There was a young lad just yesterday, Who lived at my house then went his way. An impression he left upon my heart. It will stay with me 'till death does part! He was quiet and gentle, deep and true. A special boy, just between me and you, Who I could tell right from the start, Would be a man after God's own heart! He started out such a little lad, But before very long we found we had To chase him down to get him fed, Or to get his little rear in bed! Boundless energy, full was he! Always ready to play with me. He wanted to wrestle, bear hug and fight When I came home from work each night! A special book of stories we'd read, At bedtime to meet his special need, About a bear called Winnie the Pooh and Tigger and Eeyore and Piglet, too! We read them 'till the edges wore thin. He memorized each page with a grin. And when we got to 'the honey tree' He knew every word from memory! Now very soon this special lad Is going to be a 'doting' dad. He knows he's going to have a son. Their special relationship will have begun! They say that history repeats itself! Special books this dad will have on his shelf. 'Cause, when Aiden's ready to go to bed, His favorite books will have to be read! BACK Back to "Searching For A Rainbow" |
