"I just Want him."
"Well you can't have him."
"Well.......I See You have made your decision." "Now let's see you enforce it." |

Figured I'd add the low-down on how Eric here was made. I started with a Famous Covers Daredevil. I would probably have used Vision, but I got impatient and wanted to start him. So I cut Daredevil's head down until it was a just a neck joint. Then sculpted a new head with Super Sculpy. The left hand is the only other body part that I modified. I wanted two open hands so I used the left hand from Invisible woman. I added sculpy to the hand and made it match the right hand.(When attempting that, coat the hardened sculpy in multiple layers of model cement or crazy glue or any other type of glue that yields the same results.) Then I painted most of his upper torso and hands flesh color.
The Crow's costume is all handmade. The Crow's pants and Trenchcoat are made from Vinyl. The catch is that I modified the vinyl so that it was thin, stretchy and clingy. The trick to this was taking the cotton backing off of the vinyl. To accomplish this, I peeled about an inch up at the end of the fabric, then soaked the cotton backing with non-acetone nail polish remover. After a couple of seconds, I was able to slowly and carefully pull the cotton off clear down to the vinyl. The Pants were modified from Nick's(last name?) pattern so that they flared a bit on the bottom. The pants velcro in the front at the fly where the buttons are. I made the buttons by sticking small gold sequin pins halfway through, coating the rest of the shafts with model cement, pulling them all the way through, and cutting the shafts off.
I created the Trenchcoat pattern myself. The decorative seams on the trenchcoat are simply fold stitches.(there are a lot of these, but they're not too clear in the pictures)Inside some of the seams of the trenchcoat I embedded metal beading wire to make the trenchcoat posable. The wire frame runs down both front panels, all around the bottom, and in the collar.
The shirt is made from a 15%Lycra blend which I stitched up the back. I put the holes there with scissors and then dusted the shirt with flour to give him a more grayish look like the movie. His arms, abs, and thigh are wrapped in actual electrical tape that I cut into thin strips. His hands are wrapped in the same thing in slightly different patterns to match the movie. Around his abs and thigh I wrapped a braided strand of that beading wire. At first I though I was gonna have to make mini-barb wire, but it turns out that it's just regular wire in the movie. His necklace is simply a curl of that same wire on a thread.
The Crow's boots are the one costume element that I didn't do all the work for. They came from a Soldiers of the World: World War II costume. I cut about an eigth of an inch off the top of these and separated the tongue from the boot. I also cut off the sculpted on laces. To get the boots to hang open like that on the side, I boiled them and held them open until the rubber rehardened. Then I took some black embroidery floss and a big embroidery needle and laced them up. Then I painted them black and they were good to go.
The last part of his costume is the actual crow. That crow was originally a falcon from a National Geographic endangered species collection. I gave it a new beak, and boiled it so I could make its wings more up and open. Painted him black and he was set.
And That's essentially how The Crow is made.
