The picture to the right is a photo taken of Krpelany and the surrounding area, from a plane. At the top of the picture is the main east-west highway in northern Slovakia (Krpelany Slovakia is about 6 miles east of Martin, Slovakia on the Vah river). A hydroelectric power plant was built on the Vah river at Krpelany. The town is about one half mile south of the main highway. Also, the main east-west railroad line runs right through the town. Krpelany is really a suburb of Turany, Slovakia, a much larger town, about a mile or two east of Krpelany. Turany is where the Luthern Church is located. Krpelany's main industry is farming. My fathers, father, George Kis^a immigrated to the US from Krpelany in 1903. Many Kis^a's live in Krpelany and the surrounding area.
There is a old Krpelany and a new Krpelany. Old Krpelany is right next to the Vah river dam. New Krpelany is a short distance away.
