8MM - Nicholas Cage - Intense, dark story of a private detective (Cage) trying to get the facts on a video tape left behind by a deceased "Leader of Industry". Not for the squeamish - lots of violence, some nudity. Could almost be rated "X". Cage puts in an excellent performance. (Rating=***)

The Family Man - Nicholas Cage, Tea Leoni, Don Cheadle - This is a "It's a Wonderful Life" meets "Scrooge" treatment with some clever moments, but it moves rather slowly. Almost appears the writers didn't know what to do with the ending - it gets a little lost at that point. Strong performances from Cage and Leoni help make up for the script deficiencies. (Rating = **1/2)
