The goose goes down just out of site The nervous 'Lab' was quite 'uptight.' His instinct told him what to do, He's excited and well trained, too! The command,"Heel!" his master gave. This dog knew just how to behave! By strong desire this canine's driv'n He must obey the orders giv'n! His master points in bird's direction. The dog pays very close attention. He yells, "Fetch!" to the dog well trained, Quick response, every muscle strained! He sprints out to a distant way Then stops--looks back, as if to say, "I know I'm close, but I can't see-- One more command there needs to be." An upraised hand, in same direction, "Fetch!" is yelled, for a course correction! Same response, in a perfect line, The dog would find the goose this time! Now, once he has the bird's true scent He'll work 'til his energy's spent. Pleasing the hunter, his delight, Always keeping him in his sight! The bird's brought to the master's feet. Not one tooth mark, nor did he eat! To please his master, his desire. With job well done, he would retire. Oft' I balk at the Master's call! I wish He hadn't called at all. He knows it is for my own good. By self control, He knows I could. I've heard His voice, I know it well! Quick response, I wish I could tell. While in His Word I've been well trained It's in my mind, it's been ingrained. His one desire? For me to please! I'd rather live a life of ease. That's not an option given me Obedient living, He wants to see! BACK |
