Welcome to my Home Page. I decided to devote it to one of my favorite places -
Yellowstone National Park. My first trip there was in 1985 and I fell in love
with the place. What fascinated me then most of all, and continues to intrigue
me today, were the geyser basins. There are so few places in the world (I
think they can be counted on one hand) where the geological conditions are
right to produce geysers. Hot springs are not that uncommon, but erupting
geysers are unique. While some geysers (like Old Faithful) are very
predictable, others are not and require an investment of time if you want to
observe them in action. I find "geyser gazing" in some ways similar
to fishing; you will spend a lot of time just sitting and waiting and maybe
never catch anything. But that doesn't always matter; just having the chance
to watch Nature on its own terms is reward enough. Geysers work on their own
schedules, not ours, and I find that comforting in a way.
I make a trip out there (I live in New York - upstate, not the City!) every
Fall, after the summer crowds are gone. I am an avid photographer, so needless
to say, I have a large portfolio of Yellowstone Photographs. I am happy to
share with you some of my visions. Enjoy, and I hope that I inspire at least
some of you to plan a trip to this truly magical place.
