EQUIPMENT

There is a list you want to make
To keep from making a mistake!
You check it once, you check it twice
If necessary, check it thrice!

Be sure your box of shells read 'steel'
Or from a heavy fine you'll reel!
Be sure you take some coffee, hot,
You may drink it, or you may not!

Clean your gun so it won't jam,
Or to the ground you'll want to slam!
You'll wish you'd cleaned it in the past
When ducks are coming in so fast!

Be sure to carry some rain gear
'Cause if you don't, you'll shed a tear!
Take some cover to hide your face
So exposed skin there's not a trace!

Don't forget your waders and boots
Or you'll feel stupid like the 'coots.'
And take along your flashlight, too--
You'll need it 'till the sun shines through!

I've been on hunts I must confess
And failed to wear the proper dress.
I nearly froze my rear end off
Then went home with a nasty cough!

Equipment checks I've failed in life
And it has caused me pain and strife.
Without equipment you can't fight
And put the enemy to flight!

God's made a list for me to see
So I can live victoriously!
When Satan comes to pick a fight
No need for me to run with fright!

Proper headgear right from the start
Something to guard my tender heart.
Protection for my feet . . . a must,
Then exercise my faith and trust!

He's given me a shield and sword
The sword I wield is God's own Word.
Protection from old Satan's wiles,
His shield of faith makes me all smiles.

With good equipment when I hunt
I'll always be in the forefront.
Now, spiritual warfare causes strife;
But spiritual gear will save my life!
