The previous owner was Mark Higgs the ex-Miami Dolphins running back during the early 90's. After purchasing the car I drove the car accompanied by my 10 year old son Matt the almost 2K miles to it's new home in Minnesota in 3 days. A true father and son bonding experience and not one to fade from memory. After all it is not often one meets a former football player, gets his autograph, buys his car, and drive home on a fun filled drive home. The cars performance was flawless on the ride home.

With the purchase of the Esprit it ends the quest to own one of these cars that started 18 years ago. As a former multiple Lotus owner in my early 20's that started my collection with my first 1970 Europa S-2 in 1973, 1965 Elan in 1974, and the 1974 Europa TC in 1975. I owned all three until the early 80's . At that time I settled down and sold off the last of the toys, transitioned to a BMW 320I S package and a 280ZX. After getting my career on track, getting married, having 2 kids, and buying multiple homes. I looked at my garage to see a Dodge Caravan and a Mercury Tracer sitting there. I had saved for the Lotus 3 times in the past. Every time I got close to the goal, the money saved was to be used for a different purpose like buying a new family car or the down payment for the condo or house. After 18 years I was getting discouraged and after asking my wife if there was anything the family needed the car fund for. It was finally to be used for it's intended purpose. I had started off looking to purchase a modest 78-80 N/A S-2 Esprit. The more I researched the more I wanted more. I then started looking at Turbo G cars of the James Bond type, then the HCI, then the Steven's body SE's. every step up costing just a few thousand more. While every step in performance was worth it I had to draw the line somewhere and could not alter the lifestyle that the family had gotten used to just to pursue my hobby. The SE is a great balance between the needs of the hobby and the family.
