Ed Brandt's Genealogical Books and Pedigree Data

NOTE: An earlier version of this website was posted on
http://home.cwix.com/~brandt@mci2000.com/edward.htm

This website was originally established to publicize the genealogy-related books I have for sale -- most of them publications I wrote or co-authored. These books, which deal with Germans throughout the world, a surname index of many who migrated to Eastern Europe, the origins of those in Wisconsin, the former Mennonite homeland in the Vistula-Nogat delta area, deciphering the German Gothic script, genealogically useful addresses in the formerly Communist states of Germany, Poles in the U.S. and Canada, and Hungarian archival and genealogical records, are listed below.

This page has been, and will continue to be, expanded to include extensive and detailed personal genealogical data. For these surnames and lineage charts, click here.

Specify where or how you found out about my books and get a 10% discount until November 30, 1999. This offer may or may not be extended.

1990 Lecture Series on "Researching Germanic Ancestors"

Entire series, $35; each individual lecture, $7, except $8 for Lecture 7
Lecture 7 provides much more on this topic than is found in Germanic Genealogy. Lecture 5 may not be fully up-to-date with respect to bibliographic references, but provides a more complete discussion of various sources than found in Germanic Genealogy or most other English-language books. Lecture 4 may be quite helpful to an inexperienced genealogist. The "Doing It Yourself" part of Lecture 9 represents a discussion of the application of material covered in Lectures 2-8.

If interested, inquire about the availability of copies of the following articles, written in the 1990s except where indicated otherwise:

The up-to-date version of the Resource Guide to East European Genealogy (with a brief description of member societies, along lists of professional translators for various languages and genealogists who are qualified to do research for specific ethnic groups or in given countries or areas), compiled by John D. Movius for the Federation of East European Family History Societies, is now available only on the Internet at http://feefhs.org. For those who seek printed copies, I have a few of the 1995 guides, the last ones to appear in print, left.

20% library discount on orders of $25 or more. Libraries will be invoiced for this amount, plus the mailing charges listed below, if pre-payment is not feasible.

Mailing charge is $4 for any book or lecture series costing more than $20 or $2.50 for any item costing $4-$20, with $1 extra for each additional book costing $4 or more and $0.50 extra for each additional lecture, small book or article.

No mailing charge for items costing less than $1 if a business-sized self-addressed, stamped envelope is enclosed or if a book or lecture is also ordered; payment for small amounts may be in the form of stamps. Prices are quoted in U.S. dollars.

Because of my interest in international, inter-ethnic and inter-faith genealogical cooperation, the shipping price is uniform throughout the world, even though it costs me more to ship books to foreign countries.

If needed, inquire about the means for transmitting funds from Europe.
