Jon
Jon is one of the newer members of our
recumbent riders' group. He lives in Old Louisville, and is working on a
higher-level degree in engineering. He is also a homebuilder.
His first effort has been called several
things--"Green Beauty" by Harry, "unusual" by many who see
it--and I will call it Jon's Green Machine" for the purposes of this site.
It is constructed of parts of at least two bike
frames, one a hard-tail Trek mountain bike (I think), and the other a
department-store Mongoose dual suspension mountain bike. The seat came
from a small airplane (kit?) that currently resides in Jon's back yard.
Jon is a big guy, so his bike is big.
Both wheels are 26-inch ATB wheels, and the distance between the seat and crank
is set for Jon's long legs.
I am proud to include Jon's handiwork
here. The weld finish isn't that of a production bike, but as a first
effort built for a specific purpose (getting back and forth to school and errand
running--what I call serious cycling), it does very well.
Enough of my rambling! Here are some
pictures of Jon and his bike.
