Biography of Daniel Siriphongs

"He that overcomeths shall inherit all things. And I will be his God, and he shall be My son."--Revelations 21:7

Name: Daniel Siriphongs
Occupation: Student/Computer Technician/Programmer/Biologist/Sci-Fi Specialist
School: Loma Linda University, California & AICS, Alabama, USA
Major: Student in Computer Science

I have always been fascinated with science and the unknown. Since the first time that I saw a shooting star to the first time I saw Star Wars or Star Trek, I knew that I wanted to study science. But, what science would I study? Well, my family has plenty of pets, so I had experience in biology. But, what about computers? My uncle is a computer programming instructor, and he taught me how to use, repair, and program a computer. Ever since then, I have been hooked on computers. Yet, despite my love for computers, I still wanted a career in the natural sciences. I tried that out for awhile, but after realizing that the pay was not even close to that of IT, I decided to return to CS. Currently, I am studying computer science at the American Institute of Computer Science (located in Alabama).

Enough about my personal history, what qualifies me to be a sci-fi specialist? To start off, I have read nearly all the literature surrounding the Star Wars universe, and I feel that I can answer almost any reasonable question. If I cannot answer the question, I will not stop until I find out the answer (I guess that's the scientist in me). I know a lot about Star Trek. I have been a fan of Star Trek since ST:TNG began. Yet, my knowledge of the Star Trek universe is diminutive in comparison to my Star Wars knowledge. I watch the X-Files all the time, so that gives me some knowledge about that area. I am a big fan of Space: Above and Beyond. Also, I am an expert on Arnold Schwarzenegger (although I have yet to meet him in person--despite the fact that a few of my relatives have spoken with him in length). I have all his major films on laserdisc. I love Arnie's films and nearly all other films in general. I have even considered a career in film--at least until I think about how difficult it is to break into that business.

Well, to some, I may not seem like I am qualified to be a sci-fi expert, but I do my best, and besides, the science fiction genre is expanding exponentially, so I could NEVER learn everything. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my bio. If you have any questions concerning me or science fiction in my specialty areas, or if you just want to discuss sci-fi, e-mail me and I will be happy respond.

Thank you, God Bless, Live Long and Prosper, and May the Force be With You.
