God says, "What I want from you is your true thanks; I want your promises fulfilled. I want you to trust me in your times of trouble, so I can rescue you, and you can give me glory!" (The Living Bible) FOREVER GRATEFUL! Lord, from a grateful heart I say to you, Something, I know, that is long overdue. The reason there's a smile upon my face, You paid my debt the day you took my place! I owed a sin debt I could never pay, You paid that debt in full on Easter Day! You took a sin sick soul, rebellious heart, Forgave, and then granted a brand new start! I promised you could be Lord of my life, You promised me eternal life so rife, As well as power and authority, You also gave me safe security! You promised I could always count on you, To meet my needs and always see me through. Though pain and strife attend me on my way, I know I can count on you every day! It matters much the way you rescued me, Your love and mercy, both, have set me free, To live a life that's pleasing, Lord, to you, In every way, is what I long to do! You took my selfishness and soon subdued My wild and restless spirit that accrued. You took my hardened heart and softened it And made yourself a throne on which to sit. I know a simple 'thank you' won't suffice When I think of your awesome sacrifice, Because you would have done it just for me, Forever grateful, to you, I will be! So if others should come and ask of me What is the difference in your life I see? I'll point them, Lord, to you and to your word, And to the greatest news they've ever heard!
