Since ex-Eagle Bernie Leadon left after recording Workin' Band, the Dirt Band has been a four-man operation. All four guys write a good number of the band's songs, and they all sing lead vocals at times.

Bob plays piano, keyboards, accordian, bass (regular and keyboard), and guitar.

Jimmie plays the drums, harmonica, and acoustic guitar. He also writes songs.

Jeff plays the guitar (acoustic, electric, and slide), washboard, and drums. He also writes songs, and is married to country singer Matraca Berg.

Ibby plays the mandolin, electric bass, guitar (acoustic and electric), accordian, piano, and drums. He was/is a member of The Wild Jimbos, a country/bluegrass/pop group that has recorded two albums so far. He also released a solo album in 1977 called Nitty Gritty Ibbotson, and was in a band called Telluride back in the 1970's. Ibby has been putting out some solo records in recent years, through a small record publisher.
