The pits ran the full length of a city block were
already fired up by the time we arrived on Saturday morning
The block long pits are operated by local
churches and serve as one of their biggest annual fundraisers
We
watched as this group piled wooden pallets into the pits and set
fire to them to create the coals for their barbecue
Once the coals were ready the grills were
loaded with beef, chicken, mutton and pork
Besides all of the barbecue, there was
enough Burgoo to float the Nimitz

Ohio River where a lot of the vendors were setup
