COLD WAR:

Ryan B. Darrah

My son Ryan served in the US Army from 14 Nov 1986 until 13 Nov 1989. His main duty assignment was with the 54th Signal Bltn., Co. A, Fort Hood, TX.

Ronald L. Darrah

I served in the US Air Force from 1957 until 1961, in the 16th Tac Recon Sq. at Shaw AFB, SC, as a RB-66B crew chief, and in the 3rd Field Maint Sq. at Yokota AB, Japan, as a B-57B dock mechanic. From 1973 until 1992, I served as a crew chief on F-100, F-4, and F-16 aircraft in the 181st Tac Fighter Grp., Indiana Air National Guard, Terre Haute, IN. I retired with the rank of TSG.

WORLD WAR TWO:

Peter Darrah, Jr.

Peter, my father, was inducted into the Army on 14 Feb 1945 and departed for the Pacific Theater on 14 Aug 1945, as a Construction Machine Operator, too late to see combat service. He did serve as a T5 with the 110th Combat Engineering Btln., Co. C. on Occupation duty at Seoul, Korea. He returned to the US and was separated on 3 Aug 1946.

Arthur K. Darrah

Art, my uncle and Dad's brother, was inducted into the Army on 28 Nov 1942, and he served as a Bridge Carpenter with the 449th Ordnance Heavy Automotive Maintenance Co., rising to T4 rank. He served in the European Theater at Normandy, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and Central Europe. He was discharged at Fort Meade, MD, on 17 Sep 1945. Art was wounded on 6 June 1944 at Normandy.

WORLD WAR ONE:

Albert E. Bowen

Bert, my mother's half brother, served in the US Navy from 4 Jun 1917 until 24 Jan 1919. He was a Seaman 2nd Class on the battleship USS Utah on North Atlantic service.

Howard D. O'Neill

Druly, as my grandmother's brother was known, served in the US Army from 6 Sep 1917 until 14 April 1919. He was in France from 29 Mar 1918 until 21 Mar 1919, with Co. D, 19th Engineers.

CIVIL WAR:

James Darrah

James, my g-g-uncle, served as a Private in the 12th WV Infantry from 10 Aug 1862 until 16 Jun 1865.

Jacob Darrah

Jacob, brother to James and William, served in the 6th WV Infantry, Co. L, from 11 Nov 1861 until 12 Nov 1864. Jacob was wounded at New Creek, VA, 4 Aug 1864, in the charge on Fort Piano.

William Darrah

William, the third brother, served in the 6th WV Infantry, Co. L, from 1 Oct 1861 until 12 Nov 1864. All three brothers were Privates.

Thomas O'Neill

Thomas, my great-grandfather, served as a Private in Co. C, 161st Ohio Volunteer Infantry, enlisting from Noble Co., OH. The unit served for 100 days in the summer of 1864, guarding Union supply lines in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

William H. Wilson

William, my g-g-grandfather, and Thomas' father-in-law, served as a Sergeant in the 161st OVI, also in Co. C.
