Where we live  We live on a quiet cul-de-sac with friendly neighbors in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Our back yard is really large with lots of trees, a great swing set and a slide, and a garden where we grow pumpkins and tomatoes.  There’s lots of room for kids to run and play, or just relax on the deck and patio that Rick built.  We also use our back yard to get together for cookouts with several families that we’ve known for a long time, and it’s been a great place to host birthday parties with both family and friends.

There’s always something to do or see in Indianapolis, and some of our favorite things are visiting the animals at the zoo and touring Conner Prairie, a historical museum where volunteers act out frontier life.  We’re also within a comfortable driving distance of Chicago where we enjoy our membership at the aquarium along with all the other things to see and do there.

Our Families  Carolyn has two siblings and Rick has six, which accounts for Jordan’s 19 cousins.  Most of our extended family lives in Indiana, including several right here in the Indianapolis area.  That makes it easy to see each other at holidays and special birthdays, and to get together at other times, too.  Rick’s parents have a farm that provides a lot of room, inside and outside, for the kids to get together and play.  Everyone is excited about our plans to adopt and can’t wait to welcome another member to the family!

Family Activities  As a family, we enjoy reading, hiking, swimming, bike riding, and playing with our little dog Gabby.  We also enjoy traveling to check out places we’ve never been before, and going back to old favorites.  We’ve been able to vacation in Florida over the past few years and we loved everything about that, from playing in the ocean and collecting shells to shopping and sightseeing.  We really have a lot of fun together and we all look forward to sharing new adventures with our next child!

Education  We believe education is very important.  Rick has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, and studies to keep current in his field.  Carolyn refused to let a partial hearing loss keep her from earning two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree, and becoming licensed as a registered nurse.  Jordan attends a school that emphasizes a progressive approach to teaching that fits her learning style very well and we all get involved in her school activities.   We’re looking forward to being involved in our next child’s education too.

The Next Steps  We’re eager to welcome you into our lives, and we can hardly wait for the day-to-day joys of parenting our next child.  Please contact us, we’re looking forward to talk with you!
