From: Michael Schnittker; Sat, 27 Dec 1997; mschnit@ibm.net; 1969 coupe; Athens, Greece; pretty good shape, new Ruby red paint, had been dark blue at one time, Ivory still around in places. Had been sandblasted, still find small puddles of sand here and there. Has Fuch alloys which I guess are original. Motor is original except for Ansa exhaust, still has Solexes with big long snout paper filter intakes and anti-smog, strong, has had a top end rebuild but never split as far as I know. Floor has a few holes from inside rust (the black fiberous sound deadening stuff appears to have absorbed water and just sat there) but
I've killed it and no rust anywhere else. I like the car a lot. My second 912, the former was a '67 rust bucket and is no longer with us. Keep up your good work with the page.

I worked on it for 5 years and traded it for an MGB -- That guy sold it 2 years ago and I am now buying it back -- for twice as much as I paid for it! Oh well -- it sure is nice. Still needs restoration. Do you know any decent place around the Delaware area.

I found the site both informative and interesting.....Great pictures of the racing 912's in California ! I myself own a '66 912, it is currently under going a total restoration including bodywork and mechanics...It should be near Concours condition by Summer. Are spares more affordable in the States?, I know the cars are ! Parts for Porsches in the UK are very expensive ! I guess its all part of the fun ! The historic races are a special treat for me because I grew up in Watkins Glen NY in the 50,s and 60's, and was delighted to see some of the cars (and some drivers) that I knew as a child, racing again 35+ years later here in CA.

I recently bought a 1969 912 Targa from a retired Army officer who purchased the car new in Germany. It is in great condition and has 83k actual miles. The motor was rebuilt at 75k with a NPR big bore kit and reground cam, and runs very well. I would like to ask someone who may know about which version of the 356 is in this car. Is it a, b, c or unique to the 912?

Webmaster: How about it, '69 912 Targa owners? Are the last three digits of your VIN number between 780 and 801, and do you have a soft-window? (Edward is #779)

Currently it's an everyday driver (110 mile round trip with interstate and country roads on my route) to the business where I am intern and driving for an hour before and hour after work makes work worth the trip.

Rust in the usual places (i.e. front susp. pan) , that must be taken care of before anything else should be done. I'm doing my own work, so I know it's done right. I'll know more about this car than most people out know about theirs. I will autocross it this year as soon as I get it on the road.

From: J & R McConnell; Tue, 25 Nov 1997 ; yeaboy@earthlink.net; I have a 76 912E ....It is the 90th 912E built, and has a total of 43,000 miles (I bought it with 15,000 miles). This beauty doesn't know rain, snow, or winter-even though it is in California. It is black with TWENTY YEAR OLD PIRELLIS on the rear! I have had the pleasure of owning this car for appx. 8 years, drove it to school on summers, and now I drive it about once every two months!

Now in Gaeta, Italy registered as Allied Forces Italy (AFI). Don't know of any other 912E's in Italy. Factory says 'extremely rare in Europe'. (I guess since they didn't wanna sell any over here to begin with!!) This is my second 912, I a '65 for several years a while back- good car! 912E a bit different, but I like it very much. Cherished car- now running free in Europe!! E-mails on 912's, spares, tech issues, etc. always welcome here!!

From: Marshall L. McIntyre; Sat, 22 Nov 1997; marshall@koan.com; 1976 912E; It has been sitting idyle since 1985... I started to restore it but got bogged down.. Anyone need a project? I have it at home now... now own an 1984 911 Carrera... Would like to have both cars operational.
