DM at NSG on 24 April 1802 to 8 June 1802 for Ventura Carvajal, 29, Paso citizen, and María Ramona Bernal, 29, española, widow from her first marriage to the late Juan Estevan Granillo. The prior August, the couple had petitioned their parish priest for permission to marry, noted an impediment but the prospective groom stated he had but small means with which to satisfy the rulings, that he was an orpahn, and that his prospective bride was a poor widow and orphan of similar means. María Ramona said she had heard she was related to the groom but did not know to what degree. Witnesses saited the impediment was of the third degree: don Francisco García, father of don Juan Antonio García, and Juan Antonio was the father of doña Maria Josefa García who was the mother of doña María Ramona Bernal; doña Ana María Valencia was the mother of doña Margarita Márquez who married don Juan Antonio García, who were the parents of doña María Josefa García who became the mother of the prospective bride, doña Ramona. It was also stated that doña María Valencia was the sister of doña Ángela Valencia, mother of doña Juana María Lucero, who was the mother of don Ventura Carvajal. Thus the couple were related in the third with the fourth degree of consanguinity on a transverse line. Another witness said the couple also had an impediment of affinity in the third with second degree based on licit copulation, as don Rafael Telles had two daughters, one of who was doña Juana Telles, who had as a son Juan Estevan Granillo who married doña Ramona Bernal, the widow who wished to marry; secondly, doña Manuela Telles was mother of Juan Pedro García Carvajal, father of prospective groom, Ventura Carvajal. Baptismal certificates produced showed that José Ventura Carvajal, son of Juan Pedro García Garvajal and Juana Maria Lucero was baptized at Paso on 2 September 1773 with José Antonio Telles Girón and his wife, María Catarina Carvajal as agodparents. On 30 June 1773, María Ramona Leonarda, legitimate daughter of Pedro Francisco Bernal and María Josefa García was baptized at Paso with Tomás José Bernal and María Josefa López as godparents.
