Decorative and useful wood bowls, vases, plates, and other woodcraft and wood art....ideal for gifts or just to decorate your home. Pieces are made from a variety of wood, mostly from my own property. Trees die or are damaged by storms and I recycle them. A specialty has become natural-edge bowls and vases. I also use burls and spalted wood quite often.
Maple vessel with variable grain pattern and dark brown streaks. There is a hole thru the bottom where the center of the log had been too soft to salvage. It is 9.7" high.,evenly thin wall and hand rubbed natural finish. Code name: map9.7 $75.
The main body of this piece is camphor, the dark rings are goncalo alves, the peg inserts are turned from small oak limbs and put into drilled holes before turning to shape. It is 7.5" in diam. and a uniform 3/16" wall thickness. my code cam7x6 #132 ...$100.
This is elm burl with natural edge and bark,natural hand rubbed finish, burl on all sides, it is 7.4" diam. Code name; ebne7.4 ....$60. SOLD
Welcome to my woodturning page. I got interested in woodworking after I retired and soon found I enjoyed turning most of all, and have concentrated on it. I use a variety of wood and enjoy seeing how each species will vary in working characteristics. Most of the wood I use comes from my own place and surrounding area, but I belong to three woodworking clubs and trade wood with other turners. The International Wood Collectors Society is especially good because its members trade wood from all over the world. I recently have been getting a variety of local woods from the city forestry dump.
