rage nods. Allan Bullest says, "First of all, let me say, I am very uninformed about these methods, and the topic.. So pardon me if my questions are a tad on the slow side.." Trevor Rage says, "Shoot." Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "I am going into this forum expecting no one to know anything. It's fine." Trevor Rage says, "I'm looking at it that way make sure you ARE informed after tonight." Allan Bullest asks, "From what I understand, this partial method would transfer the same skill points at the moment, to the "new list"..But you said printing and engraving aren't on the list, so what will be on the new list?" Trevor Rage says, "The points you have in printing and engraving will go somewhere else. Some other skill." Allan Bullest asks, "Right, but why won't P&E be on the new list?" Trevor Rage says, "We felt it wasn't a necessary or usable skill." Allan Bullest asks, "And what else won't be on the new list?" Trevor Rage says, "A bunch of things, I don't have a 'cut list' in front of me.. it's on my web page though." Trevor Rage says, "And I published it on the message boards." Allan Bullest asks, "ok.. So who decides where to allocate points from cut skills, you or me?" Allan Bullest says, "I'll check out yer site." Trevor Rage says, "At this point, I'd say probably us the staff will decide on a per skill basis." Trevor Rage says, "Closest match possible." Allan Bullest raises an eyebrow at Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage says, "Again, if we go with partial reallocation." Trevor Rage says, "And again, only in the case of skills that are being phased out." Allan Bullest says, "Well that was my last question, but let me say strongly.. That I would be opposed to that.. Let US decide where to put those..It would then be an excellent compromise between full and partial." Trevor Rage says, "That may be possible. That hasn't been totally decided yet." Allan Bullest says, "Well, please let us know, because that's the only way Id vote for partial." Trevor Rage says, "I want everyone to focus on the bottom line though. Partial is automatic. Full is manual." Allan Bullest nods to Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage says, "Thanks, Allan." Allan Bullest says, "Got it.. Thanks Trevor, Im done." Trevor Rage smiles. Allan Bullest smiles. Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage grins. Having finished addressing the assembly Allan Bullest sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly John Edmiston sits back down. Armand Chascour stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage asks, "Armand?" Trevor Rage smiles. Armand Chascour says, "I have a suggestion along Allan's lines" Trevor Rage nods to Armand Chascour. Armand Chascour says, "you could take my physical stats and give me a newbie rating" Armand Chascour says, "like as if I just rerolled" Armand Chascour says, "then, figure I am level 20...and assign me a certain number of training points per level" Armand Chascour says, "and then, just have me train 20 times " Armand Chascour says, "that way I'd allocate my points as if my whole career had been under the new list" Trevor Rage says, "You'll be reallocating stats, Armand. When the new Cmgr is available.. which will be before skills are reallocated." Armand Chascour blinks. Armand Chascour asks, "ok I'm sorry, I was about five mins late..what is the cmgr?" Trevor Rage chuckles. Trevor Rage says, "Sorry.. Character Manager." Armand Chascour says, "aha" Trevor Rage snickers. Armand Chascour asks, "so I could be young again?" Trevor Rage says, "If you so choose." Armand Chascour cackles gleefully. Trevor Rage grins. Armand Chascour says, "ok that's interesting" Armand Chascour says, "thanks anyhow" Trevor Rage nods. Armand Chascour sits down. Armand Chascour says, "I'm done" Trevor Rage says, "It's a once in a lifetime chance." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage nods. Having finished addressing the assembly John Edmiston sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Armand Chascour sits back down. Jon Garfield stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Hello, Jon." Trevor Rage smiles. Jon Garfield says, "Hi" Jon Garfield asks, "Lisa and I were talking about this, and there was something she thought of, and it made me curious too. You covered the teaching points, but what about the karaoke points? We got four points per contest, but many people never went to any of them, and some more than the others who did go. Are there any records of who participated in each contest and would get the points?" Trevor Rage says, "Hmm. Good point. I'll throw in some amount of points for that also, if we go full. A small amount of course, I doubt anyone here has gotten 100 points from karaoke." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "Probably 20 at most." Jon Garfield says, "Unlike teaching, karaoke takes planning and some actual work, so I don't think it would be fair to give everyone a lump sum" Trevor Rage says, "I have no way of tracking it, Jon." Trevor Rage says, "There are no records of who got what points when. I wish there was." Jon Garfield says, "20 is just 5 karaokes, I'm sure quite a few have done more than that" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "Ok, 20 was a guess. I'll get with the staff on it. Regardless, yes I'll divy out points for it as fairly as possible." Jon Garfield says, "One other thing" Trevor Rage nods. Jon Garfield asks, "Before voting on partial or full, could we see a list of what old skills' points will go into which new ones, to see if we like how it would be done if it was auto?" Trevor Rage says, "That's a fair request." Trevor Rage nods. Jon Garfield says, "And though it pains me to admit it..." Jon Garfield grins. Trevor Rage says, "This will delay the survey a little. Siri is out of town for short bit." Jon Garfield says, "Allan's right about being able to place our own remainder of points if we go with the partial one" Jon Garfield says, "Or maybe voting on the list" Jon Garfield gets a distant look on his face as he ponders. Jon Garfield says, "Like I wouldn't necessarily want my unarmed points going to kicking or something" Jon Garfield says, "But someone else might" Trevor Rage says, "There are really a lot of possibilities. I'd actually like some way to either put it to vote, or more likely, just let you all choose where to point the excess points individually. We'll see." Jon Garfield nods. Trevor Rage says, "If decided by the system alone, unarmed would be divied in all unarmed categories. Not good for someone who wants to specialize. I agree." Trevor Rage nods. Jon Garfield says, "I personally think partial is the more fair way to go, since it keeps your profession, stats, teaching, karaoke, etc. in the count" Jon Garfield nods. Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage asks, "Anything else, Jon?" Trevor Rage smiles. Jon Garfield says, "Ok, I think I'm done" Jon Garfield says, "For now" Jon Garfield grins. Trevor Rage grins. Having finished addressing the assembly Jon Garfield sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Armand Chascour sits back down. Linda Gabriel stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage asks, "Linda?" Trevor Rage smiles. Linda Gabriel says, "um, well I was wondering if there woulkd be new skills" Linda Gabriel asks, "like 2 handed combat?" Trevor Rage says, "Yep. I'm gonna cheat real quick." Linda Gabriel smiles. Trevor Rage says, "I'm about to throw on the skill switch for a brief second. Everyone who wants to, type SKILLS when I say "when". I won't leave it on long." Trevor Rage says, "And the switch is back on the old setting now." Linda Gabriel says, "is there going to be another change in the way we do things too" Trevor Rage says, "You'll see some new ones in there, like Kicking, Prowling, etc." Linda Gabriel asks, "like how a skill is used?" Trevor Rage asks, "Definitely. We need ways to use and raise these skills, yes?" Linda Gabriel says, "cause I would like to know which ones go with other ones. so we can raise ones together when