What is "After Dark?" |
After Dark is a screensaver program that displays screensavers designed only for this particular program. It is distributed by Berkeley Systems and is available where most software is sold. |
|
What do I need in order to use the files at your site? |
Unfortunately, it's necessary that you own a copy of the After Dark screensaver program. No other program that I'm aware of will run any of the files available at this site. |
| What is a module? | Berkeley Systems uses the term "module" to describe a screensaver file for the After Dark program. |
| Where do these module files come from? | Most of the modules at my site were created by freelance and amateur programmers who offer their modules at scattered websites. |
| Is it legal to download these files? | Nearly every module at this site was created by programmers other than those at Berkeley Systems, and are offered as freeware. I have included several modules from the Berkeley Systems package, but simply as a way of displaying to visitors the quality of the "store-bought" modules. In other words, yes, it's legal. |
| What do I do with the downloaded ZIP files for Windows? | Once you download a file, unzip the compressed file. Move the uncompressed file(s) to the directory on your hard drive where your other After Dark modules are located. Close and restart the After Dark program in order for the new modules to appear on the list. |
| Where can I go to find out about programming my own After Dark modules? | There are two websites that I know of that offer help: |
| What do I do if After Dark won't run on my Mac OS 9 or Windows 2000 machine? | From what I understand, After Dark programs will no longer run under the newest versions of Mac OS 9 or Windows 2000. If you have this problem, check out this link that provides another screensaver program for Macs called "MacDim" that claims to be able to run AD modules on OS 9. Unfortunately, I don't know of a solution for Windows 2000 users. |
| What do I do if I need more help or if I'm a Mac user? | Follow this link to the technical support information page. |
