  • July 28, 1968 - A posse of photographers follow The Beatles to various sites in London for a "mad day out" yielding hundreds of photos.
  • July 28, 1971 - George Harrison's "Bangla Desh"/"Deep Blue" single is released in the U.S.
  • July 28, 1989 - George records with Jeff Lynne.
  • July 29, 1965 - World premiere of the Beatles' second movie, "Help!" in London.
  • July 29, 1966 - Datebook magazine publishes a five month old interview with John Lennon by Maureen Cleave, she asks his opinion of organized religion.
  • July 29, 1971 - John, having agreed to join George's upcoming concert in New York, tells Yoko she can't perform at the benefit, leading to an arguement where John takes a plane back to Europe, missing the concert.
  • July 30, 1966 - Capitol's "Yesterday...And Today" reaches Number One on the Billboard album charts.
  • July 31, 1965 - "Help" enters the Melody Maker charts in Britain and debuts as number one, holding the top slot for four weeks.
  • July 31, 1966 - WAQY in Birmingham, Alabama asks listeners to burn Beatles records. The station was a Country Western station, not a rock station.
  • July 31, 1968 - The Apple Boutique stores were closed.
  • August 1, 1964 - "A Hard Day's Night" reaches Number One on the U.S. Billboard singles charts.
  • August 1, 1971 - The Concert For The People of Bangla Desh was recorded live at NYC's Madison Square Garden by George Harrison and friends, including Ringo Starr.
  • August 1, 1978 - Dhani Harrison is born, son of George Harrison and Olivia Arias.
  • August 2, 1961 - The Beatles began their own guest nights at The Cavern Club, acting as hosts to other groups.
  • August 2, 1965 - Paul and Jane Asher spend a night out in London with The Byrds.
  • August 2, 1971 - "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" is released as a single in the USA by Paul & Linda.
  • August 3, 1963 - The Beatles make their 292nd and final appearance at The Cavern Club.
  • August 3, 1971 - Paul announces the formation of Wings.
  • August 4, 1946 - Maureen Cox Starkey was born.
  • August 4, 1967, George & Patti attend the Ravi Shankar concert at The Hollywood Bowl.
  • August 4, 1990 - The live concert by Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band was recorded for Home Video.
  • August 5, 1967 - Pirate radio station Radio London goes off the air with a pre-recorded farewell message from Ringo Starr.
  • August 6, 1960 - The Silver Beatles visit the Casbah Coffee Club and meet the drummer for The Blackjacks, Pete Best.
  • August 6, 1965 - Pauls travels with The Byrds following their gig at Britain's Flamingo Club.
  • August 6, 1980 - John Lennon begins his "Double Fantasy" project at New York's Hit Factory.
  • August 7, 1957 - The Quarry Men perform at The Cavern Club in Liverpool.
  • August 7, 1967 - George & Pattie visit her sister Jenny in San Francisco, Jenny is the wife of drummer Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mac.) George visits Haight-Ashbury.
  • August 7, 1968 - Takes 1 through 46 of George Harrison's "Not Guilty" are recorded. There would be 102 takes before it is decided not to release the song for "The Beatles" double LP.
  • August 8, 1963 - Licensing firm Trans-Global cancels Vee-Jay's rights to release new Beatles records due to lack of royalty payments by Vee-Jay, and takes away their rights to "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You.".
  • August 8, 1966 - Capitol issues "Revolver" chopping off three John Lennon songs from it's British LP counterpart. "Yellow Submarine" is released as the single. South Africa bans Beatles records.
  • August 8, 1969 - Photographer Iain MacMillan poses the Beatles walking in the zebra crossing on Abbey Road for their album cover.
  • August 9, 1973 - Denny Seiwell and Henry McCullogh quit Wings before the trip to Lagos, Nigeria to record "Band On The Run."
  • August 10, 1964 - Vee-Jay re-issues four Beatles singles on their Oldies 45 label.
  • August 10, 1972 - In Sweden, Paul, Linda and Wings drummer Denny Seiwell are arrested for drug possession.
  • August 10, 1985 - Michael Jackson purchases ATV Music for $47.5 million, the catalogue includes 4000 songs including Northern Songs, publisher of most of the Beatles original songs.
  • August 11, 1964 - "Baby's In Black" is recorded which starts the sessions which would become "The Beatles For Sale" LP.
  • August 11, 1966 - John apologizes for his mis-interpreted remarks regarding Christianity.
  • August 11, 1989 - Bruce Springsteen joined Ringo during the All-Starr Band's concert at the Garden State Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.