we train" Trevor Rage says, "Well, my advice is to train in what you want to be able to do." Trevor Rage says, "If you like the idea of Scuba Diving, put points in it. Even if you can't Scuba yet." Linda Gabriel asks, "but I understand that some things need more than one skill to be of complete use. Am I wrong in that?" Trevor Rage says, "Some things, but it's common sense usually. It won't require fishing skill to swim well." Linda Gabriel asks, "like slight of hand is for lockpicking?" Linda Gabriel asks, "is that correct?" Trevor Rage says, "I think what you need is a list of what each skill 'means'. Slight of Hand is the ability to use one's manual dexterity to palm/conceal objects, it will also be used for pilfering/stealing." Trevor Rage says, "Locksmithing is in the new list. It's not being cut." Linda Gabriel exclaims, "that list would be great!" Trevor Rage says, "I'll work on a clear list of what each skill 'means' as soon as I can." Trevor Rage grins. Linda Gabriel says, "thanks, thats all I have for now" Linda Gabriel smiles. Trevor Rage nods. Having finished addressing the assembly Linda Gabriel sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Armand Chascour sits back down. Elise Evans stands up to address the assembly. Elise Evans says, "Hiya Rage" Trevor Rage says, "Lo." Trevor Rage smiles. Elise Evans says, "and everyone else I guess" Elise Evans grins. Armand Chascour says, "ah, everytime I raise my hand I have the floor" Trevor Rage grins. Armand Chascour asks, "can we correct that?" Armand Chascour blushes a nice shade of off-pink. Trevor Rage pokes Armand Chascour in the ribs. Having finished addressing the assembly Armand Chascour sits back down. Trevor Rage smiles. Elise Evans says, "Given we were just on the skill list I'll start there ...." Elise Evans says, "Was the list we just saw a combination of the new and old? It looked pretty long." Trevor Rage says, "It's the new list and it is still long. Not as long." Elise Evans nods. Elise Evans asks, "What did an asterisk mean?" Trevor Rage says, "We went from 85 skills to 64." Trevor Rage says, "Soft skill." Elise Evans nods. Elise Evans says, "um .. These aren't how they'll reallocate are they? I've next to no first aid, but I'm a great automobile mechanic it seems." Elise Evans grins. Trevor Rage says, "No, not at all." Elise Evans breathes a sigh of relief. Elise Evans says, "ok .. other things ..." Elise Evans says, "Can the formula for full reallocation be done on an individual basis ..." Trevor Rage asks, "How do you mean?" Elise Evans mutters something about people whispering.... Elise Evans giggles. Trevor Rage grins. Elise Evans says, "I'm thinking X skill @ Y points cost per skill to reallocate" Elise Evans says, "That way, if you've had a lesson, or done karaoke, those points would be counted in" Elise Evans says, "Rather than a blanket 132 training points per level gained so far." Elise Evans says, "Divided by 2 or whatever it was" Trevor Rage says, "Well, that would in a way hurt you, the player. If your Academian took 8 points per point of birdwatching skill, and now on the new system he doesn't.. you'd have lost points." Elise Evans furrows her brow. Trevor Rage says, "Basically, we have people level 50 with many more skill points than someone else 50.. purely based on profession." Elise Evans says, "No, I was meaning can't he get back the points at 8:1 for that skill, then reallocate as he chooses" Trevor Rage asks, "So if we're killing the rigid profession rules, would you want to keep that stigma?" Elise Evans shakes her head. Elise Evans says, "Let me start that again." Trevor Rage asks, "Ah, like a reverse count?" Trevor Rage says, "I see." Elise Evans asks, "Can I get 4 training points for each point I spent on unarmed, and 1 point for each on first aid, and then reallocate?" Elise Evans says, "and an agent can go the other way" Trevor Rage says, "It's possible." Trevor Rage says, "I tell you what, I'll give you a definite formula for full before the survey also." Elise Evans says, "That doesn't help Armand being younger from the beginning though." Elise Evans grins. Elise Evans exclaims, "great!" Elise Evans says, "Last one ..." Trevor Rage nods. Elise Evans asks, "... Will we still train in different things at different rates depending on profession and how skilled we are?" Elise Evans says, "And will that decrease as we become more skilled" Trevor Rage says, "Regardless of how I do the formula, the current plan is to not have skill points effected by age as it has been in the past. I hate how that works." Trevor Rage babbles incoherently. Elise Evans grins at Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage says, "Your profession will be changable at a moment's notice with no effort. A command to do it. Therefore, profession will provide no bonus or penalty to anything." Trevor Rage says, "It's a cosmetic title you qualified for based on your skills." Elise Evans says, "I hate to think of that effect on RP, but ok." Trevor Rage says, "You shouldn't be trying to RP the fact you get a PI bonus for so and so. You should be RPing a good PI." Trevor Rage grins. Elise Evans chuckles. Trevor Rage says, "And yes, skills will raise more slowly as they get high." Trevor Rage says, "At near 500, you'll go very slowly." Elise Evans asks, "They will raise more slowly? So they get harder to increase the better you are at it?" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "Yep." Elise Evans nods. Elise Evans exclaims, "Great, thanks!" Trevor Rage says, "You bet." Trevor Rage smiles. Having finished addressing the assembly Elise Evans sits back down. Honey Templeton stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Lo." Trevor Rage smiles. Honey Templeton says, "Hullo" Honey Templeton says, "Ok, Linda brought up the Purpose of Skills list and I'd love to see that on your site" Honey Templeton says, "I also hope the skills stay alphabetized, like that sample we saw" Trevor Rage says, "You bet, and yes it will." Honey Templeton says, "My questions are these..." Trevor Rage says, "I'm purposely making the system so that it (a) is alphabetized (b) new skills can be added later if we want and (c) skills can go from soft to hard skills later if we want." Trevor Rage nods. Honey Templeton says, "If I took my unarmed combat skills and evenly distribute them between boxing, kicking and grappling.." Honey Templeton asks, "does my command to fight change from attack?" Honey Templeton asks, "Or will I randomly kick, box and wrestle?" Honey Templeton scratches her head, looking a bit confused. Trevor Rage says, "Yep. This is more of a combat question, but you will have many combat commands available to you, from styles of unarmed, to armed styles per weapon, to acrobatic attacks." Trevor Rage says, "You will choose how to fight based on your mood or your situation." Honey Templeton says, "oh, okay...next question...." Trevor Rage says, "Defense commands will work in a similar way." Honey Templeton nods. Honey Templeton asks, "If we all have a 6 second roundtime, can we get an agility skill or something, a soft skill, to lower that to one second?" Honey Templeton asks, "Or does tht go down as training and levels are raised?" Trevor Rage says, "Roundtimes WILL be changing." Honey Templeton lets out a hearty cheer for Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage says, "Roundtimes will be based on the attack type, your skills/stats and weapon type." Honey Templeton says, "cool" Trevor Rage says, "Some weapons will hit for a ton, but be slow as molasses and vice versa." Honey Templeton says, "I guess that answers my questions and I'll wait for the survey, thanks." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage grins. Honey Templeton sits down. Having finished addressing the assembly Honey Templeton sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Elise Evans sits back down. Jess Whiterose stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Hello, Jess." Trevor Rage smiles. Jess Whiterose says, "you be nice to Leona, a dagger is not slow as molasses" Jess Whiterose chuckles. Trevor Rage says, "As a dagger, she shouldn't be." Trevor Rage smiles. Jess Whiterose says, "Okay Trev, I have a question about the Stats" Trevor Rage says, "Nor will she cut down a tree." