June 4, 1998
On June 4, we'll be making the planned changes/additions
to our current Newsgroup structure.
As we told you last week, we're making some changes to our Newsgroup
offerings to make them more organized and to make it easier for you
to find
notes of interest to you. We now offer you nine Newsgroups:
* prodigynet.help.excite.content: A place to discuss Excite content
offerings, such as Message Boards, news, channels, as well as Prodigy
features such as the Learning Center. (Notes posted to the old
prodigynet.help.content Newsgroup will automatically be directed to
prodigynet.help.excite.content. Existing notes in prodigynet.help.content
will NOT be transferred over to the new Newsgroup.)
-----
* prodigynet.help.billing: Ask general questions about payment plans,
free
trials, etc. Please do not use this Newsgroup to make specific inquiries
about your account. To insure the privacy and security of your account,
such
questions cannot be answered in such a public forum. We suggest you
send
your inquiry to pibilling@prodigy.net, or call our toll-free number
(1-800-213-0992) and work with an account representative.
-----
* prodigynet.feedback: Want to share your opinion on Prodigy Internet?
Here's the place to do it!
-----
* prodigynet.help.tech.connectivity: Use this Newsgroup for posts about
the
network, connects/disconnects, 56K, modem speeds, etc. You'll occasionally
see notes from Carena Pooth, Senior VP, Technical Services, and Glenn
Petry,
Director, Network Technology. Both answer your concerns about the network
and the rollout of 56K access. More information is available about
both of
these topics at http://network.prodigy.net and
http://help.prodigy.net/56kinfo/, respectively.
-----
* prodigynet.help.tech.email: Not sure how to setup your e-mail program
to
work with Prodigy Internet? Ask us! Post about other e-mail issues,
too.
More information is available at our E-mail Hub
(http://help.prodigy.net/email_hub/).
-----
* prodigynet.help.tech.newsgroups: Unclear how to get the latest Newsgroups?
Post a note! Ask other questions about Newsgroup usage, too. More
information is available at our Newsgroup Hub
(http://help.prodigy.net/news_help/).
-----
* prodigynet.help.tech.browsers: For your questions about Internet Explorer
and Netscape setup and usage.
-----
* prodigynet.help.tech.other: Got a technical question that doesn't
fit
under the other tech Newsgroups? Post it here! (Notes posted to the
old
prodigynet.help.tech will automatically be directed to
prodigynet.help.tech.other. Existing notes in prodigynet.help.tech
will NOT
be transferred over to the new Newsgroup.)
For those who want help with Prodigy Internet Personal Web Pages, HTML,
and
Web design the prodigynet.computing.htmlhelp Newsgroup will continue
to be
available.
If you're not sure how Newsgroups work, we invite you to visit our Newsgroup
Hub (http://help.prodigy.net/news_help/) to get answers to your questions.
Also, if you've subscribed to either prodigynet.help.tech or
prodigynet.help.content, you will need to download the Newsgroups and
subscribe to the new ones.
We'd also like to take this opportunity to re-introduce to you our Special
Contributors -- a specially-selected group of extremely friendly, helpful
and knowledgeable members, lead by Adrian Bolch, Prodigy Internet Newsgroups
Coordinator, dedicated to assisting you with problems and questions
you may
have about Prodigy Internet. They are Ray Biscup, Brian Estep, Bob
Henry,
Richard Holmquist, Jason Konarz, Len Mullen, Patrick Phillips, Tim
Pierce,
Susan Randel, Tommy Simpson, Jason Szeto, Dr. Barbara Strand, Chris
Willoughby, and Steve Wooden. You can learn more about them if you
select
Special Contributors from Get Help
(http://help.prodigy.net/content/get_help/) in our Member Support Center.
We
at Prodigy thank them all for their tireless efforts in responding
to your
posts!
These Special Contributors are your primary source for answers and
information related to Prodigy Internet in these Newsgroups. The Prodigy
Internet Product Specialists have moved on to assume other responsibilities.
Prodigy Internet has established new and improved communication channels
with assigned Prodigy Internet staff contacts for these Special
Contributors, to keep them as fully informed as possible and to insure
that
your questions, concerns and problems are quickly answered or communicated
to the appropriate department. In addition, you'll occasionally see
Prodigy
employees (like Carena and Glenn mentioned above, as well as Bob Lynch,
Manager, News, E-Mail, and Content Servers) responding to your questions
when they have the time. Our goal is to provide you with improved
communications, including faster and better member support, and these
changes will help make that goal possible.
In addition to these Newsgroups, you'll find helpful information about
Prodigy Internet in our Member Support Center (http://help.prodigy.net/).
Read the latest letter from our President and CEO, Russ Pillar (select
Dear
Member off of Info & Policies). Get answers to the most commonly-asked
questions (select Help Topics off of Get Help). Learn about the status
of
our network (http://network.prodigy.net). Check your account or personalize
your home page the way you want it (select Manage My Account or Manage
My
Page off of http://help.prodigy.net/). There's much more information
available in our Member Support Center; check it out!
Thank you for your continued support!
