To My Dad You've seen me at my very worst, You've seen me at my best. In spite of all my weaknesses, Our friendship stood the test! I did some things you would not do, You never said a word. The disappointment in your eyes Was what I really heard! There was a time I was in need, You came to my rescue. You gave when you had none to give... I never had a clue! I watched you use the gift God gave; The gift of empathy, When someone's loved one had gone home And needed sympathy! Your interest in the Word of God, The scriptures plain and true, Left such an influence in my life... Just wanted to tell you! Your boys have turned out to be fine, We've great respect for you! That's why I've raised my children Just like I think you would do! Though your philosophy was clear, Sometimes I'd disagree, But it sure worked for me, like you, It's very plain to see! My children love the Word of God And they sure love you, too! That's why I hoped when I grew up, Some day I'd be like you! BACK Back to "Searching For A Rainbow" |