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage nods. Jess Whiterose nods to Trevor Rage. Jess Whiterose asks, "Is it going to be similar in the CM or change, how we do it?" Jess Whiterose asks, "Or rather will we still be able to control it by body types?" Trevor Rage says, "Stats, that is strength, dexterity etc.. will be done in the Character Manager." Jess Whiterose asks, "Do we get to pick those in a manner like we do now, or are they going random like in some other lands?" Jess Whiterose says, "I prefer our method, myself, by choosing body types" Trevor Rage says, "They'll be based on the type of character you pick, in terms of physical build etc. They will rise as you use them (except perception) and will lower in time so must be used to keep up (except perception)" Jess Whiterose says, "Okay but initially, we still control the beginning stats, if I understand right" Trevor Rage says, "Jon asked about luck. Luck will be random." Jess Whiterose nods to Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage says, "Yep." Trevor Rage says, "You don't say "I want 75 points in Agility".. but you can pick a body type that would be agile." Jess Whiterose says, "Alright, I agree with Jon and Bullest about if we go partial, I think any leftovers from discontinued skills should be my character's choice in retraining" Jess Whiterose nods to Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage nods. Jess Whiterose says, "Yeah that's how we do it now, based on body type" Trevor Rage says, "I actually agree on that." Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "Yep." Jess Whiterose says, "as for full reallocate" Jess Whiterose says, "I agree with Elise in what she was trying to convey, convert back based on profession costs" Trevor Rage says, "And again, perception is a weird stat. It never changes under normal means. And I'm not sure how it's decided initially. It may be random mostly. Siri would know on that." Jess Whiterose says, "Like every point of singing I have and it's a lot cost 16 points for 4" Jess Whiterose says, "that was my choice, but it should be reconverted back by profession" Trevor Rage says, "I was looking at doing it way originally.. it seems like I ran into a snag, but I can't think of what it was. I'll assume for now that I was insane and that this is a good way to consider." Trevor Rage says, "Ceit reminded me." Ceit Galbraith winks. Trevor Rage asks, "What about Armand, for example?" Jess Whiterose says, "Well I do know that in my profession, I spent very few 1 to 1's" Trevor Rage says, "If you're an older fella you got a LOT of freebie points." Trevor Rage asks, "If he chooses to be young again but keeps his points...?" Jess Whiterose says, "well I think he should get his intial age stats back if he keeps the same age that is" Trevor Rage says, "Or even if he doesn't if skill costs will no longer be based on age.." Jess Whiterose says, "he suffered for those age points, but if he changes to a kid, then they should be cut accordingly, just the age points" Trevor Rage says, "Well let me dish this to you.." Jess Whiterose says, "the beginning with no training points in skills, however I see it is a bunch of work" Trevor Rage says, "Say someone rolls up a level 1 120 year old guy right before realloc." Jess Whiterose nods. Trevor Rage says, "He has tons of skills to start. He then reallocates and keeps them." Jess Whiterose says, "He still just level one" Trevor Rage says, "And now after realloc, he has no skill cost penalties based on age. He gets all the points with no penalties." Trevor Rage says, "We're talking hundreds or more of points difference, just at level 1." Trevor Rage says, "And with no penalty." Jess Whiterose says, "that would be grounds for cheating, I don't see it happening with high level characters, I am not gonna reroll" Trevor Rage says, "I don't think it can be balanced. Regardless, I WILL slave over the numbers and figure out the best way." Jess Whiterose says, "But I get the point" Trevor Rage says, "I'm a pretty decent number cruncher. I'll do as much as I can. I want this to be perceived as a positive change, and for that, I gotta do it right." Trevor Rage smiles. Jess Whiterose says, "okay just a final comment, the skill usage thing would be most appreciated" Jess Whiterose says, "and a list of where the leftovers go if it is fully auto before the vote" Trevor Rage says, "I think I've proved I'm not afraid to code. If it takes novels, that's fine. It just has to be balanced." Trevor Rage nods. Jess Whiterose says, "I admire your work sir, don't doubt that" Jess Whiterose says, "thank you" Trevor Rage says, "Thanks. I'm tryin." Trevor Rage chuckles. Having finished addressing the assembly Elise Evans sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Jess Whiterose sits back down. Amanda Jackson stands up to address the assembly. Amanda Jackson smiles. Trevor Rage says, "Heya Amanda." Trevor Rage smiles. Amanda Jackson says, "Hi, I'm not sure if you said this or not, its a really simple question" Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "Ok." Amanda Jackson asks, "Ok, I heard this goes into effect around October? Is that still the same?" Trevor Rage chuckles. Trevor Rage says, "I'd like to hope so. The short answer is, I don't know. If possible, yes. Heck, if I could, I'd flip it over right now. But it's a lot of work. Not so much for the stuff we have.. but because we need to add a lot of NEW stuff." Trevor Rage says, "There aren't near enough ways to use your skills right now. Some of them have no use at all. You guys know this. We gotta change that." Amanda Jackson asks, "Ok, will we be able to do like samples of the new system to get used to it?" Trevor Rage says, "I have a lot of collateral things to work on too, like more places to hunt etc." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "Well, not in terms of gaining skill by use or using new skills." Amanda Jackson says, "Ok, thats all.." Ceit Galbraith says, "I did a real real quick comparison between a randomly selected 35 year old detective at level 35 and a randomly selected 120 year old academian at level 20...the 120 year old academian has almost 4,000 more (almost 3 times more) ranks of skill to-date than the 35 year old detective." Amanda Jackson says, "Thanks, and thanks for all your hard work you're doing" Trevor Rage says, "But, for example, I want a shooting range to work on marksmanship skills. You won't gain skill from using it before the new system is 'live',.. but you can do it for fun or to show off." Amanda Jackson giggles. Amanda Jackson exclaims, "Thats a good idea!" Amanda Jackson asks, "Will there be a repair skill?" Trevor Rage says, "There is a BIG difference based on age, yes. BIG." Trevor Rage says, "Yep." Trevor Rage says, "And um.. weapon/armor breakage." Trevor Rage ducks his head. Trevor Rage says, "So repair will be needed. hint hint." A look of pain crosses Amanda Jackson's face. Amanda Jackson asks, "Weapon's breaking?" Amanda Jackson coughs. Trevor Rage says, "Yep." Amanda Jackson says, "Hehe, it would be nice if we could search OWF perps too, but thats all the questions" Trevor Rage says, "Maybe. We'll see. All these perps will have to be redone." Trevor Rage babbles incoherently. Trevor Rage grins. Amanda Jackson giggles. Amanda Jackson exclaims, "Oooh, one more!" Trevor Rage nods. Amanda Jackson asks, "Will we have a time period were we can't play because you are redoing stuff like perps, etc. Like when the whole game is down?" Ceit Galbraith grins. Trevor Rage says, "I hope not. If it is, it will be a period of minutes or short hours. But I plan to make this all doable without any downtime." Trevor Rage says, "And the current combat system will stay intact until the last dying moment of the 'old age' of skills." Amanda Jackson says, "Ok, thanks" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "Thanks" Having finished