BitTech Contract Research
In the proprietary research conducted by BitTech, Inc. (see BitTech Research) the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is used as a surrogate host for analysis of human protein function. The Company has considerable expertise in the sophisticated molecular genetics of this organism. Additionally, at Amgen, Dr. Bitter was a prominent research investigator who pioneered the development of Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a host for production of heterologous proteins. These expression systems, coupled with high cell density fermentations, led to production yields in excess of 1 gram of heterologous protein per liter culture volume. Both intracellular (cytoplasmic) production and systems for secretion into the extracellular medium have been developed.
BitTech, Inc. utilizes its state of the art molecular genetics research laboratory and established expertise and prominence in yeast molecular genetics to offer the following contract research services:
Expression of heterologous proteins S. cerevisiae
Intracellular (cytoplasmic) protein production
Secretion of protein product into the extracellular medium
Optimization of expression and fermentation conditions
Protein recovery and purification
Development of cell-based screens in S. cerevisiae
Functional assays of gene products.
Functional genomics
