"ALAN" FEATURED IN ELVIS BOOK
"To me this was the greatest compliment"
Elvis wanted it known that he apreciated Alan's Tribute To Elvis!
It was a hot summer night in August of 1975 when I recieved the
phone call from Graceland. A girlish voice said "Hi Alan,
I'm Paulette Williams Elvis' personal secretary" I was nearly
speachless, but I wanted proof. "Really" I asked? She told me where
to find the listing for graceland so I could call her back. When she
answered the phone I knew it was really one of Elvis Presley's
respected staff. We talked and talked and she wanted to get my
permission for her to video tape my show at the Executive Inn in
Evinsville Indiana.
When she arrived with the camera crew I bet
I was as excited as Elvis was when he made his first movie. She told me
Elvis had been following my career and that I was the only one he ever took
an interest in. "Elvis likes you" she said in a very matter of fact
manner. You remind him of who he used to be. she told me he is going
to do something to prove that he truely appreciates the tribute I had been doing.
To make a long story short I realized what she meant when I say clips
from her video of me plastered in his yearly magazine.
