We rented motor scooters and went up and down the coast and visited some great cities, what a way to get around! However, having Cannes as a home base in order to sightsee all  of the coastal cities was definitely the best place to be. The flat was excellent and centrally located. We basically traveled extensively all over Provence....  We traveled to marchantes in Aix and we visited the jewelry stores in Ventimiglia and St. Remy. The restaurants you suggested were excellent. The only drawback to the trip was that we would have liked to stay an additional two weeks and we needed more francs.