addressing the assembly Amanda Jackson sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Jess Whiterose sits back down. Kylee Malone stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "`Lo, Kylee." Trevor Rage smiles. Kylee Malone says, "My question is this.... if we go full allocation and I am at level 24 but have taken many classes, so my skills are higher than the average level 24 will I get to keep all of my skills points, or will I be given the basic level 24 skill points ? Everyone needs to start out even steven and get their training points back per level. Example, I am level 24. I get the base points, plus 120 per level." Kylee Malone blushes a nice shade of off-pink. Kylee Malone says, "or whatever it is per level" Trevor Rage says, "It depends on the formula we use. But, if it's based PURELY on level as you're saying, I will give everyone a lump sum of points based on lessons. I was planning on around 50. I don't think anyone has gained more than 50 points from teaching, individually." Trevor Rage says, "And for most, 50 skill points is a freebie." Kylee Malone coughs. Trevor Rage says, "For reference.. " Trevor Rage says, "4911 points of skill have been given out since I released the teaching system." Trevor Rage says, "I don't know who to, but if we say we only have had 100 MO players in that time, that's 49 points per each one of em." Trevor Rage says, "And we currently have many more than 100 players total, even though only 40-50 may log on at a time on a peak night." Trevor Rage says, "Frankly though, I did not plan on needing these figures so I didn't track who got how many points from teaching individually. Hindsight is always 20/20." Trevor Rage grins. Kylee Malone says, "but is it fair to me if you realocate them to others? who might not have had the classes that I have had ? even though it's not hurting me inividually" Trevor Rage says, "I have no other way of doing it, Kylee." Kylee Malone asks, "so you can't do points for points ?" Kylee Malone asks, "how many total training points are we talking about ?" Kylee Malone says, "per level" Trevor Rage says, "And hey, TEACH was my first major system. I couldn't code my way out of a paper bag back then, I think I managed fairly well in the case. I just didn't think such specific stats needed tracking." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage says, "50 points to each player as a one time bonus. 50 points extra you get to spend on skills." Kylee Malone smiles at Trevor Rage. Kylee Malone asks, "So the classes I have taken are for nothing basically ? since everyone will get the points too ?" Kylee Malone asks, "when we go to train right now, how many points do we get ?" Trevor Rage says, "Again, this is for full reallocation. If we go partial, you'll get all your points as-is. No more, no less." Trevor Rage says, "If you took more than 50, yes. Kylee, this is unavoidable." Trevor Rage says, "I physically don't have stats available to do otherwise." Trevor Rage says, "Again, this is ONLY if we base it all on levels. As promised, I'll work on a fair formula." Kylee Malone says, "If you do Elise's method, could you also calculate the total training points they'd have gotten from all their levels, then the difference is the points they've gotten from extra stuff like teaching and karaoke"" Trevor Rage says, "Yes. Again, this whole conversation between you and I has been only based on if we DON'T use a system like Elise suggested." Kylee Malone nods to Trevor Rage. Kylee Malone says, "that was just in reference to if we do" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "If we do use that type of system, you'll get your points as is." Kylee Malone says, "ok thank you Trevor" Kylee Malone sits down. Trevor Rage says, "You're welcome." Trevor Rage smiles. Kylee Malone smiles. Having finished addressing the assembly Kylee Malone sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Jess Whiterose sits back down. Ferd Berfel stands up to address the assembly. Having finished addressing the assembly Jess Whiterose sits back down. Trevor Rage says, "Hey Ferd." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage asks, "Ferd?" Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage chuckles. Trevor Rage says, "Ok, we'll move on." Having finished addressing the assembly Ferd Berfel sits back down. Joy Nalewi stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Hello again." Trevor Rage grins. Joy Nalewi says, "Ahhh, finally" Joy Nalewi grins. Joy Nalewi says, "While everyone was talking, I was browsing your site..." Joy Nalewi says, "I didn't see the list you mentioned..." Joy Nalewi furrows her brow. Joy Nalewi asks, "Was that the same as the list you showed us?" Trevor Rage says, "Basically yes. In table format. It's a list of what the skills willbe." Trevor Rage says, "I said I'd work on a definition for each skill also." Trevor Rage grins. Joy Nalewi asks, "Which section was it in?" Joy Nalewi nods to Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage says, "http://www.role-players.com/skill_list.htm" Trevor Rage grins. Joy Nalewi says, "Ahhh, even better" Joy Nalewi grins. Trevor Rage says, "Essays\Skill Changes\Skill List" Trevor Rage grins. Joy Nalewi nods. Joy Nalewi says, "One more question" Joy Nalewi grins. Trevor Rage nods. Joy Nalewi asks, "How will the changes to weapons skills and rt affect existing weapons?" Trevor Rage says, "The weapons system right now is very, very basic. It's way to simple. I'm working on a new weapons system where every weapon will have unique properties." Joy Nalewi says, "Some of the merchant created ones are pretty out there, and I don't see them fitting with laws of physics" Joy Nalewi grins. Joy Nalewi nods. Trevor Rage says, "This will mean I will need to 'convert' existing weapons. This will NOT be easy." Trevor Rage chuckles. Joy Nalewi asks, "So, they won't have the same power?" Joy Nalewi comforts Trevor Rage. Joy Nalewi grins. Trevor Rage says, "But, things like your plus to hit and defend will stay the same." Joy Nalewi nods. Joy Nalewi says, "Ack, I just thought of one more thing, sorry" Joy Nalewi blushes a nice shade of off-pink. Trevor Rage says, "Well, they will be just as easy to hit with. But a dagger may do less damage (and be faster) while a shotgun will no longer hit like a 45." Joy Nalewi nods. Joy Nalewi says, "Ahh, okay" Trevor Rage says, "Right now all guns shoot the same. All blades cut the same. Who likes that? I don't." Trevor Rage smiles. Joy Nalewi says, "People with cheap guns" Joy Nalewi grins. Trevor Rage chuckles. Joy Nalewi asks, "How easy will it be to switch professions...?" Trevor Rage says, "Well they'll have to live with balance. It's only fair. People who pay for primo guns should get primo guns, etc." Joy Nalewi says, "I can definitely see problems with RP, like Elise said." Joy Nalewi nods to Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage says, "You'll use a command similar to TITLE." Joy Nalewi says, "I feel a lot of mid-life crises coming on" Joy Nalewi grins. Trevor Rage says, "It's up to you to do so responsibly. We won't give you a warning for changing professions on the dime every 2 minutes, but it may effect your enjoyment of the game." Joy Nalewi asks, "Wouldn't that take away from some of the personality traits we've built?" Joy Nalewi nods. Joy Nalewi says, "It just seems a little unrealistic" Trevor Rage says, "It's going to alter some identities, yes. But, it should stop RP. I think we are able to RP well if we want to, regardless of cosmetics." Joy Nalewi asks, "Is that shouldn't?" Joy Nalewi ducks her head. Trevor Rage says, "Perhaps. But too much realism is boring." Trevor Rage says, "er shouldn't yes." Trevor Rage laughs! Joy Nalewi grins. Ceit Galbraith asks, "Who's to say I can't be a financial analyst, as well as a programmer, and also a certified diver, and still be a biology student?" Joy Nalewi asks, "We could have more than one at the same time?" Joy Nalewi furrows her brow. Trevor Rage says, "But if everyone starts saying they're masters of everything under the sun, I'm gonna start