  • August 12, 1960 - Drummer Pete Best auditions for The Beatles at The Blue Angel Club.
  • August 12, 1977 - RIAA Platinum Record level for "Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl" LP
  • August 12, 1980 - John meets members of Cheap Trick and shows off his guitars.
  • August 13, 1965 - Capitol Records releases the soundtrack to The Beatles movie, "Help!"
  • August 13, 1966 - Radio station KLUE organizes a bonfire of Beatles records, it's transmission tower was struck by a bolt of lightning the next morning.
  • August 13, 1980 - George calls John in New York to suggest a collaboration.
  • August 14, 1962 - Brian Epstein and John Lennon place a call to Butlin's and they page Ringo Starr over the camp's public address system.
  • August 14, 1964 - This day's sessions for "The Beatles For Sale" include the recording of "Leave My Kitten Alone," which first appears on the 1995 release "Beatles Anthology 1."
  • August 14, 1968 - George, John and Yoko record the unreleased "What's The New Mary Jane."
  • August 14, 1978 - Capitol releases the Beatles single "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band"-"With A Little Help From My Friends"/"A Day In The Life."
  • August 15, 1962 - Pete Best's last performances as a Beatle were the afternoon and evening shows at The Cavern in Liverpool.
  • August 15, 1965 - The Beatles appear before their largest audience -- 55,600 at New York's Shea Stadium. Bob Dylan met them at the hotel.
  • August 16, 1962 - Pete Best is sacked. Drummer Johnny Hutchinson plays with Beatles in Chesire.
  • August 16, 1964 - The Beatles perform at The Opera House in Blackpool. Also on the bill is a new group called The High Numbers, later known as The Who.
  • August 17, 1902 - George's grandmother, Jane Thomson, is born.
  • August 17, 1960 - Pete Best is named drummer for The Beatles as the group leaves for Hamburg Germany.
  • August 17, 1962 - Drummer Johnny Hutchinson holds the seat until Ringo arrives following the dismissal of Pete Best.
  • August 18, 1962 - Ringo Starr makes his appearance as the new drummer for The Beatles.
  • August 18, 1964 - John, Ringo and Derek Taylor visit Billy Preston's nightclub in California.
  • August 19, 1964 - U.S. tour begins at San Francisco's Cow Palace.
  • August 19, 1965 - 5000 fans rush the Beatles plane on the runway at 2 A.M. in Houston, climbing on the wings and below the plane making it impossible to taxi any further.
  • August 19, 1966 - While on tour, The Beatles receive a death threat in Memphis.
  • August 19, 1967 - "All You Need Is Love" commands the Number One position on the U.S. Billboard charts. Jason Starkey is born to Ringo and Maureen.
  • August 20, 1966 - Melody Maker lists "Yellow Submarine"/"Eleanor Rigby" as number one where it holds on for three weeks to that top position.
  • August 20, 1966 - While on tour, the concert promoter in Cincinnati wants the Beatles to play their electric guitars during an outdoor thunderstorm. The concert is postponed one day.
  • August 20, 1969 - The last time that all four Beatles were in the recording studio at the same time, the occassion was to mix part of the "Abbey Road" album and decide running order of songs, and where to clip the end of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)."
  • August 21, 1966 - The Beatles play a noon concert in Cincinnati and an evening concert in St. Louis, 340 miles apart, but still in the rain.
  • August 21, 1969 - Paul McCartney's company becomes MPL, for McCartney Productions Limited.
  • August 22, 1962 - A Granada TV film crew captures the Beatles lunchtime performance at the Cavern Club.
  • August 22, 1966 - "Revolver" is awarded a Gold Record for sales in the USA by the RIAA. John speaks out against America's involvement in Vietnam at a New York press conference.
  • August 22, 1968 - Ringo quits the Beatles during the white album sessions, and when he returns his drum kit is covered with flowers. Meanwhile, Cynthia Lennon files for divorce.
  • August 22, 1969 - The last group photos of the Beatles at Tittenhurst Park are taken by photographer Monte Fresco.
  • August 22, 1979 - A limited edition of George's book, "I Me Mine" was published.
  • August 22, 1986 - U.S. release of Paul's album "Press To Play."
  • August 23, 1962 - John Lennon marries Cynthia Powell.
  • August 23, 1964 - Hollywood Bowl performances recorded on this date by The Beatles appeared on the Capitol LP "The Beatles Live at the Hollywood Bowl."
  • August 23, 1965 - The U.S. album, "Help!" is certified by a Gold Record from the RIAA
  • August 23, 1966 - The Beatles appear at Shea Stadium for the second and final time. Cousin Steve is seated in Section 1, Row K, Seat 14, Upper Reserved.
