PUPPIES

.

Beagles that will be tri color are only black and white when born.. The brown color gradually  replaces some of the black  and a bit of the white markings on the head.  As the dogs get older they continue to increase the brown coloring on the body.  Some retain a very black saddle and some continue to get more brown though out their life time.  Those that will be shades of brown and white seem to be all white or can be brown and white at birth.  Below are pictures depicting  the tri  color progression.

10 days old .Notice the

width of the blaze

1 Month old, You can see much more brown and the blaze is smaller

6 weeks old
compare with her brother

8 weeks old. The white blaze above the level of the eyes is almost gone.
The color difference is due to these pictures being polaroids. This puppy will probably retain a black saddle. She appears to be a dominate tri.

Ch. Daf-I-Dale's Fancy Dan, CDX  photos taken at 8 weeks and 2 years of age.
"Dan" is a typical example of a dominate tri showing the change of color from puppy to adult
His color remained the same until he added gray hair.
