Aikido teaches the peaceful, non-violent resolution of conflict by combining practical self-defense movements from the traditional Japanese sword, spear, ju-jitsu and other martial arts. From the first moment of practice, the emphasis is on the integration of mind, body and spirit.

In Aikido, one never meets force with force, but skillfully avoids confrontation to harmonize with the attacker's movement.

Since strength and speed are not essential elements of Aikido, no muscles are necessary. Consequently, it is an ideal martial art for men, women and children of all ages and physical abilities.

Aikido is a martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba (called

O Sensei).

The Cleveland Aikikai (affiliated with the World headquarters Hombu dojo) is a member dojo within the national Aikido organization, Aikido Schools of Ueshiba, founded by Mitsugi Saotome Shihan, a long time direct student of the founder.

Dojo Schedule

You will not find another school with as much experience and available hours of training for our low monthly dues.

We are a not for profit institution. One hundred percent of dues go to the operation of our school.

Adult membership includes all of the following classes at startup.

Basic/Beginner Class Schedule Adults:

Monday through Thursday 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Friday (by appointment) 6:30PM to 8:00PM

Saturday 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

-and- 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Also, we offer the following classes after the twelfth week of training at no extra cost.

Advanced Class Adults:

Monday through Thursday 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Sunday 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

And for the kids (7 to 12 yrs. old please)…

Children's Classes:

Monday 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Wednesday 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Saturday 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM

Free Iaido classes are also available to dojo members. Inquire at our school!

Aikikai is located at 3965 Mayfield Road, in Cleveland Heights, OH 44121.

The school is on the north side of the

Mayfield, three

businesses to the west of the intersection of Mayfield and

Warrensville Center Road. Our signs are very noticeable, so do not be hesitant to stop by.