  • August 23, 1974 - Standing naked on an East Side New York apartment terrace at 9 PM, John and May Pang spot a U.F.O.
  • August 24, 1964 - The U.S. LP "Something New" is certified "Gold" by the RIAA
  • August 24, 1967 - Pattie Harrison brings The Beatles and wives to hear "One Last Farewell Lecture Tour" in London by Maharish Mahesh Yogi, before he is to take his vow of silence.
  • August 24, 1987 - Worldwide release of "The Beatles" white album, and "Yellow Submarine" album on compact disc.
  • August 25, 1964 - "A Hard Day's Night" reaches RIAA Gold Record status in the U.S. In Los Angeles, various Beatles are entertained by Jayne Mansfield, Burt Lancaster, Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee.
  • August 25, 1967 - Cynthia Lennon misses the train to Wales, and surmises her marriage was over as The Beatles go to see the Maharishi.
  • August 25, 1989 - An Oldsmobile commercial with Ringo and his daughter Lee, was aired.
  • August 25, 1998 - Ringo Starr's Fourth All-Starr Band performs in Moscow, the first (ex-)Beatle to play Russia.
  • August 26, 1967 - At a press conference in North Wales, The Beatles announce they are disciples of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and have abandoned the use of all drugs.
  • August 26, 1968 - Apple Records releases "Hey Jude"
  • August 27, 1949 - Barbara Bach Starkey is born.
  • August 27, 1965 - Elvis Presley meets with The Beatles in Beverly Hills, and The Byrds & Peter Fonda party with The Beatles in Hollywood Hills.
  • August 27, 1967 - Beatles manager Brian Epstein was found dead.
  • August 28, 1207 - King John of England granted Liverpool, future birthplace of The Beatles, a charter as a free borough
  • August 28, 1964 - The Beatles' helicopter lands at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium for the first of two days concerts.
  • August 28, 1965 - Folksinger Joan Baez meets The Beatles after their San Diego concert.
  • August 28, 1966 - According to Life magazine, Los Angeles police are seen beating fans at the Beatles concert at Dodger Stadium.
  • August 28, 1969 - Birth of Mary McCartney to Paul & Linda McCartney. (Pictured on "McCartney" LP back cover.)
  • August 28, 1989 - Within 30 minutes, all tickets for Paul's upcoming U.S. tour are sold out.
  • August 28, 1995 - Ringo's tour is interrupted as he learns that his daughter Lee needs a brain operation.
  • August 29, 1959 - The Quarry Men perform at the Casbah owned by Mona Best, Pete's mother, although Pete is not in the group. The Quarry Men are: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ken Brown. The gig had been booked for The Les Stewart Quartet, another group that George was playing with, but they could not fulfill the obligation, so he rounded up the Quarry Men and brought Ken Brown from the Les Stewart Quartet.
  • August 29, 1966 - The last live concert show by The Beatles at San Francisco's Candlestick Park. The last song was "Long Tall Sally." John & Paul bring their own cameras and Paul insists that an audiotape be made of the performance to mark the event.
  • August 30, 1965 - Hollywood Bowl performances recorded on this date by The Beatles appeared on the Capitol LP "The Beatles Live at the Hollywood Bowl."
  • August 30, 1972 - John & Yoko perform at the One-To-One Concert for the children of Willowbrook School at Madison Square Garden.
  • August 30, 1999 - Liverpool kicks off International Beatles Week with a debut screening of the digitally enriched film, "Yellow Submarine."
  • August 31, 1961 - Cavern DJ Bob Wooler's debut column in Mersey Beat says The Beatles are "the biggest thing to hit the Liverpool rock and roll set-up in years."
  • August 31, 1964 - Paul speaks with Elvis via telephone.
  • August 31, 1974 - John testified in U.S, Federal Court that the Nixon Administration sought to deport him for political reasons.
  • September 1, 1967 - Group meets at Paul's house to discuss plans after Brian Epstein's death.
  • September 1, 1973 - Paul, Linda & Denny Laine travel to Lagos to record Band On The Run.
  • September 1, 1969 - John, George and Ringo attend the Bob Dylan concert on the Isle of Wight.
  • September 2, 1965 - The Beatles single "Help" is certified as a Gold Record marking one million copies sold in the U.S.
  • September 3, 1971 - John & Yoko leave England for New York. Ringo promotes Ringo Or Robin, Ltd furniture in London.
  • September 3, 1979 - Ringo Starr appears on The Jerry Lewis Telethon in a "Superband."
