DECEPTION

"You look funny with all that on,"
She said to me as I left home.
"Why all the camouflage and leaves?
Looks like you're planning to deceive."

"The plain truth is, my dear, you're right!
I must be hidden, out of sight.
To invade the world of waterfowl
You must be smart, wise as an owl!."

It sounds just like a mallard to me.
Slightly raspy, but right on key!
My son 'calls'' from our cold duck blind.
The two ducks turn and look behind.

Seeing the 'J' of decoys set,
Circling once, then twice, and yet,
They would not drop into the spread--
Headed another way instead.

They must suspect something not right,
Although it was a welcoming sight.
God given instincts, steered away . . .
Saved their lives for another day!

The enemy appears to be
Someone, some thing, no threat to me.
His true identity he must hide
To coax me over to his side.

He comes to steal, kill and destroy.
His greatest vict'ry? . . . rob my joy!
To defeat him, when I am in need,
God makes me wise and strong, indeed!

Though tricked and tempted O so often,
Satan's blows God always softens.
It's simply His fantastic way
To save my life another day!