handing out "Lame" tags." Joy Nalewi says, "I could see doing many things at once, sure... but there's hobbies, and professions" Joy Nalewi grins. Ceit Galbraith says, "But if I've got the skills to do all of those things, I may wear different hats. Certainly you don't see me talking about my day job here on the island." Joy Nalewi nods. Joy Nalewi asks, "So, it'll just show which skills we choose to showcase?" Trevor Rage says, "Yep." Joy Nalewi says, "Okay, and for Elise..." Joy Nalewi ducks her head. Joy Nalewi grins. Joy Nalewi asks, "Do we have to have a profession visible?" Trevor Rage says, "If you want." Trevor Rage says, "But one at a time. Not a walking list of certifications." Trevor Rage grins. Joy Nalewi nods. Joy Nalewi asks, "But we could show none, like I chose no title?" Joy Nalewi grins. Trevor Rage says, "Yep" Trevor Rage says, "You can do that now, too." Joy Nalewi says, "Ooookay, I'm finally done" Trevor Rage says, "SET !PROF" Joy Nalewi nods. Trevor Rage grins. Joy Nalewi says, "Thanks." Trevor Rage nods. Having finished addressing the assembly Joy Nalewi sits back down. Miranda Hunter stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Hello, Miranda." Trevor Rage smiles. Miranda Hunter says, "Hello" Miranda Hunter says, "You said that sleight of hand would be useful in stealing" Miranda Hunter asks, "are we going to be getting stealing?" Miranda Hunter says, "or the ability to do so" Trevor Rage says, "Yes, but not from other players." Miranda Hunter says, "good" Mike Tucker went through an archway. Miranda Hunter smiles at Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage says, "NPC's, shops etc. No other players." Trevor Rage smiles. Mike Tucker came through an archway. Miranda Hunter hums a tune softly to herself. Miranda Hunter sits down. Miranda Hunter says, "thank you" Trevor Rage grins. Having finished addressing the assembly Miranda Hunter sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Joy Nalewi sits back down. Melina Humbert stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage says, "Hello, Melina." Melina Humbert says, "Hello" Melina Humbert smiles. Melina Humbert says, "Forgive me if this has been answered" Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "It's allowed." Trevor Rage grins. Melina Humbert asks, "Will the skills that take 16 to raise be considered?" Melina Humbert says, "Personally, I don't like singing horribly" Melina Humbert grins. Trevor Rage says, "The short answer is yes. Since we will not retain a 16 point per system, I won't penalize those who had to live with it before." Melina Humbert nods. Melina Humbert says, "Great, thanks" Melina Humbert smiles. Trevor Rage says, "I don't know the particulars on how that will be done. That's been the bulk of the debate tonight. But it will be taken in consideration in planning." Trevor Rage says, "You bet." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage asks, "Anything else?" Melina Humbert says, "No, sir, that's it" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage grins. Melina Humbert grins. Trevor Rage says, "Sir.. making me feel old." Trevor Rage chuckles. Having finished addressing the assembly Joy Nalewi sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Melina Humbert sits back down. Jon Garfield stands up to address the assembly. Jon Garfield snores. Jon Garfield grins. Jon Garfield says, "Been a while" Trevor Rage chuckles. Jon Garfield asks, "About the weapons breaking... is that just for standard weapons too, or custom ones as well? And in either case, will repairing them give back their full original abilities? And if you aren't skilled in repair enough and only partially repair it, can you then go to someone else to fully repair it?" Having finished addressing the assembly Melina Humbert sits back down. Trevor Rage says, "1. All weapons, 2. Yes, 3. Yes." Jon Garfield asks, "So if you partially repair it, it will still be partially usable?" Trevor Rage says, "It will be usable if repaired even partially, yes. It will break again sooner if not fully repaired also." Jon Garfield says, "And will there be a shop, since probably few if any people will be skilled enough for a while, as most will focus on other areas" Trevor Rage says, "I think a shop is very likely." Jon Garfield says, "I'd imagine it would cost a lot though" Jon Garfield gets an impish expression on his face and lets out a hearty cheer. Trevor Rage says, "Perhaps not. It will depend on the weapon too." Trevor Rage says, "It will have to be high enough to give those who train in repair a reason to do so." Jon Garfield asks, "And for your list of skill definitions, will that include the skills that are being cut as well, so we can see how they relate to the new ones? And maybe include how the ones that are kept will change, meaning both how they are now and how they will be?" Jon Garfield nods to Trevor Rage. Jon Garfield says, "Well, the repairer would learn some from it, I'm sure" Trevor Rage says, "I can do that, yes." Trevor Rage says, "I'll be sure to include kits for mysteries too. I'll have to hash that out with Raine." Jon Garfield asks, "And would there be some way to guarantee the repairer would return it? Or would you just have to find someone you trust?" Trevor Rage says, "Us GMly types were just discussion that in the backstage." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "Yes." Jon Garfield grins. Jon Garfield gets a distant look on his face as he ponders. Jon Garfield asks, "Yes to which part?" Jon Garfield chuckles. Trevor Rage says, "Er.." Trevor Rage chuckles. Trevor Rage says, "Yes, there will be safeguards of some sort." Jon Garfield nods. Jon Garfield asks, "And as for uses of the skill, like for learning from using it, will we be able to repair the broken stuff from boxes too, and broken lockpicks?" Trevor Rage asks, "Anything else?" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "heh." Trevor Rage says, "I've had two AGM's ask to work on that (repairing stuff from boxes)." Trevor Rage says, "Yes, I want to do that also." Jon Garfield grins. Jon Garfield says, "One last thing" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage smiles. Jon Garfield asks, "Will there be another forum when it's further along, or just the surveys and stuff on your site?" Jon Garfield says, "Like let us see the info, then have a forum for further questions" Trevor Rage says, "There will be info published in game, on the boards and on my site. After that, it'll be a survey for reallocation. " Trevor Rage says, "A general combat forum is coming next month." Jon Garfield says, "Ah, ok" Jon Garfield says, "Thanks" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "You bet." Having finished addressing the assembly Jon Garfield sits back down. Elise Evans stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Welcome back." Trevor Rage smiles. Elise Evans exclaims, "ooh me again!" Elise Evans beams happily. Trevor Rage grins. Elise Evans says, "I thought I was way down the list yet." Elise Evans grins. Trevor Rage grins. Elise Evans says, "On professional titles being visible, I'd really like them to be permanently INvisible." Trevor Rage asks, "You don't want your profession to show when someone looks at you?" Elise Evans says, "I think I wasn't the only island guide foreseeing difficulties with people being one thing one day, and something else the next." Elise Evans says, "Nope." Elise Evans says, "I pretty much never use my coroner title now, and I rarely stick up Doctor." Elise Evans asks, "How can you know by looking at me what I do?" Elise Evans says, "I'd really like everyone to NOT be able to show their profession. If they've earnt a title, great, because I think they're very cool" Trevor Rage asks, "What would a profession do for you then?" Elise Evans asks, "Presumably what it does now ... wasn't it so you could teach different things and whatever?" Trevor Rage says, "You wouldn't know their title by looking at them either." