Founded in 1949, Juan Cabrillo Elementary School is one of four schools in the Wiseburn School District, which celebrated its centennial in 1996. The other schools in the Wiseburn School District are:

• Peter Burnett Elementary School (3 through 5)
• Juan de Anza Elementary School (K through 5)
• Richard Henry Dana Middle School (6 through 8)

In the fall of 1999, Cabrillo celebrated its 50th anniversary. Former teachers, students, PTA members, and other community members joined us for an all day carnival that included games, live music, memorabilia, a silent auction, vintage cars, refreshments, and visits from local Fire and Sheriffs departments..

Mrs. Jane Comitz heads an excellent staff. Along with her duties at Cabrillo, Mrs. Comitz has also served as president of the South Bay branch of the Association of California School Administrators. She represents the school districts of Centinella Valley, El Segundo, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Lawndale, Lennox, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Wiseburn.
