My parents originally moved to Goodrich in 1937.  My dad, Clarence Boyd taught agriculture and it was my dad that planted all the Chinese Tallow trees around the school.  One particular tree gained some recognition as it became the largest Tallow Tree in Texas. (See picture below.)  My parents moved from Goodrich in 1942 and then returned in 1950.  I attended school at Goodrich from 2nd grade through 6th grade and then we moved to Tomball.  We returned to Goodrich in 1960 and I graduated there in 1961.  The class of 1961 consisted of seven students; Ellen "Sissy" Stout, John Hayman, Alfred Singleton, Billy Boyd, Linda Cassels, Wanda Snell and Marcelle Coleman.  Wanda and Marcelle are the only two that are deceased.   After high school I attended Sam Houston State and obtained my degree in 1965.  I began teaching in the spring of 1965 and taught in several different school districts but spent 28 years in the Klein School district teaching chemistry.  I retired in 1998 after teaching 30 years.  I married Beverley Betts in 1968 and we have two children, Steven and Jennifer.  Steven attended Baylor University and he and his wife, Sarah now resides in Bedford, TX.  They have one child.  Jennifer also attended Baylor and also lives in Bedford, TX.  Jennifer is married to Doug Miller and they have two children.  Beverley and I live on the northwest side of Houston in the Cypress Fairbanks area.
