WARNING TO FOOTLESS PEZ BUYERS

Take a close look at the picture above. There is a differance between the two stems and knowing this differance can save you lots of money and disipointment. From talking with other dealers I see there has been a huge increase of these fake footless Pez in Antique stores and on the differnt Internet auction houses. The Fact is Patent 3.9 Pez come footless and footed. But as most of us konw a true footless is worth quite a bit more than a footed one. So the crooks are out sanding the feet off off 3.9 footed Pez and selling them for the footless Price. They are poping up every whare even I have bought to groups of footless Pez lately only to have to return them because they were fakes or contained fakes. The only way to save yourself from being taken is to be able to ID these fakes quickley. This can be done by looking at the bottom of your 3.9 footless Pez. Taking a close look at the seams front and back, the space by the inside liner should be the same. See the bottom of the yellow stemed pez pictured above. The green one witch has been altered (feet sanded off) shows a larger space by the liner in the back seam. noticably larger than than in the front. So the Green stemed one above is the exampal of wht to watch out for. Take a few of your 3.9 Pez footed and non-footed and see for your self. Soon you will be an expert at spoting these. How you can tell the aproximate age of a Pez dispenser by looking at the patent number:
Patent 2.620.061 1st series issued in 1952
Patent 3.410.455 2nd series issued in 1968
Patent 3.845.882 3rd series issued in 1974
Patent 3.942.683 4th series issued in 1976
Patent 4.966.305 5th series issued in 1990
Remember when reading about Pez patent numbers they are often referred to by the first two digits only.

Dispensers changed from "footless" to "footed" in 1987. The exceptions are Valintine hearts, the recent re-release of the "Regulars" and "Psychedelic Eyes". If a 3.9 dispenser is without feet, it was made before or during 1987. Beware of footed Pez with feet sanded off.