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage says, "Being totally IC." Elise Evans says, "Yeah, but some perks are nice." Elise Evans grins. Trevor Rage says, "Their reputation may precede them, but that could be the case in a profession too. (Hey, look out for Joe Schmoe, he's a great plumber!)" Elise Evans nods. Trevor Rage says, "Well you're asking me to put a wall on gameplay for IC, but keep another wall down against IC." Trevor Rage grins. Elise Evans says, "ok .. fair enough" Elise Evans grins. Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage asks, "Anything else?" Elise Evans asks, "We will still choose a profession in the character manager?" Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage says, "Nope." Elise Evans says, "Will we, that should have sounded like" Trevor Rage grins. Elise Evans nods. Elise Evans says, "um ..." Trevor Rage says, "No you'll choose one when you're ready for the one you want." Elise Evans says, "Lots of this related to combat and weapons ... will some of the new things available as hard skills also have varied ways of training etc." Elise Evans says, "For example, we can repair weapons and box items ... will my fishing pole break, and will I need to repair it" Trevor Rage says, "Yep. That's the biggest reason this skill conversion will take so long." Trevor Rage says, "Well, I won't make your fishing poles break personally. I won't be changing your house except the skill requirements, which I already did.." Trevor Rage says, "But I won't change the overall mechanics." Elise Evans grumbles about something. Elise Evans says, "I noticed." Elise Evans sighs. Trevor Rage says, "Well you'll also gain skill from fishing at home soon. Don't complain." Trevor Rage smiles. Elise Evans beams happily. Elise Evans exclaims, "I'm starving out there ... those crackers are tiny!" Trevor Rage grins. Elise Evans says, "um ... back on professions again ..." Trevor Rage nods. Elise Evans asks, "Would it make more sense to only be able to change your profession if you've just trained in something, or completed a lesson?" Elise Evans says, "That was further from Jon by the way." Elise Evans grins. Trevor Rage says, "Perhaps. To be honest, I have coded nothing on professions. I've only done limited planning on it overall." Trevor Rage says, "I've done more work on skills themselves and combat than anything, so far." Elise Evans nods. Elise Evans exclaims, "Ok, that's it!" Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "Thanks." Trevor Rage smiles. Having finished addressing the assembly Jon Garfield sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Elise Evans sits back down. Bryan Hit stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Hey, Bryan." Trevor Rage smiles. Bryan Hit grins. Bryan Hit says, "I have a couple concerns about the Repairs thing" Trevor Rage nods. Bryan Hit says, "You mentioned it would be for all weapons, basic and custom. It sounds to me like those who bought merchant weapons will in effect have to pay more to repair them" Bryan Hit says, "I hope that's wrong" Trevor Rage says, "That's basically right." Trevor Rage says, "Nothing is permanent in life." Bryan Hit asks, "The custom ones...will they be breaking really easy?" Trevor Rage says, "Unless you put it in a case and only take it out to blow the dust off once in a while." Trevor Rage says, "Depends on the weapon. If you want a fancy dagger that's light as glass, it might break as easily." Trevor Rage says, "If you want an extra sturdy sword of annihiliation, it will last longer." Bryan Hit says, "Okay, then what I need to know is roughly what to expect. I have a dagger that's custom. What I am worried about is that I'm going to end up shelling out roughly the same amount to repair it real frequently as it cost to buy it in the first place" Bryan Hit says, "I have no problem with the repair thing, since that will be a cool skill to have and build, but initially, since my repair skill is so low, it's going to be a real pain in the butt" Bryan Hit says, "And I hunt a lot" Trevor Rage says, "I can't tell you off the hand, Bryan. That would take some research into the weapon, and the weapon would not be changed regardless. But, I don't see anyone paying a fortune for repairs." Bryan Hit asks, "Okay. Probably more like a small fraction of the cost or something?" Trevor Rage says, "You WILL have to spend money. You will NOT spend your life savings on weapon maintenance." Bryan Hit says, "like it is to register it and such" Trevor Rage says, "Right." Trevor Rage says, "Well.." Trevor Rage says, "Not a percentage of the value of item, just reasonable flat amount based on weapon type." Bryan Hit asks, "So flat rates for the grade of the blade or caliber of the gun, etc?" Trevor Rage says, "That's how I see it working currently anyway. It's not like I've worked on that system just yet." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "Probably." Bryan Hit says, "Okay. That's more reassuring" Bryan Hit grins. Bryan Hit says, "That's all from me" Bryan Hit grins. Trevor Rage says, "Based on weapon type and probably it's plus to hit/defend. No more." Trevor Rage nods. Having finished addressing the assembly Elise Evans sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Bryan Hit sits back down. Linda Gabriel stands up to address the assembly. Bryan Hit says, "Okay" Trevor Rage says, "Hello Linda." Trevor Rage smiles. Having finished addressing the assembly Bryan Hit sits back down. Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "You there, Linda>" Trevor Rage smiles. Linda Gabriel says, "I was wondering about if you get tired when you fight or if the perp will bleed if you use a weapon like a knife" Trevor Rage grins. Linda Gabriel says, "sorry, Im slow" Linda Gabriel giggles. Linda Gabriel asks, "like, if you use a weapon that will make him bleed will he die faster or will he tire out too?" Trevor Rage says, "There will be fatigue. I want to make sure it's not an annoyance, just a touch of realism. And weapons will inherit properties in a realistic manner, so yes, a knife would be excellent to induce bleeding." Trevor Rage says, "Blood loss will cause weakness and fatigue." Trevor Rage says, "And disorientation." Linda Gabriel says, "so if you fight for long periods of time, like when I'm trying to ge used to a new weapon..." Linda Gabriel asks, "will i tire out and not be able to fill my pool?" Linda Gabriel blushes a nice shade of off-pink. Trevor Rage says, "You will tire out, but a moment's rest will be sufficient to go back in the fray." Linda Gabriel says, "sorry, but I was just wondering" Linda Gabriel says, "thanks, thats all" Trevor Rage says, "You of course will have to disengage to rest, unless you're suicidal." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage nods. Linda Gabriel smiles at Trevor Rage. Linda Gabriel laughs! Trevor Rage grins. Linda Gabriel says, "not yet" Trevor Rage chuckles. Having finished addressing the assembly Linda Gabriel sits back down. John Edmiston stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Welcome back, John." