BitTech, Inc. is a biotechnology company that focuses on the identification and initiation of research which has the potential to lead to enabling technology. BitTech was founded by Grant A. Bitter, Ph.D. in 1993. Dr. Bitter earned his Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from Washington University, School of Medicine (1978). Dr. Bitter was a Senior Staff Fellow at the National Institutes of Health until 1981. From 1981 until 1992, Dr. Bitter held a scientific, product development and research management positions at Amgen, Inc. Dr. Bitter is the author of over thirty scientific publications, an inventor or co-inventor on eight issued or pending U.S. patent applications, and has served as an expert consultant to the World Health Organization. BitTech, Inc. has built and operated since 1995, a modern, fully equipped 2,000 square foot research laboratory in leased industrial space in Westlake Village, CA. (45 miles NW of Los Angeles). The research conducted by BitTech, Inc. (BitTech Research) has been primarily in the area of cancer. The company has thus far been awarded $2.26 million in competitive, peer-reviewed research grants from the National Cancer Institute of the U.S. National Institutes of Health. Additional research grant applications have been and will be submitted to the NIH. BitTech, Inc. has developed proprietary technology, including an issued U.S. patent, in the areas of cancer genetic testing and cancer therapeutic discovery. BitTech OncoLogic Corp. (BTOL) was formed in April, 2000 in order to commercialize BitTech cancer technology.
