Articles of Interest

A new feature I've added is an editorial page.  Here you can vent on any topic of interest to the local recumbent community.  Editorials will be replaced as new ones arrive.

Linda Stahl wrote an article in the Courier-Journal on recumbents.  Here is a link to the story, as it appeared in May or 2003, with a cool picture of yours truly.

Here's a piece written by a rider in Owenton, KY, describing his experiences in buying a recumbent bicycle

This one was intended for use in the Courier Journal's The Best column, found each week in the Saturday Scene magazine.  It was never published there, presumably due to the cost of the bikes (they focus on cheap solutions for problems that most, or at least many, people face.  Since recumbents can hardly be described as cheap, well...).

Here's another one written by your humble web site editor for Kentuckiana Health Fitness, a monthly free tabloid-size paper that focuses on fitness-related topics.

The Boston Globe did an Interview with David Gordon Wilson, often considered one of the fathers of modern recumbency.  Here's a link to the published result.  This link is unrelated to the page you are now visiting, and does not have a return.  If you want to come back, you'll have to use your browser's "back" button.  Recumbent Cyclist News had an article on Mr. Wilson in a recent issue, as well.  Sadly, there is no direct web link to that article.  You'll just have to get a back issue, reprint, or borrow it from a friend who subscribes.

Adventure Cycling Association had an article on recumbents recently.  Here's a way to get there.

Ever wonder why more folks don't ride recumbents?  Part of the reason is that they were banned from competition in the 1930s.  This article is also off-site (I found it through the Bikeroute.com site), so you'll need to use your browser's "back" button to come back here.  Read about Charles Mochet's Velocars, their domination of cycling records, and the eventual banishment from competition.