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage asks, "You there, John?" John Edmiston says, "whoh" John Edmiston says, "sorry" Trevor Rage grins. John Edmiston says, "set up my tripod, and was recording" Trevor Rage chuckles. Trevor Rage says, "And quietly too." Trevor Rage grins. John Edmiston asks, "Was wondering if you had a date yet, an estimate?" Trevor Rage says, "Nope." John Edmiston says, "when the changes will be done" John Edmiston snaps his fingers. Trevor Rage says, "You'll all know it as soon as I do." Trevor Rage grins. John Edmiston says, "i think i forgot my other questions" John Edmiston shrugs. Trevor Rage chuckles. John Edmiston says, "thanks" John Edmiston sits down. Trevor Rage says, "You bet." Having finished addressing the assembly Linda Gabriel sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly John Edmiston sits back down. Trevor Rage calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down. Trevor Rage says, "No one else in queue." Mike Tucker stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Stand on up." Trevor Rage grins. Mike Tucker says, "Hi" Mike Tucker says, "O.K. One question. Will there be a tie-in to stats and skills..."" Mike Tucker says, "...meaning..."" Mike Tucker says, "...if you guys decide to move the skill points around yourselves..." Mike Tucker says, "I would hate to go into the Cmgr and come out with a body type that made me as deterous as a jersey cow." Mike Tucker says, "and then get a high boxing skill which needs dexterity. And not be able to do it" Trevor Rage says, "Your body type WILL be up to you to decide." Ceit Galbraith says, "Pardon me." Ceit Galbraith slips quietly into the shadows. Trevor Rage says, "Your skills will probably be mostly are all up to you to deal with too." Trevor Rage says, "Which is what we've been discussing." Mike Tucker says, "right. But I wanted to check my point" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "I don't foresee that problem occurring." Mike Tucker says, "I don't want my body type to end up killing me in a game too" Mike Tucker says, "o.k. Thanks" Omi Revel nods. Omi Revel grins. Omi Revel says, "I understand that. Makes sense." Omi Revel smiles. Trevor Rage nods to Omi Revel. Trevor Rage says, "Thanks Mike." Mike Tucker nods to Trevor Rage. Having finished addressing the assembly Mike Tucker sits back down. Linda Gabriel stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage asks, "Linda?" Trevor Rage smiles. Linda Gabriel asks, "i was wondering about one other thing. could we be able to drag someone that we are fighting with, in our group, to safety?" Trevor Rage says, "Possibly." Linda Gabriel says, "that would be nice to be able to save your partners" Trevor Rage says, "I won't promise either way, but possibly." Linda Gabriel says, "once they fall they are out of you ability to help them" Linda Gabriel says, "thats all, thanks" Linda Gabriel smiles. Trevor Rage says, "ok." Trevor Rage grins. Having finished addressing the assembly Linda Gabriel sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Mike Tucker sits back down. Ichiko Daiumi stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage bows to Ichiko Daiumi. Ichiko Daiumi coughs. Trevor Rage says, "Welcome, Ichiko." Ichiko Daiumi says, "Hello" Ichiko Daiumi says, "This really isn't about what we're discussing, but it relates directly to you.." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage nods to Ichiko Daiumi. Ichiko Daiumi asks, "That's a nice picture of you on your site. Where can I get one?" Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "http://www.characterdesignstudio.com" Ichiko Daiumi nods. Trevor Rage says, "And thank you." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage says, "The pricing is very reasonable and the art is excellent." Ichiko Daiumi says, "Might be nice, if we could get portraits done and share them with each other. Help visualize ourselves" Ichiko Daiumi says, "And I think that's all, for now anyway" Ichiko Daiumi bows to Trevor Rage. Trevor Rage says, "There has been some talk of that, and it's still.. talk." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage bows to Ichiko Daiumi. Having finished addressing the assembly Ichiko Daiumi sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Mike Tucker sits back down. Jon Garfield stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Hello Jon." Trevor Rage smiles. Jon Garfield says, "Quick one this time, I promise" Jon Garfield grins. Jon Garfield asks, "Am I correct in understanding that stuff will now be solely related to skills and stats, not profession? Like if there's a voodoo ceremony, anyone with high para skills will sense the special stuff, as opposed to in the past when only people who were para by profession would sense it?" Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "Right." Jon Garfield asks, "In other words, it wouldn't matter if your profession at the moment of the ceremony was para investegator or mechanic?" Trevor Rage says, "Same for using SENSE, etc." Trevor Rage says, "Right." Jon Garfield says, "Ok, thanks" Trevor Rage asks, "You bet Jon. Was that it?" Trevor Rage smiles. Jon Garfield nods. Trevor Rage nods. Jon Garfield says, "Like I said, short for a change" Jon Garfield grins. Trevor Rage chuckles. Having finished addressing the assembly Jon Garfield sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly Mike Tucker sits back down. Trevor Rage calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down. Trevor Rage says, "Alright. One last chance for last minute questions." Trevor Rage says, "Lemme page Ferd and see if he replies. He never got to ask his question." Trevor Rage says, "And if anyone else thinks of a question in the next few seconds, the queue is empty" Ferd Berfel stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage asks, "Ferd?" Trevor Rage smiles. Ferd Berfel says, "dunno if this has been answered already...." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage nods to Ferd Berfel. Ferd Berfel asks, "but will the noto changes be adjusted to compensate for all the time that will be spent on weapons maintenance, sewing of socks etc..??" Ferd Berfel says, "I do go thru a LOT of socks in the jungle" Trevor Rage says, "Nope. The benefit is a fixed weapon, usable socks, and skill in the respective skills. Noto itself is unrelated." Trevor Rage says, "But in some skills it may be collateral." Trevor Rage says, "So, you may gain noto in appropriate cases." Ferd Berfel says, "What I mean to say is... the noto We lose from performing maintenance and maintaing the skill in other areas may be lost for those of us who chose to keep the stalker and henchaman population low" Ferd Berfel says, "and for keeping socks in a respectable state of repair" Trevor Rage asks, "Are you asking for noto for fixing things?" Ferd Berfel says, "no no will the perping noto be raised because more time will be spent maintaining other areas of a well balanced day" Trevor Rage says, "The noto per perp, possibly. The noto pool limit, I doubt it." Trevor Rage says, "So you can spend less time hunting without penalty." Ferd Berfel seems to agree! Trevor Rage says, "But if you choose to hunt a lot, you'll also fill that pool quicker." Ferd Berfel says, "mainly im in it for the cash" Ferd Berfel grins. Trevor Rage nods. Ferd Berfel chuckles. Ferd Berfel sits down. Trevor Rage says, "I doubt you're alone." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "Thanks." Trevor Rage smiles. Ferd Berfel says, "and for good socks" Having finished addressing the assembly Ferd Berfel sits back down. John Edmiston stands up to address the assembly. Ferd Berfel rolls on the floor laughing, convulsing with mirth. John Edmiston yawns. John Edmiston stretches. John Edmiston says, "Hey again" John Edmiston says, "'kind of unrelated, but... Karokee, when is it going to be started up again, I've been orangizing a few, but I can't give the free gifts and training points. And I can't participate if I'm organizing it." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage grins. John Edmiston grins. Trevor Rage says, "I dunno. A certain GM has usually hosted it, and I'll have to send her your wishes." Trevor Rage grins. John Edmiston grins. John Edmiston says, "thanks" Trevor Rage nods. John Edmiston says, "thats it" Trevor Rage nods. Having finished addressing the assembly Ferd Berfel sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly John Edmiston sits back down. Jess Whiterose stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage smiles. Jess Whiterose says, "Mike was wondering if we are gonna split the character manager thing and the skills reallocation" Jess Whiterose says, "or are they to be done at the same time" Trevor Rage says, "The current plan is that they will occur at different times, the CMgr first, the skills realloc. some time after." Jess Whiterose says, "okay that's what we thought you indicated" Trevor Rage says, "Siri is actually doing the CMgr and has a lot of it done." Trevor Rage nods. Jess Whiterose says, "Just wanted to clarify it" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "Gotcha." Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage says, "Thanks." Jess Whiterose says, "and I will say I think we need a noncombat forum soon too" Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "That would be nice." Trevor Rage smiles. Jess Whiterose says, "get those guys and gals working cause there are many noncombat skills to retain" Trevor Rage says, "I would like one too. I'll mention it.. may even host one myself. We'll see." Trevor Rage chuckles. Trevor Rage says, "Yep." Jess Whiterose says, "I think it will be fun, thanks for the work" Trevor Rage says, "Ya bet." Trevor Rage grins. Jess Whiterose says, "all of you" Jess Whiterose says, "and thanks for the forums" Trevor Rage says, "They hear ya." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage nods. Jess Whiterose says, "informed tourists are happier tourists" Trevor Rage says, "Definitely. I want people to be informed. That's only fair and right." Jess Whiterose says, "Thanks guys I have a lot to think about" Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage says, "Thanks, Jess." Having finished addressing the assembly Jess Whiterose sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly John Edmiston sits back down. Ethan Bond stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage says, "Hello, Ethan." Trevor Rage smiles. Ethan Bond says, "Hiya, sorry" Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage nods. Ethan Bond asks, "I was wondering how the skill changes will effect merchant weapons?" Trevor Rage says, "Well, there are two kinds of merchant weapons." Ethan Bond nods. Trevor Rage says, "One is fluffed up normal weapons. Fancy, but work like the rest of them. These will be converted over and will inherit the traits of that type of weapon. The plusses to strike/defend will stay intact though." Trevor Rage says, "The second type are like Pavel's. These are a nightmare for me." Trevor Rage chuckles. Ethan Bond asks, "Could you elaborate on the latter?" Trevor Rage says, "These will have to manually changed in some cases, to make sure they work right and in a balanced manner." Ethan Bond seems enlightened. Trevor Rage says, "Some have their own mini-combat system. This really, really makes it hard to balance things, not to mention make sure it all works at all. But, I'll work to convert them as fairly as possible to keep the traits you appreciate in them." Trevor Rage says, "Earlier I broke John's Chakram. I also broke the auto-retrieve script. Both are fixed now." Ethan Bond cackles gleefully. Trevor Rage says, "But just the relatively minor things I did today broke them." Trevor Rage grins. Ethan Bond says, "Ouch..." Ethan Bond says, "And is there anyway i could see the new skill listings, i seem to have missed that.." Trevor Rage says, "It's a delicate system. I'll be honest folks, .. I am NOT Pavel. That GM is no longer with us for an unrelated reason. If anyone would be a "Pavel-like" merchant, it would possibly be me. But I'm not so sure I'm willing to do it. It opens up many cans of worms." Trevor Rage says, "http://www.role-players.com/skill_list.htm" Ethan Bond exclaims, "Thank ya much!" Trevor Rage says, "You bet." Trevor Rage smiles. Having finished addressing the assembly Ethan Bond sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly John Edmiston sits back down. Bryan Hit stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage says, "Hey Bryan." Trevor Rage smiles. Bryan Hit says, "Hey again" Bryan Hit grins. Bryan Hit says, "One more quick question about the differences between full and partial reallocation. For partial, basically, the points will be distributed automatically according to skill and such, right? Full allocation will be points to be distributed by us, anywhere we wanted to put them. If we wanted to place 500 into a skill like Unarmed Combat, and 150 in another one like singing, will that be how it's done? I'm trying to get a better idea of what each one will entail, is all." Bryan Hit says, "Okay 2 quick questions" Bryan Hit grins. Trevor Rage says, "On full reallocation, yes. On partial no.. those points will for the most part be carried over. If you have 200 unarmed now, you'll have 200 unarmed later. But yes, with full, you can spend points in any manner you see fit." Trevor Rage nods. Bryan Hit says, "Okay..I somehow picture people with 1000 in Unarmed now" Bryan Hit grins. Trevor Rage says, "500 is max for any skill." Bryan Hit asks, "500 is the highest to go, yes?" Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage nods. Bryan Hit says, "Ah" Bryan Hit says, "That's a good thing" Bryan Hit grins. Bryan Hit asks, "And I know the scale of what it is to be expert at a skill has been said before, but can you mention it again?" Trevor Rage nods. Bryan Hit asks, "Basically, 500 is da bomb, but what's the lower levels?" Bryan Hit grins. Trevor Rage says, "The breakdown points are 0-75, 76-150, 151-275, 276-350, 351-425, 426-475, 476-500" Bryan Hit asks, "151 to 275 is skilled, correct?" Bryan Hit says, "I could go back to the boards and look for myself, but that takes to long for me" Bryan Hit grins. Trevor Rage says, "Bah.. don't have that list off hand." Trevor Rage says, "It's something like unskilled, familiar not skilled, skilled, etc.." Trevor Rage says, "Yes, I believe 151-275 was "skilled"." Bryan Hit says, "Okay. I'll have to take a look at the list you put up and double check" Trevor Rage nods. Bryan Hit says, "Cool" Bryan Hit says, "Dat's all from me...again" Bryan Hit grins. Trevor Rage says, "I think in numbers. I have the numbers memorized, not the names." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage says, "Ok" Having finished addressing the assembly Bryan Hit sits back down. Having finished addressing the assembly John Edmiston sits back down. Trevor Rage calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down. Trevor Rage exclaims, "There we go. Thanks Honey!" Trevor Rage smiles at Honey Templeton. Trevor Rage says, "Bad, Familiar but not skilled, Skilled, Adept, Professional, Master, The Bomb" Trevor Rage bows to Honey Templeton. Trevor Rage says, "Alright, this has been fun. I will get more info on the formulae and fine points for reallocation, then we'll put it to vote." Trevor Rage says, "This will be an in game vote, one vote per account, to be fair." Trevor Rage says, "I want to very seriously request that you get any and all ideas or questions to me. I'm available in game often, by email (MO-TREVOR@PLAY.NET), by my site (www.role-players.com) and via the message boards." Trevor Rage says, "The message boards are awesome for debate and discussion. I read them on a very regular basis." Trevor Rage says, "And other players/staff can jump in there. So in some cases they may be better than email/web." Trevor Rage nods to Jess Whiterose. Trevor Rage says, "As Jess mentioned, I *WILL* post for you on the boards if you like, if you don't have access to them." Trevor Rage says, "I can't mail you all the replies, but I can post the message for you as you like. Or answer questions for you there if you don't have access to them. I don't mind doing that for ya." Jon Garfield stands up to address the assembly. Trevor Rage asks, "Jon?" Jon Garfield says, "Sorry, one last tiny question" Jon Garfield blushes a nice shade of off-pink. Trevor Rage nods. Trevor Rage grins. Jon Garfield asks, "Will the vote be solely between partial and full, or amongst various forms and formulas of each?" Trevor Rage says, "Not sure yet." Jon Garfield nods. Trevor Rage smiles. Trevor Rage asks, "Anything else, Jon?" Jon Garfield says, "Nope, thanks again" Trevor Rage says, "If there is sufficient support for extra voting methods, I'm all for it." Trevor Rage grins. Trevor Rage calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down. Trevor Rage says, "I want to thank you all for showing. I think this has been a very important forum. It effects your characters in a real and permanent way, and I know your personas are important to you. Please pass the forum and info to any friends who could not attend." Trevor Rage opens the floor back up for general discussion. Trevor Rage says, "And I think that's a wrap."
