This is Rachmaninoff’s famous vocalise transcribed
into a comfortable range for trumpet. It is in the concert key of G minor, A
minor for the Bb trumpet with A above the staff as it’s highest note. Parts in

Spanish composeryRodrigo. Originally written
as a choral work, it expresses deep sadness through the use of chromatisism and
dissonant chords, while maintaining a very heart felt beauty. A wonderful
addition to the Brass Quintet repertoire.
